Pros

It is a very stable system with useful features. Easy to implement with good technical support.
The flexibility of being able to use the app and website. Super easy to use and fun navigation on the website.
The ease as an employee was wonderful. Also added benefit you get your tax forms earlier than by mail which is a super plus.

Pros

The implementation team was great when we were getting this started as they were very helpful and answered all of our questions.
This product was recommended by our CPA who uses it for his own office. That recommendation was good enough for us and it has proven to be an invaluable asset to our business.
Great service, great app, great website. User friendly, leaves me with no questions after checking my breakdowns every pay period.

Cons

The site itself is hard to navigate to as ADP has a few other portals. There are also a number of features and views that are not utilized by our company so the robustness of the software is lost.
I hate to be negative however my experiences using this program on behalf of my client have been excruciating.
There really isn't much aside from the lack of error messages. When something goes wrong it doesn't really tell you what is going wrong so it's hard to know what to fix.

Cons

I never criticize publicly about an organization but this one was so very unprofessional and even made worse by the outrageous fees they charge.
It can be a problem to login to the work site which is frustrating when trying to clock in or clock out on time.
Just about everything else. Its not user-friendly, its customer service is terrible and we get so many complaints for employees, as the admin I have limited resources to help.

ADP Workforce Now

Custom solution to fit any business size/type.

Reviewed 3 years ago

We switched from Paychex to ADP as we outgrew the Paychex platform. Happy with the switch, despite the occasional headache.

Pros

I like that ADP gives you complete control over all aspects of HR & Payroll within workforce now.

Cons

Because it is so customizeable, there can be issues getting feaetures working or fixed. Also, the sales and implementation team are hard to get ahold of once paperwork is finalized. They seem to disappear and work on their own schedule without feedback, regular updates on progress, etc.

Ease and Reliability

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, I would recommend ADP over Paychex anyday

Pros

I love that ADP makes it easy to use for tracking work, adding time off requests, and viewing paystubs, as well as W-2's from previous years.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is the "Alert" system. being notified of request being made, or approved. Also being able to add new employees with "management" privileges.

Bad Experience

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

Big name and company, liked my rep, better than Paychex, got 3 free months, time and attendance is ok

Cons

Where do I begin, implementation was a nightmare, super expensive, no integration with my 401K platform John Hancock unless I use theirs, still use mainframe database, system goes down, too many windows open up, ugly UI, customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Never again.

Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to review our WFN product. I am sorry to hear about your experience thus far with ADP. However, I would love to hear more about your implementation process and possibly connect you with the appropriate resources. Please feel free to reach out: Anthony.woodard@adp.com

Jennifer's ADP Review

One of the BEST experiences I have had with a company - everyone is so friendly too when I need help with something.

Pros

How easy it is to use as an administrator as well as an employees. How I only need 1 login for both of my accounts and I am able to do pretty much anything and everything with the access I have. Very rarely is it hard to find or figure something out on my own where I need to ask an employee.

Cons

I can't say there is anything I don't like about this product. I love ADP a lot more then when we were with Paychex.

ADP Workforce Now is a good product and it helps get rid of the paper systems, which is great. It does take a lot of internal commitment and training, so a capacity assessment should be considered before getting involved with ADP WFN.

Pros

It handles all HR functions from recruitment to employee management, payroll through to retirement/termination.

Cons

It is dependent on a company to have the capacity to drive the product, maintain it and handle the payroll more so than the traditional ADP or PayChex.

Vendor response

Debbie - Thank you for taking the time to provide such an insightful review of our WFN product. I think your advice on training to other clients and prospects is excellent. we strive to make our products easy to use, but there is always some commitment to expand learning. I think it is a great way to see when you are punching in and out but if you have flex time not having the ability to adjust your time card yourself is a hassle.

Pros

That I can see my statements and hours from any where.

Cons

That I don't have the option of adjusting my time card to my actual hours being worked each week.

In general the Workforce Now software works well. We have tried Paychex in the past and prefer ADP.

Reviewed 6 years ago

Time savings for weekly payroll runs an good reporting for compilation information

Pros

Generally easy to use. All functions needed are available from the menus. We like the look of the screens in general but, see below, some could use improvement for layout. Compared to Paychex this is definitely a better product.

Cons

Some of the weekly workflow screens are not laid out well to facilitate going from timecards, to paydata, to preview. It seems somewhat confusing because the screens are not laid out in a way that makes if obvious what to do next.

Hi Dave - Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of our WFN system. We appreciate your business and loyalty to ADP!

Works well!

Reviewed 5 years ago

It has been 5 years and so far it is working best to meet our needs. From NuView, CompPay, to Paychex.. this works the best. It is easy to navigate and can store everything about HR in one place.

