Factora is a REST API that generates German e-invoices for software vendors, ERP and SaaS providers and integrators. A single POST request with invoice data in JSON returns a finished XRechnung 3.0 invoice (XML) or a ZUGFeRD/Factur-X hybrid invoice (PDF/A-3 with embedded XML).

Validation: every invoice is checked with the official KoSIT validator before it is returned; ZUGFeRD PDFs are additionally validated with veraPDF. If the validator is temporarily unavailable, nothing is finalized (fail-closed).

Calculation and tax logic: Factora calculates line totals, document totals and the VAT breakdown according to EN 16931, accepts small rounding differences from the calling system and reports them. VAT categories such as standard, zero-rated, exempt, reverse charge, intra-community supply and small business are derived from the transaction facts or checked; insufficient facts lead to a precise error instead of a guessed category.

Developer features: free sandbox with test keys, idempotency keys for safe retries, webhooks, error responses with the affected business term (BT) and a hint, an OpenAPI specification and a TypeScript SDK. A separate endpoint checks whether a German invoice has to be issued as an e-invoice.

Multi-tenancy: integrators manage their customers as tenants with their own seller master data, number ranges and branding (logo, letterhead, footer logos).

Security and hosting: hosted in the EU, API keys stored only as SHA-256 hashes, optional IP allowlists per key.

Pricing: free sandbox; live usage from EUR 49 per month including 250 invoices, billed per finalized live invoice.
