Ikonix Unified Messaging Suite overview

What is Ikonix Unified Messaging Suite?

Hospitals rely on resilient, integrated, and secure technologies to drive healthcare outcomes. Avoiding duplication and reducing human workload are key to effective care.

Designed for and in collaboration with clinicians and hospital operations teams, the IUMS is a suite of solutions for clinicians, switchboards, and operational staff, that power critical messaging. The IUMS ensures secure communication

• person to person,

• system to person,

• system to system, or

• between multiple endpoints in a process.

This bundle of applications includes solutions built on our robust middleware and branching out to all aspects of hospital and enterprise communication needs.

• Ikonix Messenger

The foundation is our Message Integration Engine. Ikonix Messenger connects the human and infrastructure endpoints, getting information to your team, or into workflows for automated response. Messenger supports physical and software message ingestion, connecting to equipment as disparate as pharmacy refrigeration; Building Management Systems (BMS); fire, smoke, and safety systems; bespoke IoT solutions; as well as all personal communication channels, such as email, SMS, paging, and telephony.

• Ikonix Connect

Ikonix Connect is a secure critical messaging app for both iOS and Android. As a full-featured communications app staff can collaborate by instant messaging; voice & video; and images, attachments & voice notes.

With role-based messaging, large teams can contact the right on-call assistance via your integrated organisation directory, and critical alerts can override silent settings to get the right message to the right person, at the right time. With offline mode, communications are routed around unavailable personnel, ensuring the right to disconnect, and a positive work-life balance.

• Ikonix Encode

Paging remains a significant mechanism to overcome environmental or operational issues in site communications. Integrate radio paging networks into your full communication stack, and can even add layers of encryption, to secure private or sensitive information at broadcast.

Built from the ground up to modernise paging, Ikonix Encode offers key advantages to legacy systems. It's designed to meet increasing needs by improving delivery times while also better managing broadcast traffic, achieving faster critical messages, and rebroadcast to ensure delivery.

• Ikonix WebConnect

Needing only a browser to operate, WebConnect provides switchboard staff with everything they need to be the conduit of information in your network. Easily access the directory to find personnel, program hotkeys for rapid actions, or schedule on-call rosters all in an easy-to-use platform, that is integrated with the rest of the organisation for two-way communication with the field team.

Ikonix WebConnect also provides administrator access to manage custom workflows, and comprehensive auditing and reporting for compliance & investigation.

• Ikonix Billboard

Ikonix Billboard integrates facility messaging with location-aware notifications for an informed environment. In a command centre, on a ward, or in a waiting room, Ikonix Billboard is a complete, network-attached display solution for customised information.

See how a Code call is distributed, live duress alerts and more, so you can keep everything on track in real time, without the need to create your own dashboards.

• Ikonix TeleConnect

Your site more than likely already has a constellation of desktop or cordless phones for your team. Everyone knows how to use them, and they're baked into your systems and processes. A deceptively simple extension to the IUMS, Ikonix TeleConnect allows your frontline personnel to leverage existing landline telephone systems to quickly issue a text message. This means every user with a desktop phone can contact other users by page, SMS or Ikonix Connect message.

Key benefits of using Ikonix Unified Messaging Suite

• Integrate hospital or facility systems and databases
The IUMS engages with your organisational contacts list, for example Active Directory or OKTA. This means switchboards have updated contact details, and via Ikonix Connect, users can manage their own contact information in the directory, saving time and effort.
Through Ikonix Messenger, third-party systems are integrated to broadcast information where you need it, by custom workflows. Examples of the 90+ systems with which we integrate include
- BMS (e.g. Schneider, Honeywell)
- Duress & security (Airista Flow, GE Tecom)
- Communication services (Spectralink DECT, Telstra & Optus SMS)
- Fire & smoke detection (Vesda, Wormald)
- Nurse call (Ascom, Rauland)
Importantly, the IUMS also incorporates paging solutions to ensure maximum coverage of communication solutions.

• Communications built for security & privacy.
As the IUMS routinely handles medical information, there is a strong emphasis of security. Your data is isolated, either on-premises within your existing network security, or deployed to secure, reliable cloud infrastructure based in Australia. Our backend services are not multi-tenant, meaning your data is not collocated with other organisations.
Paging can be a weak point in a communications network, which is why we have developed an encrypted solution, to ensure security of your information.
On mobile devices, Ikonix Connect requires a device-level PIN or biometric lock and offers additional security options within the app. Organisational data is isolated from the user’s private data, reducing the risk of data spills or accidental data sharing.
Users can also hide their personal number when using Ikonix Connect to contact, ensuring personal privacy, especially when using their own handset.

• The dependability of inclusive, flexible rostering.
Rostering in a complex, 24-7 workplace is difficult. The IUMS has the capacity to be a single source of truth for on-call rosters, publishable within your organisation, and with shifts able to be handed over between team members.
Users can manage their own availability with a simple in-app toggle, and role-based messaging is routed to the truly on-shift person. Switchboards therefore always have access to the right person, crucial in an emergency such as a Code call.

• Designed to be scaled and resilient.
Ikonix Technology prides itself on is system availability and reliability. We routinely deliver more than any agreed SLA, achieving zero unscheduled downtime. As we work with healthcare institutions, the system requires in-built redundancy to ensure constant service.
Licences under a commercial model are scalable to meet the size of your team, ensuring whoever needs access can be granted it.

• Communicate with the assets you have.
The IUMS integrates existing PABX or DECT telephony and can be deployed to your existing servers. This allows you to avoid major capex investments deploying the Suite.
For Ikonix Connect, the app works with both Android (v13) and iOS (v8), allowing you to deploy it to single-assignee company phone fleets, shared devices personnel hand between them, or to BYOD arrangements.

• Deployment support from start to finish.
Ikonix Technology guides our clients through the entire process. This includes mapping your existing workflows, integrating your systems, and training your team. Each deployment is subtly different, so we take a consultative approach to implementation. Training and promotional materials are available and customisable, and your personnel are taken on the journey with us.
The IUMS has been developed in partnership with clinicians and workers, taking feedback and guidance on new feature development and prioritisation.