Pros

1. This is a total "HRIS", from on-boarding to payroll 2. It is easy to set up 3. It has Icloud function, no more paper or storing employee's information on a server 4. It has Carrier Connection so that you can tie your benefits to ADP system 5. It has many a la carte features 6. Are many ways to run report 7. Many employee self service features 8. Can access via mobile phone 9. Tight security to the site

Cons

1. Tight security (employee has to contact admn for lock out) 2. Customer service is not the best

Not perfect for every employees work....

Reviewed 4 years ago

There should be an option to submit total work hours on a daily basis versus only having the clock in/out option. Not every employee needs to have their hours tracked daily and would rather have an automated submission per pay period. If vacation/sick time or any updates need to be made, then we should be allowed to edit before submitting.

Pros

I like the user friendly dashboard. It's great to see all of the information I need in one place. It's also very simple and easy to submit time off.

Cons

The mobile app and the desktop has crashed a few times and I have had to email HR to fix the clock in/out times. I don't understand why clock times are flagged for being a minute too short. There should be a flex time for that.

centralized cloud based payroll and time attendance instead of having multiple systems,

Pros

Time & Attendance integrated into payroll is great. Having taxes done is awesome. I love that it keeps getting updated and the updates are good.

Cons

Slow 941s, ability to edit schedule while looking at this weeks time card, payroll register should be alphabetical, deduction goals are confusing, need workmans comp report like Paychex had. would be nice if Security, GLI, SmartCompience, are more integrated into the WorkforceNow instead of going to different screens. Password policy settings would be great.

Built for the large company in mind

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall is works well. UI is rather dated vs a the PayChex platform I have used before. It does everything we need which is nice but it does a whole lot more (geared to larger companies) and all of that extra functionality can really get in the way when navigating through the system. We came from a PEO so these minor drawbacks are far outweighed by the money we saved in fees. Onboarding was long but we had someone from ADP with us the entire time.

Pros

Significantly less expensive then PEO platform Ability to do everything you want (payroll, onboarding, reviews etc)

Cons

UI is a bit dated Rather complicated with all the functionality - again built for large companies that will use it for a variety of items not jus typical payroll, onboarding etc.

The performance doesn't live up to the name

Reviewed 4 years ago

Go with Gusto or Payflex (Paychex?) -- or almost any other provider. The only reason to recommend ADP is if you need the multi-state reporting within the same month on a per employee basis and don't feel the other solutions can handle that. Alternatively, be prepared to commit significant time and resources to get it to work properly -- and assume support is simply non-existing. Their online resource, The Bridge, is about only way we survived, and that was often getting lucky time and again, e.g., even to run simple reports.

Pros

Our payroll always executed once it was configured -- and the platform supports working in multiple states throughout the month per employee.

Cons

Payroll is one of those things you don't switch once you start, and that's our story with ADP. We were on RUN and later Workforce Now, and both were awful to configure, and execute, and customer support was almost non-existent. The worst issue was a $9000 tax credit error that took us three quarters to correct after the paperwork was lost by their team through a series of *three* repeat claims. We also had employees get mispaid by the system at least twice, which again was time-consuming and awful to correct.

ADP Workforce Now

Necessary for some companies, I'll explain

Reviewed 6 years ago

If your company is in that awkward stage situation where you either don't have your own payroll or don't have your in-house payroll software, utilizing something like ADP is necessary. It is useful because ADP allows you to either completely outsource, or partially where you maintain your in-house payroll dept., but use their software. You can even cut your own checks or have ADP do it. They are...

Pros

It is feature rich compared to some timekeeping and payroll based software. The level of integration is unsurpassed and your ability to choose how involved ADP is with your outsourcing of payroll is helpful based on the size of your company.

Cons

Much like a lot of the legacy software that has been around forever cornering the market (think Deltek or Photoshop), ADP is horrible archaic software circa 90s that has never evolved. Often, newer payroll/accounting software is far superior aesthetically and based on how intuitive it is to use. That's because they created their software with modern design and programming methods. Programs like ADP have been around forever and feel like it. They create upgrades, but almost as a consequence of their market-share and size, they can only do moderate changes for fear of creating too many implementation problems with all of their clients.

Better than the competition, and it's secure

Reviewed 5 years ago

This system was preferred before switching to ADP, however their cost at the time resulted in us switching to ADP

Pros

I like the fact they require two factor authentication. Their customer service used to be good and is still decent compared to ADP. Their system can be fully customized for reports and coding purposes. Their reporting is much better than ADP

Cons

Their support has gone down hill in the last year in addition to their pricing is about 20% higher than ADP on most items. Lacks an employee portal standard on all plans

So much better than ADP

Reviewed 6 years ago

It is good I prefer it over ADP. Also, the faceID login makes it so simple on my iPhone.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use and I never get locked out of it like ADP. The iPhone app is easy to use and shows me all of my pay stub info in one spot. Prior to this software, a previous company used ADP. ADP was old and clunky. Paycheck flex is easy and clean to use much more modern.

