What is Lobby?

Lobby is a real-time meeting room display solution for modern offices using Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. It provides live room availability information through e-ink screens, browser-based virtual displays, and centralized overview panels. The platform addresses meeting room booking conflicts and enhances space utilization without extensive IT infrastructure.

The software integrates directly with existing calendar systems and pulls live data from room resources to display current occupancy status, upcoming reservations, meeting organizer names, and remaining meeting time. It offers three display configurations: physical e-ink devices using TRMNL open-source hardware mounted beside each room, virtual displays accessible via web browsers on tablets or televisions, and room overview displays that consolidate multiple room statuses on a single screen.

The e-ink displays utilize paper-like screens that eliminate glare and remain readable from corridor distances. They operate on battery power for twelve months without charging and render color-coded status indicators with green for available and red for occupied. The devices consume zero power when displaying static information, connect to the network via Wi-Fi, and attach with magnetic mounts to avoid cable installation.

A centralized dashboard enables management of all displays across an organization. Custom screen templates support branded layouts, logo placement, and removal of default branding. Room feedback functionality leverages QR code stickers to channel reports directly to a triage inbox. Slack integration permits booking commands to be executed within communication channels. The TRMNL hardware firmware is open source, and devices are purchased outright, providing full ownership without subscription obligations. Virtual displays require no additional hardware and operate through standard web browsers on internet-connected devices.
