There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this software. It might irritate to have the errors exposed so often.

I used Grammarly for 10 years but recently they keep threatening to discontinue support of integrations. Thier Microsoft Office Integration was official discontinued over a year ago although it is still available and functional but not promoted. Grammarly integrations are not that great and their where no improvements, things just got worse. The integrations in ProWritingAid all work and are easy to install.

My overall experience has been wonderful. I have not found a better program. I think maybe you need to look into adding non-typical words and spellings. It doesn't like some of the spelling I use for my fantasy novel. Such as the word Fae and other mythical creatures.

It is better than Grammarly. Also other programs out there. This program is vital for my work now.

With English, my fifth language, writing books and doing copy for WEB sites is challenging. I use Word 365 which includes an editor, but I found Pro Writing Aid better. I tried the other Grammarly too but did not like their support. So, PRA for me, anytime, then it got better!

They upgraded it with a few things that I thought would be great and many that I never knew I needed.

So, for me, Pro Writing Aid all the way for authoring my books and copy for my web pages.

I am enjoying PWA. I have been a user for over two years - I am a journalist and creative writer - I put it through its paces the first year and a half to see where and how I would use it. I am still learning what it can do. There are times that PWA Everywhere can get in the way; but for the most part it is a very useful tool.

Great Editing Tool

I started with a couple of very short stories, using the free offering. The punctuation/grammar tips and the insight into my style were incredibly helpful. I incorporated the feedback immediately. When I shared the stories, updated with the suggestions, with my beta readers, they mentioned how much my writing had improved. I quickly realized this tool could become of immense value to me and signed up for the Premium subscription, because I'm a beginner writer who hasn't published yet. Since then, I've used the tool on two books in manuscript form, on blog posts and on short stories. The help has been terrific!

Big benefits whatever you write

It's intuitive, easy to use and motivates the corrections, and lets you choose at the end. I also like the style guide and that you can choose what kind of writing you are doing so it gets looked at accordingly.

                                                       When I first started writing, I used Grammarly. That was very helpful just as an introduction to getting editing help that wasn't a real person, plus something I could have on my computer and that it would help me with whatever article or story I was working on. But the problem came with Grammarly when it didn't give me any help with the big picture, so my entire sentence. Yes, it may help me spell a word correctly, but that was no better than Microsoft Word spell check that I've had since elementary school. I really needed something to help me with the editing, more specifically towards sentence structure and the thought behind the writing. So, that's when I switched to ProWritingAid from Grammarly.
                                                       When I wanted to switch from Grammarly to ProWritingAid, I looked at the cost, and I did the trial first to explore and see if it really would help my writing. When I started using it, I was blown away, and I said, "I really need this because this is going to help me immensely with my writing." So, I really just looked at the cost and the value of the product, and I knew that within an entire year, it's very reasonably priced, and I would use it, and it would be worth that price. That's why I went ahead and bought the whole annual membership.
                                                       Getting started with ProWritingAid was really easy. I like the icons at the top because they all have pictures, and it tells me very clearly what each item does when I click on it. It only took a week or so to look around and explore what all of the possibilities were. But as soon as I found the grammar button, I knew I was going to use that the most. So, that was the first thing I went into. I haven't explored every single option on the toolbar, but I use the grammar one all the time. I use the repeats and echoes because when I write, I repeat myself a lot and use the same words. So that tells me what I can change and edit to make better. So, getting used to the product did not take very long at all. It was really easy.
                                                       I use ProWritingAid as a editing partner. I can't afford a real editor. I would love to, but I can't. I can't afford that right now. So having an editor in my computer that I can copy and paste any story, article, short, long, just throw it in there. And if I want to work on it for days and weeks, I can because they have a thesaurus. They have all of these options that you can explore to make your writing more vivid, make it make sense, get the structure and the length of each sentence correct. And it shows you how long your sentences are, so you can see if you have too many long sentences or too many short sentences. You could edit forever. You have to finish the product at some point. You have to finish the story. You have to finish the article, the essay. You have to turn it in. But ProWritingAid has been extremely useful to give me a second pair of eyes and a broad spectrum of things that I can change to make my writing truly better.
                                                       SO, if you need something that's a little bit better than Grammarly, and you're willing to pay a little bit just to have an extra editor right there at your fingertips at all times, I would definitely recommend ProWritingAid because it has an unlimited amount of help for writers. Writing is really lonely. And if you know you're a good writer, at least you want to become a better writer, and you want to give yourself a chance to explore what you can do on your own with just a little bit of help, I think ProWritingAid is exactly that. I think it's friend for writers. It has helped me a lot, so I definitely recommend it.

                                                       I considered Grammarly and Hemingway as two apps, looking at what they provide, looking at the kind of grammar checks that they do, but found ProWritingAid to provide much more in a much more useful manner.
                                                       I chose ProWritingAid because of the features. It allows you to open up all kinds of different file formats, whether it's Word docs, text docs, markdown files, Scrivener files, which was something that was very surprising to me because I used Scrivener. But the fact that it opens up all of these different types of files, as well as letting you create files within ProWritingAid was one of the key features that really jumped out at me. Now beyond that, the features that it offers with its grammar checks, its spelling checks, and more just made it such a compelling choice for me, because it's not just a simple spell check. It's not just a simple grammar check. It looks at pretty much every possible angle you could think of concerning your writing and provides a lot of meaningful feedback.
                                                       In addition to that, it gives you a lot of great rationales for the recommendations it makes. So you not only improve your content as you're doing, you actually learn. So if something is flagged and you're not sure why, it provides you with that contextual information so that why it flagged something for a certain reason. And that has been tremendously helpful to me.
                                                       ProWritingAid was so easy to integrate into my workflow. It worked right out of the box, so to speak. I was able to incorporate a lot of the content that I was working on at the time into the tool right away with very little modification or changing profiles or changing preferences or things like that. It just worked right out of the box. And it has been very seamless. I've been able to both incorporate Word docs that I'm working on as well as content that I'm working on with the developer into it, to see, okay, does this content work? Are there any issues with it that I need to be aware of? So it's been really easy to utilize in my day to day work.
                                                       So the things that I recommend about people who are considering ProWritingAid is that one, it's a great tool. It is a tremendously helpful tool if you're a writer or an editor, or you just want to get better at what you're doing, even if you're just writing day-to-day stuff, whether it's emails to friends or family, it works regardless of the context, whether you're at work or at school, or just casual writing for friends or for yourself, it is a tremendous aid in making your writing better.
                                                       And not only that, one of the other things that I really like about ProWritingAid is that it has a very thriving and vocal community of users. The website has tons of resources that teach things about writing and writing for different types of formats and different types of genres. There is a thriving community of users who are constantly sharing things that they've learned in using it, giving advice, giving recommendations. In fact, those are resources that I've used, both the community resources as well as the resources that ProWritingAid offers, and those have helped me tremendously, not only in my professional career, but also just in my side projects or hobbies or things that I'm interested in. So for all of those reasons, I think it is obvious that this is just a great tool and it offers much more than just grammar check or spelling check.
