Awesome product. Better get ready for some training.

2019-04-16

Pros

it really can do everything. it is like trello and basecamp mixed together.

Cons

it is really hard to navigate intuitively. Once you learn the processes, you can navigate fine. But you cant just open the box and start playing with it.

Without Words and super grateful!

2018-12-11

The best Project Management tool in the Market with an exceptional team behind it.

Pros

JIRA is one of the most amazing softwares I have ever come across. Super powerful, with hundreds of integrations with other tools and a must for software-companies. The level of team work that you can accomplish with it is amazing.

Cons

Maybe the apps could be a bit better designed and also have some integrations like "What is the status of this" as Basecamp has, but for the rest, it is awesome.

I am using Basecamp, Asana and Wrike but Jira seems to be more easy and flexible option for us for the Technical team. `

Cons

Urgency and Due date management is missing.

From Basecamp to Jira

2018-12-14

It has definitely helped the project management process and it's really nice that it can accommodate the needs of the team according to our preferences.

Pros

We switched from Basecamp to Jira recently because the team is growing and the projects are getting bigger and more complicated.

Cons

At first it's very overwhelming but you quickly get used to it. I don't like that I can't keep my list of tasks organized by Due date or Status and stay like that. Every time I refresh the page I have to organize it again. I also would like to maybe see my issues of the day or the week only. It's a little daunting to have a list of over 60 issues at once when many of those are due in a couple of months or so.

Incredible Functionality -- Too Big for Small Teams

2018-04-04

Smaller teams are better off with something like Basecamp or Teamwork, where you're capturing the higher level details and working through the specifics on a more individualized basis.

Pros

The range of functionality within JIRA is truly astounding, and for large teams working with complex software builds, it's probably the best bet -- or even the only way to go. It's very easy to drill down deep into the details to capture every nuance that needs to be communicated between business teams and engineers/developers. Great for projects where there's a hardcore, dedicated PM.

Cons

JIRA's pretty massive for a smallish dev team, perhaps 5-10 people or less. The level of granularity that must be captured to make the platform usable is probably more overhead than a truly agile team would want to take on.

Best project management for hackers

2019-02-15

Project processes were so simple with JIRA, and when I moved to Basecamp after this is was a huge kick in the groin.

Pros

There is so much good with JIRA, but my number one favorite thing was the ability to organize tasks, employees, and stage/iterations so easily. Just by looking at a task you can see how far along it is, who is working on it, and when it should be completed. JIRA has made the process of concepting a project to completing and pushing it live simple.

Cons

There was a large learning curve with JIRA, as it was nothing like I have ever used before. There is a LOT of functionality, and you can even create a bespoke version for the needs of your company, but none of that is easy. It took me about 3 months working with it to understand it, and even then there was way more that you could do than I was even aware of.

We've been using JIRA for our company instead of Basecamp for a while now and I don't find it very user friendly.

JIRA is the top project management tool for AGILE software development

2018-12-26

I've used in the past also Trello, Basecamp and Teamwork as alternative solutions, but Jira has been the most efficient and completed one.

Pros

Jira is highly functional, efficient and dynamic for project management and working with agile system in software development and certain online businesses.

Cons

In order to use Jira at its fully potential, you'll need some training and - of course - fully understanding of the agile approach. Not everyone will feel perfectly confident first few times logging in Agile. However, once practiced and used for a while, it's the best tool for creating tasks, monitoring projects, coordinating teams and workflow for new and established businesses willing to grow.

One of the best for Agile

2018-12-01

New version is way better than it was before, catching up with all new gen software like Teamwork and Basecamp. I suggest to start with the trial to try it and define your setup because, with so many features, you want to explore everything beforehand and look for what works for you and your company.

Pros

Full of features and lots of ways to manage your team. One of the best software development management with Agile methodology.

Cons

In old versions, It was way too complicated to install and start using it. Now it's more flexible.

Granular project management software that works well with few cons.

2018-12-19

Having everything internal on our own servers (Vs. being forced to use external servers on something like Basecamp) also means we have less to worry about and overall, I'd recommend this to anyone that is unsure.

Pros

The best part is how things are laid out and organized. When I create a new board and add tasks, I can make certain tasks more important than others, I can determine what step of the process it is in (i.e. pending, in progress, ready for upload and finally ready for verification) and then when all items are done, there is a good history of them should we need to go back and review anything that was done.

Cons

the biggest annoyance of this software is that it doesn't have the ability to send 1 e-mail for multiple events that happen, so you end up getting sometimes 15 e-mails at once when they could have combined all the completed / updated tasks into 1 e-mail and just sent a summary each hour.

Amazing software with heaps complex abilities

2019-03-24

It has been way better than basecamp, the interface is clean and its easy to use other than the cons listed above.

Pros

I can easily see and edit tasks, I can comment on them and it gives full communications between me, my team and manager. I can also edit due dates myself.

Cons

When the due date goes past and I still haven't done the task, it disappears so I have to remember to change the due date. Usually I am waiting on something from the client. If I want to find an old task, it is usually difficult to scroll through and find it.
