customer support is bad - you can only chat with someone - and most things are escalated to the next level of support but it can take several days days/weeks to get things resoved.

Owner

I was attracted to Taxdome's features like anyone else would be when looking at it from almost two years ago. Once I was a customer of theirs though and could see the effort they put into answering their customers on Facebook and communicating when something is broken, getting community feedback and votes to decide the next project, and using open community testers for new features.

Trusted by 15,000+ tax, bookkeeping, and accounting firms, TaxDome is the #1-rated practice management platform for CPAs and EAs — combining workflow automation, CRM, document management, client portal, and billing in one connected hub.

Insufficient scheduling features

Principal Owner

No scheduling or calendar management software was implemented which means I will need to continue to use other software for that need.

35% of reviewers feel negative about TaxDome’s calendar and scheduling capabilities. Users report that the platform lacks integrated appointment scheduling, calendar management, and synchronization with external calendars like Google or Outlook. Reviewers indicate frustration with the inability to schedule meetings, set reminders, or track time effectively within the software. They mention that support appointments are difficult to book and often require long wait times. Users say the absence of robust scheduling tools forces them to rely on other software for these functions.

Time-consuming initial setup

Tax Strategiest

It is very confusing and requires too much time to get setup and running.

There is a lot of set-up involved, and it can be daunting.

38% of reviewers feel negative about TaxDome’s setup process. Users indicate that the initial implementation is complex, requiring significant time and effort to configure the system to their needs. Reviewers mention that setting up workflows, pipelines, and data migration can be overwhelming, especially for those without technical experience. They say the process often feels tedious and daunting, with some features buried in the interface. Many users report that getting everything running smoothly takes longer than anticipated and can be a barrier for new adopters.

Limited and rigid payment options

Neither Stripe nor CPA Charge is a good payment processor solution, there's pros to each and I can't mix/match between them for credit/bank transactions as I'd want to use one for each.

The are a few options that can get confusing, and there's only the option to use stripe, but I use QB payments and can't integrate it with the software.

43% of reviewers feel negative about TaxDome’s payment processing. Users report frustration with the limited integration options, as only Stripe and CPACharge are supported, and they cannot mix providers for different transaction types. Reviewers mention the lack of flexibility for partial payments, recurring billing, and storing credit cards on file. They indicate that annual upfront payments for software licensing are inconvenient, and the inability to use popular alternatives like PayPal or Apple Pay is a drawback. Users also find the billing system less customizable than expected.

Centralized business operations

It is an all-in-one solution so I don't need multiple programs for everything to run my business smoothly.

Web Developer

They find that having everything accessible in a unified system is critical for smooth business operations and enhances their ability to serve clients effectively.

Comprehensive accounting tools

Accountant

There are so many features and it seems like it can really reduce the number of apps needed to run an accounting practise.

Principal Owner

TaxDome is one of the best options for accounting firms looking for practice management.

95% of reviewers feel positive about TaxDome’s accounting capabilities. Users indicate the platform supports a wide range of accounting tasks, including tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and client management. Reviewers appreciate the integration with other accounting and billing software, which they say improves workflow efficiency. Many users highlight the platform’s ability to reduce manual work and centralize accounting operations for firms of various sizes.

Robust security and client portals

TaxDome allows me to securely communicate with my clients and easily share documents, collect signatures, and collect payments.

I love that it integrates a CRM feature, with invoice payments, document storage, secure portals for clients, and e-signatures!

93% of reviewers feel positive about TaxDome’s security and access control features. Reviewers appreciate the secure client portals for document sharing, e-signatures, and communication, which they say protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with industry standards. Users highlight the importance of secure messaging, two-factor authentication, and encrypted storage for maintaining client trust. They indicate that the platform’s security measures make it easy to manage permissions, organize files, and facilitate safe interactions with clients, partners, and team members.

President

It is a great software to streamline client relationship management, allow safe and secure document sharing, automation of tasks like invoicing, sending engagement letters, etc.

Tax Accountant

It took me and the boss a couple weeks to get everything initially set up - all the client accounts & corresponding contacts, personalize the engagement letters, emails, chats, automations, statuses, etc all the things specific to our firm, but once that's all done, it's done, and you're off to the races, only having to tweak minor things from there.

Client Lead

The ability to track my billing hours, view emails from clients, and create tasks helps me to stay on top of my client tax situations and books.

Partner

I wish editing client data was doable in table form after the initial upload. If we could get a nice dense view of client statuses and we can change data from that view, this would finally replace the shared spreadsheet we use to track client status.

It’s a true all-in-one platform that brings client communication, documents, workflows, billing, and payments into one place, which makes running a small, virtual firm much more efficient.

Bookkeeping Manager and Admin Assistant

I love the time tracking feature for bookkeeping, and being able to leave notes with each job helps us to be able to go back and find out what happened with each job easily.

TaxDome brings everything into one place: client portal, tasks, pipelines, organizers, e signatures, invoices, and secure messaging.

Managing Partner

I wanted it to be able to collect payments through CPACharge that I set up with credit cards fees to be paid by clients. When I turn off the integration it still looks like we take payments through portal and clients are annoyed.

