Great for making websites

2018-12-28

I've used it to run a website and the price was pretty good for all the functionalities it gave me.

Pros

It's great for making simple, professional looking websites at a cheap price.

Cons

It doesn't have the best designs, unlike other platforms like Shopify that offer very nice templates.

The best blog platform

2019-03-11

WordPress has a great Shopify integration, it really helps to keep good content in our e-com.

Pros

I've used WordPress to create content both as a blogger and as a brand. WordPress has phenomenal features that allow everyone to apply SEO techniques to their blog pages, being a beginner or a professional. There's no platform better than WordPress for blogs out there. I could manage every single aspect of my blog, design, features, functionalities... etc.

Cons

The free templates can do wonders, but if you want to step up your game and design your own blog and pages, it is pricey. But it's worthy it.

The go-to solution for bringing your website to life

2018-11-26

I use WordPress for all my websites unless it's e-commerece in which case I go with shopify.

Pros

WordPress is a flexible and robust CMS without being too confusing.

Cons

Using WordPress isn't as cut and dry as developers make it out to be. There are no instructions or guidance after downloading.

Good for quick site

2018-10-10

Pros

For the most part it is easy to get a site up and going, you can find help articles pretty easily if needed too.

Cons

Doesn't have near the user-friendliness that Shopify has, doesn't seem to have near the amount of integrations either,

Please don't ever build a site that's not on WordPress

2018-12-04

WordPress is far and away the most scalable CMS on the web. There are some DIY builders that are easier to use for end-users, but if you have any kind of web development experience, WordPress is the way to go.

Pros

- Ease of use - Ability to add, develop, and customize - Massive community with plugins to add-on functionality easily - Free

Cons

- WooCommerce is great, but the shopping experience isn't on-par yet with Shopify out of the box... though it can be customized.

WordPress is the platform for blogging!

2018-12-12

I jumped ship from Squarespace a few years ago to launch an ecommerce site using Shopify. Only there was a problem- Shopify's blogging portion of their platform leaves much to be desired.

Pros

That they are continually making changes that benefit the user experience.

Cons

All the plug ins- having a separate ecommerce site makes me not want to flesh out adding plug ins.

Feature heavy but learning curve

2018-11-20

Pros

The platform is feature-heavy and easy to customize. However, there is a learning curve. To get started, it takes a little while but once everything is setup, it is really easy to customize.

Cons

It is more catered to people who know a little bit of coding compared to others like shopify.

This is one of the easiest to use CMS platforms out there.

2018-04-23

Pros

With Wordpress you have the ability to keep it as simple as you want but it also allows you to customize and get as technical as you want especially for optimizing for user experience.

Cons

This platform isn't as easy to set up as other software like squarespace, shopify, or wix.

Not the best for ecommerce

2018-09-13

I would suggest Wordpress more for blogging purpose or a quick landing website. From my experience, didn’t feel like very user friendly for non tech-savvy. People who don’t have very much coding experience might have a bit of a hard time.

Pros

Some features came built in that aren’t available in Shopify. Plenty of plugins to choose from and the same with themes.

Cons

Would much definitely suggest using a Shopify instead.

2019-01-16

Pros

I enjoyed that it allows the user with the ability to customize even the smallest details.

Cons

The biggest pro is also the biggest con... because of all the ability to customize there are some areas where other software/companies (Wix, shopify, etc) excel that Wordpress does not.

The Standard for Web Design

2018-12-10

Pros

Tons of plugins and options to do anything you can think of with little to no coding knowledge. Most sites run on wordpress and it just keeps getting better.

Cons

Not ideal for ecommerce compared to products like Shopify. This is best for all other types of sites but can be more difficult for setting up a store unless you know it really well.

Pros

This platform CMS is incredibly easy to pick up and start using. With even a basic knowledge of CSS/HTML, you can do some pretty incredible customization.

Not for the tech-phobic but workable for anyone willing to learn

2018-12-20

For people like that, I'd go with something like Shopify.

Pros

It's risk free, as far as money goes. So, it's worth at least giving it a try, because once you get it, you'll see that you can customize so much.

Cons

It's not 100% easy-to-use if you want to customize anything. There are a lot of plugins that help users customize but I found that I still needed to know a bit of code to troubleshoot and get things looking the way I wanted them to look.