Cons

So far nothing I'm a able to see my pay stubs and tax documents on one spot.

Average Payroll Software with Horrific Service

Reviewed 7 years ago

ADP is hands down the superior service provided for marginal more expense

Pros

- Attractive pricing with negotiations - Performs all necessary payroll activity in one location and sign on

Cons

- Horrific level of service: Tax documents not sent by deadlines, personnel unwilling or unable to help, implementation leaders with limited service and knowledge - App of inferior quality

Easy to use

Reviewed 3 years ago

Very good, much better than what we used to use which was ADP

Pros

It's very easy to use and find what you need. I love that I can toggle and clock in easily. I also love that everything is in one place. I like the extra security as well.

Cons

I don't like that the clock in and out moves so quickly. It can blank out and I'll need to refresh.

I loved using paychex! It was easy to track and edit employee punches.

Cons

Not much that I didn't like about it. My company just switched to ADP. Paychex was better!

Wouldn't recommend

Reviewed 2 years ago

Poor, either it didnt have all the features for a company of our size or it was never implemented by our payroll team. I assume its the first as our subsequent systems have all hard PTO and time tracking integrated.

Pros

This software is a poor mans ADP. It was most useful as a time clock for our deployment

Cons

Software struggled with punches, PTO and reporting. As a manager of a large team it was very difficult to track PTO or who was scheduled to be out with out the use of another product.

Great Software

overall you get more for your buck with Paychex than other software's like ADP or UltiPro (UKG)

Pros

You get one dedicated representative for all your payroll issues. Also, processing payroll is easier.

Cons

The standard reporting function does not allow you run custom reports. You need to pay for custom reports.

I love PayChex this is the only other application I will use outside of ADP software.

Pros

I love how detailed it is as far as my pay information goes and my other HR issues.

Cons

I have not had a issue using Paychex for as long as I've been employed.

We had a lot of hands-on guidance through the transition. The product met our needs at the time.

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

Running payroll with Paychex software was fairly straightforward. It was a breath of fresh air after using ADP software.

Cons

When we transitioned, there was not a lot of printed support material or tutorials. We really needed a live person to walk us through everything, and other live people available to answer our questions. This has probably changed by now.

Easy to navigate and use as an employee

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

As a user, not accounting or HR, I find this program easy to use in navigating through my pay stubs, viewing my vacation time ( both used and available) and clocking in and out. I also like the notifications my company can send me directly through the program.

Cons

My company used this, switched to ADP, then switched back so now i have two profiles and every time I log in i have to switch to the current one. I'd like to be able to remove one or, at the very least, log into the current one.

Not User or Admin Friendly

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

I've always been an ADP user and found it difficult to use Paychex Flex when I worked for a small company.

Cons

I found the website difficult to maneuver and understand. It was always difficult for me to speak with an agent who could assist me and solve my problem. Most of the reps I spoke with just read out of their manual.

Great software and easy to use. Very organized!

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

What I like most about this software, is the ease of use. The support team and the organization. I would highly recommend it.

Cons

The least thing I liked about this software is the price. I find that other Apps like ADP are a little cheaper.

Poorly designed system, overpriced, poor customer service

Reviewed 6 years ago

There are better options for our company. Find one.

Pros

It gets the job done. Also, customer service is relatively fast to respond (especially compared to ADP), but they often don't know how to help.

Cons

So much. Interface isn't great, customer service is full of well-intentioned staff who simply don't know or understand things, and they caused a lot of problems, especially with our 401(k), which they administered. I can't wait to switch.

A user friendly tool

We used it before moving to ADP (which is much better) to keep payrolls and employees details, but the interface looks too basic and somewhat old.

Pros

It's very easy to use and it offers all the most basic features to show paystubs, time off and hiring details.

Cons

It's incredibly basic and scarely customizable

Streamlined and Simplified Payroll Processing and Ancillary HR Services

Reviewed 2 years ago

Thus far, the experience has been positive and meets all needs of the company. Tax compliance, W-2s, time keeping, and benefits admin all went smoothly through a full annual cycle. The customer service response times are within a reasonable range, and the mobile app surprisingly is very useful due to the simplicity of the overall platform. Employees can also self-serve make a certain number of changes to things like addresses or banking info without the need for an HR team member to service such requests.

Pros

The ease of onboarding and implementation (compared to ADP, for example), as well as the streamlined processes that allow for staff who may not be payroll professionals to accurately run payroll & benefits to a high degree of efficiency.

Cons

The functionality for contractors isn't as great as some other providers I've used in the past (PayReel, for instance). Additionally, the level of sophistication for tax issue or researching problems from state notices, etc. isn't the best I've seen though it is certainly adequate.
