Pros

I love the ease with which I can take apart PDFs, redesign, and put them back together. It is intuitive to use, and I've enjoyed playing with the features.
It helps me create fillable surveys for clients and students that makes it easy for everyone. I am pleased with the software.
PDFElement is my favorite PDF reader and I recommend it for all types of users, from the most basic to the most advanced.

Pros

Super easy editing functions and simple design structure makes it one of a kind. Having the app made it super easy to scan stuff in and convert it to a PDF for work.
It has great editing features and the printing quality features are superb. It also has an option to save as pdf file if you are printing any word/browser files into pdf.
It loads fast and let's me print and save with ease. Very important tool for my buiensess to help me view invoices and contracts.

Cons

I opened and tried to work with ONE document and the program infected every other PDF on my computer, rendering all useless as they would not open in ADOBE or WORD once I had deleted the program.
Stability problems dealing with larger pdfs, started getting worse when version 7 launched and the developer decided they needed more revenue. We will probably not be buying the upgrade.
Having to purchase 2 separate licenses is costly and one license should permit at least 2 systems or 2 systems of differing platforms. Customer support/communications: non-existinet.

Cons

Doesn’t always function if I’m not the administrator and I can hardly understand the verbiage or wording of it. It’s annoying to use and hate using software that require Abode.
Another problem we have is when the product files get corrupted (and we don't know why).
Many features are not available without upgrading to more expensive versions - my biggest complaint is the lack of editing available in this version.

A cheaper and Good Alternative to Adobe

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall, am impressed with this software. It is a solid alternative to Adobe Acrobat. I have had no need for Adobe since I got the license. I really do not like using it as a reader though, I still prefer the adobe reader. But for any pdf editing task, it has worked perfectly fine for me.

Pros

Easily edit text and tables in pdf documents OCR function is really amazing. I did try it for an old book I had and I could easily edit the scanned pdf fast and easy. Easily convert my pdf documents to ppt or word or even jpg files I can merge and combine documents easily I can easily make clean and clear annotations using pdfelement Most importantly I can easily encrypt and protect my files and the batch encrypt features makes it easier to achieve this if you have a lot of d The interface is simple and intuitive. You can easily find your way around all the features without needing any special tutorials.

Cons

No monthly payment, you need to get the 6months plan or the 1 year plan Can't fill out forms on an ios

Overall, PDFelement has worked very will for me, as an inexpensive substitute for Adobe Acrobat.

Saving cost versus Adobe Acrobat, the industry standard.

Pros

Cost is the primary reason for using PDF element, versus other options. It does reasonably well at combining & editing files.

Cons

It is still somewhat buggy, and does not always work intuitively. The most annoying bug is that despite setting the default text size & color, it will not automatically use that default. I prefer a red color font for adding text. However, it always wants to use black, forcing me to edit the color afterwards.

PDFelement is a good software but I prefer Adobe Acrobat

Pros

PDFelement is a good PDF editor and reader, with many helpful features that anyone can use easily.

Cons

This software is not as good as Adobe, the quality of the OCR results is not high enough and you must have a good scanned document to use the OCR, and converting to word or excel doesn't give high results.

Affordable and best alternative to an expensive Adobe Acrobat

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Intuitive user interface and no learning curve if your familiar with Adobe Acrobat. PDF editing feature is easier that that of Adobe Acrobat. The mobile application is not as heavy as Abobe's, loading faster.

Cons

The signature feature is not as sophisticated and advanced as the competition. PDFElement is still highly priced and their free applications that can provide most of the features even if they are not all features.

Vendor response

Hi Christian. Thanks for your comprehensive review regarding PDFelement. If it is possible, would you please provide us with some similar examples showing the signature feature you want to achieve or customize? You may drop an email with more details at customer_service@wondershare.com, then our product team can improve it in a more targeted manner. Thanks a lot for your time and patience!

Adobe acrobat

Pros

Adobe acrobat

Cons

Pros

The product is easy to use with a clean and intuitive interface. The editing capabilities are a breeze to use compared to other more expensive PDF software on the market. I like the form creating and editing capabilities as well. The accompanying mobile apps make it versatile and easily accessible on multiple devices

Cons

Sometimes, there are performance issues, especially when dealing with large files. Lacks some advance PDF functions seen in Adobe Acrobat Pro

PDFelement an affordable alternative to Adobe Acrobat

Reviewed 4 years ago

Adobe Acrobat stopped updating because it was not optimized for my new Mac operating system when I updated it. So I went to update it and the price 1) had gone up significantly and 2) they are trying to lock you into a monthly subscription. I was absolutely NOT interested. So I looked at PDF editor alternatives and came across PDFelement. It has been a great option for me. I create a lot of PDF forms and have to edit old documents. I am grateful to have found this product.

Pros

Affordable options for either subscription or license. Compatible with Mac. Professional options for more advanced editing of documents. Team options and ability to purchase for 20+ users.

Cons

There is a small learning curve if you are used to using Adobe Acrobat for so long. But it is a very small curve. No notable cons.

My experience has been mostly positive, but there are a few annoying things with the software

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

It's affordably priced and a much better value for the money than Adobe Acrobat. Converting a document to Word format is simple. Excel conversion needs improvement.

