Pros

The best features of Slack are its innovative interface and easy to use features. Slack makes it simple, and even kind of fun, to communicate with your coworkers quickly.

AR

Anonymous Reviewer

I like the different slack channels for various departments, tech-support, team, individual messaging, and celebrating my teams successes or helping each other out with account challenges.

SA

Sarah A.

Slack has been a winner for me no matter which role I am filling. Teams adopt it quickly it's easy to use, easy to set up, and has abundant opportunities for integrations.

EJ

Elyse J.

Pros

Excellent features & cross-device compatibility. Works great on all devices, and has a lot of cool features really helpful in IM and community management.

I'm satisfied with the features and I always recommend it to my friends and relatives. It's easy to use and very secure.

AR

Wire has reliably been advanced as the 'secured' educating option and it fulfills its name. It moreover gives a ton of significant blend features through its bot and channel APIs.

TN

Cons

While they are only visible to me, I am always worried that I accidentally posted something wrong.

AR

Anonymous Reviewer

I disliked the inability to make a public group "private" after it's creation. Would occasionally lag and my.

AR

Anonymous Reviewer

I hate hate hate how often I struggle with using the video share and audio when someone calls me on slack. It almost never works for me.

DR

Dianne R.

Cons

It also had a habit of not notifying you even if you have notifications on which was annoying and frustrating.

AR

Anonymous Reviewer

Desktop notifications can be sometimes annoying. Sometimes in desktop, notifications flood the screen and blocks other programs, which is annoying.

FA

Fon A.

Some system errors are annoying at times, such as the search engine that does not work well at times, messages that do not send, and some less relevant ones.

We've forgotten email communication after joining Slack

Reviewed 3 years ago

We're a remote first Startup so it's very essential for us to communicate and co-ordinate on a real time basis.

Pros

The massive availablity of native integrations is the reason we've joined Slack. Secondly sharing files and links is damn easy on it.

Cons

The pricing. Seriously there're many free alternatives like Telegram, Microsoft Teams & Whatsapp.

Not so good as people say

Reviewed a year ago

I use it daily with my teams in UI/UX work to keep track of projects.

Pros

Integration plugins with other services like Jira, GitHub, Invision and more. You can keep track and save your conversations, tasks and files.

Cons

It's expensive and difficult to use at a first time compared to other similar purpose softwares like Telegram.

Slack

Get rid of internal email threads and whatsapp groups prolification at once

Reviewed 4 years ago

I managed to allow and even promote discussions on specific projects, business topics, without risking to have valuable knowledge dispersed in non-corporate tools.

Pros

Slack has the ease of use and fluidity of whatsapp-like tools, quickly allowing people to create topic-specific threads, keeping the corporate manageability of email.

Cons

The mobile app could be improved just copying features or interface solution from Telegram and Whatsapp, to be just as user friendly.

Slack

it's good for an organization

Reviewed 3 years ago

- Member management - File Upload management - Centralize user management (G-suite)

Pros

Easy to manage members, Single Sign-On, Group and Share Channel (Acctually it's needed to have more features for share channel)

Cons

The interface seems not end-user oriented. Ya, As a technical guy, I can use it easily. But for end-user, you need something more simple. We used to use telegram, skype, what'sapp for our company. The end-users complain alot about the interface after they changed from telegram. Anw, It's still good for us because it can be integrated to other product like JIRA, Google, etc.

Slack

Got too complicated

Reviewed 3 years ago

Kept our team in constant communication, but as per my Cons (above) we abandoned Slack...it's just not for us a mostly non-technical group of business persons.

Pros

Many people use it, integrations. Stable.

Cons

Way too many integrations, bots, features started to get added on so it became untenable to navigate all the 'feature noise', so I switched to Telegram for its simplicity.

Smooth company messenger

Reviewed 3 years ago

Slack has been a real productivity tool for us and really got integrated into our business workflow.

Pros

Slack simply replaced our email. We almost do not use email and slack lets us do stuff almost online. Speeds us our way of work. I like mentions features like @channel and @here that lets us notify a group. Also, search is quite powerful.

Cons

The speed of interface is not as fast at it should be. The platform specific applications should be native like telegram. Also, unavailability of read receipts is a big miss.

Slack

a convenient messaging app

Reviewed 3 years ago

Slack provides me a good platform to communication with people, especially in group context. I enjoy it.

Pros

it provides a convenient way to chat or message people, especially in a group context. Moreover, you can join as many groups as you like. In conferences, it provides a constant & efficient Q&A platform. You can set to ignore notifications when you have bedtime.

