VPO overview

What is VPO?

VPO is construction project management software purpose-built for capital program owners and construction management firms. It gives project teams, program leaders, and executive stakeholders a single, secure platform to manage every phase of project delivery — from planning and procurement through construction and closeout — with real-time visibility across the entire portfolio.

Portfolio-Level Command Center

Unlike tools designed for contractors and then retrofitted for owners, VPO is built from the ground up for the people accountable for capital program outcomes. VPO aggregates data from every active project into one view, so leadership can see which projects are at risk, where budgets are trending, and what needs attention — without waiting on manual rollups or status report compilations.

Structured Workflows That Create Accountability

VPO provides dedicated modules for RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, punch lists, meeting minutes, bidding, drawing issuance, document management, invoicing, payments, and archiving. Each module uses Ball-in-Court routing and automated email notifications to keep items moving, while every action is date-stamped and tracked to create a complete audit trail. If there is ever a claim or dispute, the record is already there.

Built on Microsoft 365

VPO runs natively on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, so teams work in the cloud-based tools they already know — from desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones. There is no new platform for IT to vet, no additional security review to restart, and no software license for external collaborators like architects, engineers, and contractors to purchase. Data is protected by Microsoft's enterprise-grade infrastructure with role-based permissions controllable down to the item level.

Configurable Without Customization Projects

VPO ships with 40 years of construction management best practices built into every workflow, but it is not rigid. The platform is configurable to match each organization's processes, terminology, and reporting needs — including custom fields, views, dashboards, and Power BI integrations — without requiring IT involvement or costly customization engagements.

Rapid Deployment and Full-Service Support

VPO's QuickStart onboarding methodology gets teams into production in weeks, not months. Every subscription includes unlimited administration and end-user support, ongoing system configuration, and hands-on training. VPO manages the environment so internal teams can focus on delivering projects, not maintaining software.

Who Uses VPO

VPO serves public sector organizations — municipalities, utilities, school districts, housing authorities, and state agencies — as well as private sector owners in industrial, commercial real estate, energy, and facilities. Construction management and program management firms also use VPO to standardize delivery and scale operations across client portfolios. The platform has supported more than 10,000 projects and over $50 billion in capital programs worldwide, with customers including Nucor, Adobe, Lockheed Martin, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Key Capabilities

Portfolio dashboards and reporting, RFI and submittal management, change order tracking, document control and drawing issuance, bidding, budget and cost management, scheduling, daily field reports, punch lists, meeting minutes, invoicing and payments, archiving, API and ERP integration, and Power BI reporting.