Wordpress is a good solution for starters in website development

2018-12-04

We didn't have to rely heavily on a theme. Shopify is great for ease of use, but in order to customize it, you must have intimate knowledge of liquid code, which comes at a price.

Pros

Wordpress has extremely few barriers to entry. It is not as approachable as Wix or Squarespace, but has a much wider breadth of possibility. Plugins are often free, and they number in the hundreds if not thousands.

Cons

Sites can quickly become bogged down by a heavy load of plugins, and this slow loading time can negatively affect SEO.

A one-time blogging host that has since evolved in a multipurpose website platform

2018-10-09

Wordpress is best used as a publishing platform, and if you need e-commerce capabilities or security for confidential information, it is best to find other options.

Pros

The flexibility of the current Wordpress platform allows one to create different kinds of websites. In addition to a multi-use publishing platform for news, opinions, etc., it can nowadays be used for a general business website or even a limited e-commerce platform with the use of a wide selection of tools and plugins.

Cons

Since wordpress hosting is sometimes on independent isps rather, it can be much less secure than something like Shopify. The interface can be confusing for Wordpress admin.

2019-03-27

Pros

I love how easy it was to integrate Wordpress with my website platform, Shopify. The option to have multiple users within the account is convenient as well.

Cons

Why Writing With WordPress is a Breeze

2018-12-14

Wordpress has not solved any business problems for me currently because my page is more for self help, but it is to my understanding that as I build my brand I can promote products on the site to increase my sales. With Shopify and even Amazon business accounts this could be very handy.

Pros

I like the ease of use in Wordpress. Set up and functionality are easy and you can save information for later or you can publish your work right away. I find myself in and out of Wordpress frequently, and sometimes I am just doing research on other topics or ideas, and the cost is very minimal for the exposure and experience you gain on the Wordpress platform.

Cons

At first glimpse setting up your own website can be scary and I dreaded taking the time to do that, but truth is Wordpress made it an easy process. The only other downfall is gaining exposure and a following, which can be hard on any platform if you do not already have followers.

WordPress, the best CMS available for everyone - easy and fully customizable

2018-12-26

I've recently started to use WordPress also for Ecommerce sites as a good alternative to Shopify.

Pros

With regards to WordPress, I like how flexible and easy to use are the numerous themes, the wide offering of plugins and efficiency of all code. As a content management system, it's ideal for anyone: the individual willing to launch his/her first online website, or any organizations - companies of any size.

Cons

Not many disadvantages about WordPress as CMS, however there are a few things to consider. Firstly, sometimes you will require coding in order to make some customization to your website theme or plugin. Secondly, being the most popular CMS in the world, it's always targeted by hackers: so you may face constant vulnerability and you need to keep it always update.

Stable & Customizable CMS System

2018-12-04

Pros

Add a plugin like WooCommerce/shopify then follow a guide and your set, or do you want to show your portfolio?

Cons

The base cms system works great but some plugins like jetpack from Automattic adds so many great extra features that feel like it should belong with wp itself. So if more of those features could be integrated with wordpress, then it would stand stronger in the future.

WordPress does it all!

2018-11-02

Fantastic and would use this every time I need to create a website.

Pros

It almost mirrors Shopify websites but you don't have to pay shopifys $30/month rate.

Cons

It does take a bit of configuration to get set up and it's not as easy as other website buildings where you just click a button to get started. But of course this is because there are way more features for WordPress.

Great for fussy UI people and amateurs alike

2019-03-28

I have also worked on web platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify. And the last 2 are pretty good!

Pros

The reason why I turned to WordPress expertise was because basically everyone else started to, too! The benefit of this is that people of all talents are creating all sorts of apps (called plugins) that have great functions and features for it. Same thing for the themes (that's the look of the site). There's nothing that can't be done with WordPress. Basic awesome websites. Amazing multi-functional enterprise-level websites. Even if you're not an expert, and don't have high demands for your website to ... build a rocket ship for you... you can still enjoy using it and getting your business or your artwork out to the people.

