Onyx overview

What is Onyx?

Onyx is an AI voice interviewing platform built for recruiters and hiring teams who need to screen candidates faster without losing interview quality. Instead of a scripted question list, Onyx builds each interview dynamically from the candidate's CV and the job description, then generates follow up questions in real time based on what the candidate actually says. Interviews run as natural, two way voice conversations rather than one way recorded video, averaging around 14 minutes per candidate.

After each call, Onyx produces a clear recommendation (Strong, Recommended, or Conditional) along with interview notes, so hiring teams can see the reasoning behind the shortlist rather than an unexplained numeric score. Shortlist size is configurable per job rather than fixed, so teams can adjust it to match hiring volume.

The platform is built to handle volume, supporting over 100 concurrent interview calls, which matters for teams running bursty or high volume hiring cycles. Onyx can run standalone with its own dashboard, or layer on top of a company's existing applicant tracking system, with jobs and candidate data syncing between the two depending on what the ATS supports.

Candidate experience and compliance are built in from the start. Every call opens with a disclosure that the candidate is speaking with AI and that the call is being recorded, and outreach sequencing (call, message, and email follow ups) adjusts by region to match local consent requirements.

Onyx was designed with Gulf and Arabic speaking markets in mind from day one, an area most global interviewing tools have not built for, and is used today by recruitment agencies and in house hiring teams across the Middle East, with a growing client base in the US, UK, Europe, and Australia.

It is best suited to in house talent acquisition teams and recruitment agencies running repeat or high volume hiring, from small businesses without a dedicated HR function up through established agencies managing large external placement volumes.
