SimScale overview

What is SimScale?

SimScale is a cloud-native solution for fluid flow, structural, and thermal engineering simulation (CFD & FEA) that works end-to-end in a standard web browser. From CAD geometry upload and meshing to simulation setup and post-processing, the entire process for virtually testing a design happens online, with no installation or special hardware required.

Fluid flow (CFD) simulations allow for laminar and turbulent flow modeling, mass transport, and cavitation plus support for multi-phase, steady-state, and transient setups. Structural simulations (FEA) provide linear, nonlinear, static dynamic, modal, and frequency analysis for stress and deformations. Heat transfer analysis supports conduction, convection, and radiation to understand temperature and heat flux, plus thermal stress and conjugate heat transfer between fluids and structures.

Aside from its intuitive UI and modeling environment and rich graphical rendering, SimScale also provides collaboration tools enabling multiple designers and engineers to work on given projects regardless of their locations. SimScale also offers access to a wider public community where users can simulate and share within a user base of over 300,000 engineering professionals, leveraging existing public templates to create new simulation projects.

Pros
“The mesh generation is also impressive, as it can be much more forgiving on complex geometry that we use, and for any issues, the documentation is extensive available online, along with great customer support. ”

Inventor needs to share some of the same data that IMPS does - revision, title, BOM etc. These are managed through a semi-automated add-in to Inventor

the importing of cad data is one of teh must required feature, and it's good