Office manager

When you set up a job, you can not make it show on the job list on a scheduled date, it has to be shown at once and makes a little confusion for the job list

Project Coordinator

My firm used to use Sharefile to transmit documents securely to and from clients, and now TaxDome has pretty much replaced Sharefile for us, however, I wish it had the ability to work in a similar way to Sharefile for non-clients because currently we are still haven't to keep Sharefile for people like financial advisors and others who aren't clients so therefore they don't have a good way to securely send us documents through TaxDome.

Enrolled Agent

It feels like a platform designed specifically for tax professionals and accounting firms, and it continues to improve with updates and support resources.

Administrative Assistant

Additionally there is a current issue with editing documents, when saving your changes and moving on, come back to find the document was not in fact saved at all requiring you to edit the document all over again taking more time.

Software Implementation and Interim Management Consultant

TaxDome helps fill that gap by encouraging standardized workflows, which in turn increases efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the firm.

Being able to see what my colleagues are working on and respond to client emails from my colleagues email in case they are out of the office helps keep the work flow efficient.

I really appreciate having documents, signatures, payments, workflows, and client communication all in one place.

My last example is that when I am uploading a POA, I have to upload it to the "Tax Return" Documents folder, to allow them the opportunity to sign it, which is strange because many people would consider that to have been mis-filed.

Senior Tax Analyst

Tax Managment - I like that I was able to manage my team tasks properly, monitor what stage the task is in.

I also do not like that there is no option for me to view a task of certain teammate. Although you can view "All Tasks"

Adding Sub-folders in Docs section, I don't think there was an option that you can directly add a sub-folder.

President - Chief Solutions Officer

It has improved my client communication, enabled me to collect a deposit when an Engagement Letter is signed, and I know what is going on with the return.

It simplifies so much for my business and makes the whole process of engaging with a client, providing tax organizers, e-signing returns, and client invoicing so streamlined.

Bookkeeper

It has documents storage, client can have their own access and be able to view the status of their tax return or bookkeeping without emailing us just to follow up and ask for the status.

The left-hand side bar navigation doesn't feel very organized to me, the TaxDome drive doesn't integrate with Mac, there is no way to make a folder private from all other users in the firm, it only integrates with 2 credit card processors, so I had to switch away from the processor I really like.

I have been a TaxDome user for nearly 4 years now, and I can say this is the one application that has made my life easier for me to stay organized, improve efficiency, track time, improve my workflow, communicate with clients and even has provided a significantly improved client experience for those working with me.

They offer all the features I need to request signatures, store documents by year and project, communicate securely via internal chat, workflows, branded portal, and more.

I love that TaxDome is a place where my clients can submit documents to me, pay their invoices, and get their tax returns from me in one app, in a secure manner.

Tax Dome presents an all-in-one solution for firms, eliminating the need to have various fragmented software to manage clients, workflow, electronic signatures, communications and document storage.

The app functionality for clients is super efficient as it allows them to sign documents, retrieve documents and pay invoices all off of their mobile phone.

Being able to invoice, provide documents and request e-signature, as well as store all information (with or without client access) is a game-changer for my firm.

Administrator

Features like customizable workflows and AI-powered analytics helped us automate routine tasks and gain actionable insights into revenue and team performance.

Clean UI and strong features overall, but slow drive performance and lag can impact efficiency and workflow consistency

Managing Director

The platform is a powerhouse for automation, allowing me to streamline everything from client onboarding to document collection and e-signatures.

They initially allowed us to set up either a 15 minute or 45 minute 1-on-1 phone call with a customer support person to go over various questions/issues/ideas that we had, and now it all has to go via email or chat which are NOT as efficient in my opinion.

Client access - if a client accesses a signature request link on a shared computer that is already logged on as a different client (spouses) unless they log out, the spouses' signature prompts will be used and they get confused as to why they can't sign.

I use TaxDome for everything in my firm - onboarding, offboarding, tracking leads, and even my administrative tasks.

The biggest downside is the learning curve, especially for new users. With so many features available, it can take time to fully understand how to set everything up correctly.

Founder

Task management, job allocation, work proposals, approvals, electronic signatures and folder sharing

Taxdome has been essential in improving our efficiency in receiving documents, not only with tax returns, but with audits, as well.

It allows me to easily automate organizers and engagement letters, and the reminder feature (for organizers, engagement letters and invoices) save me hours in and of itself.

I love the fact that you can do so much securely, such as sending proposals and engagement letters, receiving payments, communicating with clients, sending organizers, setting up workflows and more.

Director of Process Development and Training

When creating organizers having to move questions up and down on the page is a little awkward.

Enrolled Agent - Accountant

I also like that we can charge the client within TaxDome by connecting our Stripe account.

For now, the only con of the software I can think of is not being able to separate team access by type of service such as bookkeeping versus tax preparation which I am sure is on the work because they regularly collect feedback to improve and add new functionalities.

Managing Partner – Accounting and Tax Operations

Having automated processes, guided procedures, and different integrations—such as team chat, client communication channels, and automated payment and billing integrated into the client portal, where clients can choose the payment option that best suits them and process the payment themselves—has brought a lot of efficiency to our daily workflow.

CPA PFS, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER

The combination of web portal with a built-in client scanner, document management, workflow management, client communications, client billings and electronic signature combines all of the necessary features required for a modern electronic or virtual tax or accounting based practice.

Flexibility to create workflows that work for my firm as well as the ability to lock invoices to the returns.

Tax Pro

It has helped me stay far more organized with client communication, document management, task tracking, and workflow automation.