Cons

Funny enough, the thing that makes it so great can also be a thorn in the side. Just because your WordPress site can do all these cool things such as connect people from your site to an autoreponder email list, or accept payments via Paypal easily, it does not also mean that removing other keystrokes/steps for other functions is as easy. So website owners who love their WordPress sites and want the sites to be even more efficient, to do more things automatically, often come across this tricky situation where 'customization' is required. And that means testing, time, and money. Sometimes significant amounts. Customization is open ended. The sky is the limit to what your website can do. But just because it offers a whole lot of cool features out of the box doesn't mean that adding to those features is easy. That's something I run into a lot with clients. The other thing is that the high level of free offerings of apps (again, called plugins) means your website will be able to do a bunch of cool things for free. But you have to be somewhat aware of your site on a regular basis to make sure that the plugins remain up to date and don't cause conflicts with other parts of the website. Regular maintenance does not have to be a big deal or cost at all. But if you don't do it, the costs can become huge when you have to clean something up.

The Best E-Commerce Platform

2018-09-08

Pros

Shopify is hands-down the best e-commerce platform. I've used WooCommerce and Magento and I always prefer Shopify. Shopify is generally pretty fast and it's easy to get an e-commerce store up and running in a day. The main reason I use Shopify is for the simplicity and effectiveness. The app store also provides some helpful apps for marketing.

Cons

Additionally, apps are more expensive than WordPress apps which means you may be spending hundreds per month on SHopify vs. 10% of that cost on WordPress.

Great tool for artists

2019-03-28

I personally prefer other, more accessible platforms, such as Weebly or Wordpress.

Pros

Shopify is a great tool for creating a website and organizing inventory.

Cons

Shopify's back end interface is very different from any website design tool I've used so it was difficult to figure out how to make a basic page right away.

Moved from woocommerce to shopify

2019-03-07

I was happy to migrate to Shopify. I also migrated online stores of y clients

Pros

Setting up an e-commerce store with Shopify takes about less than an hour compared to weeks using free other software such as Woocommere on Wordpress

Cons

Free themes are awfully designed. And many essentials apps are very expensive to use. There should be an easier way to migrate from other platforms.

Simply the best after dealing with woocommerce headaches.

2018-06-17

Makes my ecommerce business run smoothly and easily.

Pros

Includes everything you need to run a beautiful website that just works, no hassles and down time like you get meshing packages of wordpress and woocommerce.

Cons

I would like to have more visual editing features like using visual composer for wordpress, it has some but it's not extensive.

Makes ecommerce easy

2018-04-19

Pros

I love using this instead of a Wordpress site with endless plugins.

Cons

I wish they supported Groupon Goods. Now I am going to have to keep up with two different sites and inventory lists.

Shopify is the best for simple e-com

2018-08-06

Shopify is a straight forward solution when we need a strong e-com easy to manage.

Pros

I use Shopify for my clients that want a simple but efficient e-commerce website. It's easy to use, non expensive (compared to other solutions), there is many add-ons and templates available, the plateforme is really strong and stable, reliable and no problems.

Cons

Also some custom tweaking is not possible like other solutions Wordpress/WooCommerce, Duda.co, etc.

Good for small e-comm stores

2019-01-18

It's basically like giving wordpress e-commerce capabilities.

Pros

It's pretty easy to set Shopify up without much prior knowledge, and I like that I can upload products in bulk instead of having to manually enter in all the information for everything.

Cons

Their blog layout/design capabilities are basically nonexistent - you have to hire a developer to design it for you if you want any sort of modern design. Same with automatic emails, you'll need to use Mailchimp or some other ESP if you want to really design the look and feel of your website without any coding knowledge.

Setting up an online store, made safe and easy

2018-08-22

I've setup an online medical store.

Pros

Shopify is well organized, has many starter templates, allows for plugins, and a lot of customization without having to host the store yourself and manage updates (unlike wordpress).

Cons

The FREE to use images are really not worth the time to even consider. The plugins are quite confusing and I'm concerned with security of 3rd party plugins.

Shopify powers our online business and couldn't be easier to use!

2018-07-07

Pros

We used to use Wordpress and found it so exhaustive to manage.

Cons

I didn't like learning a new software language when I wanted to customize the theme, but it's been somewhat easy to customize for our needs.