Cons

It consumes a lot of memory. Another thing to consider is messages are not highly encoded for security. So if you need a safer texting platform, consider other choices like Telegram.

Free works Fine!

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

I don't pay for the only piece of software that we have adopted as an agency from day 1. The software is a consistent communication channel for everything work related. We're able to segment out teams & projects.

Cons

Sometimes Slack is down. Its not a lightweight application like Telegram - Since we don't pay - I wish there was a way to 'ignore all' warnings about my files being safe in slack & such.

ICoom in Slack

Reviewed 2 months ago

I love slack, but I think its value is for fast internal communication. Not a lot for video or document sharing.

Pros

Is the best communication tool. Easy to use, you can have a lot of channels and bots and it seems like the info won't get lost because it is all organized.

Cons

The free version is great and I wouldn't see why to pay for the use, since you probably have free options in case you really must (in your package with the email provider or tools like Telegram, discord, etc)

Slack

Best Professional Messaging Platform

Reviewed 3 years ago

I would recommend every office/workplace to start using slack instead of WhatsApp or telegram as it very handy and professional app and you can also use the status feature to notify your peers if you are busy or out of office.

Pros

Slack is better than telegram and WhatsApp as it has the following features which make this product better than other products/apps in the market: 1.)The user an make a channel specifically for a particular technology like a team of python developers can make a channel for themselves and share the new updates in the particular channel. 2.)You can integrate a chatbot in the slack application so for FAQ's or general queries, the employee can easily get it from a chatbot. 3.) You can share updates in the #general channel as well. # General channel allows you to interact with each and every employee of your workplace.

Cons

Some of the cons of slack are: 1.) You cannot do audio or video conferencing in slack with more options, you have to use skype or zoom for this. 2.) Sometimes the notifications from slack are not displayed if someone post in the #general channel

which is a good application for daily use in the groups of operations of technologies, administration, failures among others, since you can place different discussion topics without losing the order

Pros

I like the product is the use of threads to attach topics of conversation in a certain group, that is to say that in a group of chat formed by several people you can classify the different topics of ideal conversation for the administrative use of a company

Cons

It is difficult to unravel a conversation, from the chat thread but after a while of using it, it becomes a habit and it is easier, but its use is a little complex and more if you are used to other applications such as telegram

How can your team communicate without Slack?

Reviewed 4 years ago

We're really happy since joining Slack for our all official communications and file sharing. And we do recommend it to all those team for comm. and cordination.

Pros

It's magic bullet for us, as RTIwala one of very few remote first startup in India and we're totally relying on it. There's very high number of integrations we get on Slack and it's saving our time, money and efforts by fetching details from many others apps and online tools.

Cons

Earlier we have been using Flock which is quite affordable but lacks many essential integrations. And we've found Slack quite costly in terms of INR as it's nearly 10x costlier than Flock that too when we've so many free alternative like Telegram, Workplace by Facebook and MS Teams.

The main messenger of our bank

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Slack helped us get rid of the chaos with messengers. Previously, we could not decide where all employees should communicate, because we lacked the functionality of different messengers. Whatsapp does not have normal group chats, there are no video calls in Telegram, and Skype is poorly connected. And in Slack we found everything we were looking for.

Cons

On weak computers, Slack slows down, and it communicates on the quality of the connection. If I open Photoshop and 10 tabs in a browser on my computer, using the service will already be difficult.

Hesitant at First

Reviewed 4 years ago

It took a little while for me to get used to Slack, but now I love it. A lower price point would entice me to scale from 50 users to 200 users at my company and start recommending shared spaces with other companies. Instead, we'll use Skype or Telegram for those extra 150 users.

Pros

Slack is pretty dynamic and feature-rich for a messaging app, especially if you pay for it.

Cons

The value proposition isn't great. I'd like to see a lower price point for the service.

Slack - own your business!

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Slack has free and paid version. My company used free version first, but later we decided tou paid, which opened doors to more useful features, which we love. You can simply create Zoom meting, create special tag for team, use gifs, polls etc. Also there is very adjustable do not disturb mode, but if you really needed by colleague, they can send notification through it, and you won't miss it!

Cons

I wish all variety of features would be more accessible, like creating not simple polls, or sharing multiple photos, the could be groupped automatically. I miss voice messages, would love to see stickers option like in Telegram, in addition to custom emojis. It is professional tool, but work family is about ease of communication.