Cons

I don't like that it always defaults to color printing, Every time it updates to a new version, Windows 10 reverts to making Edge the default app for pdf documents. Converting a document to Excel is far more complicated than it needs to be. It's very difficult to convert to Excel and keep the columnar format. The interface for editing a document seems very unintuitive to me.

Vendor response

Hey Jeff, Thank you for your feedback! Apologies for the printer issues - we've received a few similar reports and are looking into it so hopefully it'll be resolved soon. I've also experienced the same difficulty in getting Windows 10 to retain the apps I set as default. I read a bit into it and it seems as though it's not a problem restricted to PDFelement!

Reviewed a year ago

Pros

Cons

Reviewed 2 years ago

Great Alternative to Adobe PDF

Reviewed 3 years ago

We use it every day to edit and modify PDF files. It's fast and it adheres to most drag and drop movements. However, if multiple PDF files needs to be combined, it needs to be done one by one.

Pros

This is a great piece of software that is an awesome substitution for Adobe Acrobat. It works well and the compression is nice, but it is not that lossless. It works, but it does downscale some graphics.

Cons

The licensing model really needs to be improved. There is a charge for every upgrade, although at the time of purchase, nothing like this was mentioned. Being that there are lots of licenses that were involved, this upgrade fee would be quite expensive.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Get's the job done. Able to create PDF's and more importantly, edit PDF's. Installation was very easy to do, and program updates itself automatically, which is a big plus.

Cons

Interface is not as clean/streamlined as it could be. Some functions, such as combining multiple PDF's into one "master" PDF is not easy to do. Adobe Acrobat Pro is actually easier to use for this particular function.

Excellent PDF Software. Way better than Adobe Acrobat Pro and way cheaper, too! Highly recommend!

Reviewed 6 years ago

We dropped our monthly Adobe software subscription and wanted just Acrobat Pro. Way too expensive. Saved a tremendous amount of money by going with Element, and the extra benefit was this is a superior piece of software.

Pros

Great features. Excellent for all types of document management. Fast on tasks like combine and create PDFs. Easy page navigation and management. Overall just an excellent piece of software.

Cons

The Add Text feature is a little lame. Having to click on it each time to add text seems underdeveloped. This could be greatly improved. Click on it one time and it should be activated for as long as you are adding text to a document. Also, at times I experience weird font issues where it will change fonts or change bold/regular while editing text. I think overall the graphic design/text management could be improved upon. It's not bad, it's just that it could be way better.

Vendor response

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the suggestion on the "Add Text" feature, I totally agree with you! Best, Rebecca

Don't waste your money

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall you get more bang for your buck with Adobe Acrobat. Adobe has community support as well as individual support and is widely accepted across many platforms. The forms I created in PDF Element did not open properly in other softwares so the forms could not be filled out. This company is a sham. Don't waste your money

Pros

If I was going to say something positive about this software it would be that it was easy to learn. The interface is self explanatory and it only took me fiddling around with it a few times to get what I wanted.

Cons

Poor customer service. I needed help on a form so submitted a ticket. They only respond at 2am so it was a few days of going back and forth to then finally get the answer that their program is not compatible with landscape pages, only portrait. This was a deal breaker for me. I submitted a ticket for a refund and my account was immediately deactivated but I never received the refund.

Pros

The product is very versatile and allows for wide manipulation of PDF documents. I like it for combining multiple PDF documents and being able to employ a flexible Bates Numbering system.

Cons

Admittedly, many of the features are not super intuitive and take some time to learn. The digital signature setting is, in my opinion, inferior to the one in Adobe Reader, at least on a computer (rather than a tablet).

Transitioning from Acrobat was easier than expected

Reviewed 6 years ago

I didn't get to be robbed by Adobe for their software. Upon renting another current Adobe product, that application uninstalled my paid version Acrobat Pro. This is a very underhanded tactic to get users to purchase/lease new software. With WonderShare I get nearly immediate response to any problems I might have. I get a well developed software that has never crashed (can't say that about Acrobat) and once it was paid for, it was freely my own. This is a great product and I will continue to recommend it.

Pros

Everything that I look for in Acrobat without the ridiculous price or rental fees. It's fast and efficient and well thought out. Some of the layout could use tweaking but everything takes time and I'm very satisfied with how it works.

Cons

There are a couple glitches that can be frustrating. Although the software is updated regularly, upon each update/upgrade it loses its file association to PDFs. When printing from an application to PDF, very often if PDF Element is not open the print does not complete although the application does open. Obviously you can print a second time, but it is something to take note of. I keep a desktop folder of PDF files that gets updated daily and when using PDF Element is opened it defaults only to the desktop and not the same folder. There doesn't appear to be a setting for this default. And the biggest con for me that is the most annoying is that it does not support WIA or TWAIN and you cannot scan directly into the application to PDF like you would normally do with Acrobat.

Vendor response

Hey Brian, Glad to hear that you had an easy transition! Thank you for your detailed notes on printing PDFs. I've reported it to the developers who will take a look. Best, Rebecca

I use for 2 years pdfelemant, now I'm using AR DC. It's totally different and easy and not heavy.

Pros

I really enjoy from easy to use and less usage space.

Cons

Easy to use!, there is another software like pdfelement too complicated.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Way overpriced, makes it very hard for new & budding businesses

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Universally accepted and tends to run very well. It has nice features, even though it costs extra to use them.

Cons

The subscription pricing is outrageous and is tough for small businesses. There are cheaper options out there that actually work very well (ie PDFelement)
