Factory overview
What is Factory?
Factory is the whole-shop system for small custom fab shops. One straight line from quote to paid, with no re-keying between steps.
It's built for high-mix, make-to-order shops under 50 on the floor: sheet metal, structural steel, machine shops, architectural metal, signage and display, trailers and truck bodies, ag machinery, mobile welding and repair. Metal is the heartland, not the boundary.
WHAT'S IN IT
Quote. Build a quote off a live material and labor library with a full bill of materials, down to raw stock. Steel moves, you re-quote in minutes instead of rebuilding the sheet.
Plan. Drag-and-drop board for the week. Crew and machines, capacity you can see.
Track. Every job carries a status you set up to match how your shop actually runs. Customers get notified automatically as it moves.
Manage. Notes, photos, drawings, checklists and signatures attached to the job, not to a clipboard.
Time. Your guys clock on and off against the job from the floor, on a phone or tablet.
Invoice. Full, partial or progress invoicing. Send it from the job.
Get paid. Take payment online. It reconciles back to your accounts on its own.
Materials. Purchase orders against the job, with costs flowing back so estimated versus actual is real, not a guess.
HOW IT FITS
Factory syncs with QuickBooks, Xero and MYOB. You keep the books you already keep. Nothing gets ripped out and re-implemented.
It's browser-based, so it runs on whatever's already in the office and on the floor. No install, no server, no IT contractor.
It's configurable to your shop's workflow without a developer or a consultant, and it's up in weeks, not months.
WHO BUILT IT
Factory comes out of Vilno, a custom fab shop one family has run for almost 50 years. One brother ran the shop for 20-plus years, the other went into software. There was nothing built for a shop that size, only ERPs made for the 5% that are big, so they built it on their own floor.
300+ shops run on Factory. One went from 25 to 50 orders a day on the same crew.
