Excellent for a small team setup

13/03/2017

Is there Trello integration?

Pros

Great to get started with simple success. No need to learn new platform, this platform is naturally easy.

Cons

Free plan no longer available. Could use better reporting. No more cons as this is great for small setups.

A good project management tool.

05/11/2016

It's pretty easy to use, but we've definitely use easier project management tools, like Trello, more often.

Pros

To save time/increase efficiency, you can clone similar projects from an existing project, which is nice. They have a mobile app as well, which is nice when you are on the go.

Cons

Support system could be better, and generally speaking, I think some other project management systems are easier to use.

Suggested Integrations and Going Back to Basecamp 2

09/01/2017

It would be fantastically helpful if BC would suggest integrations for its platform, like Facebook does on their advertising platform every once and a while. Our agency is always looking for more productive ways to accomplish task including using Slack, time tracking tools and others. What if BC lets users know about such integrations instead of having to dig through their site to try and find them? Basecamp 2, in my opinion, was much easier to use. Now, if I need to find my assignments it takes at least 3-4 clicks, whereas in BC 2 it took 2. I'm not sure why they switched back to an old format (so I heard) but I'm not sure it is more helpful.

Pros

Much better than Asana, Trello or the other guys out there.

Cons

Finding your assignments use to be much easier, but with the new update to BC 3, I feel like the company has made it harder to access your work.

Suggested integrations every once and a while. What all can BC do? Surely it's not only a task management software.

Great Project Management Tool

19/01/2015

The only reason I have note give the application five stars is that I have now switched to Trello and find their "card" system a little more intuitive for managing project tasks.

Short and Sweet

08/12/2016

I have to admit it is one of the simplest to use in its field (apart from Trello... who can be simpler..).

Pros

- Simple - Easy - Does everything a small team needs - Cheap

Cons

- Maybe lacking some more "project manager" centric features a tool like Wrike will offer

Indispensable!

I love Trello, but for communication with clients, Basecamp was the best, by far!

Pros

Super easy to use.

Cons

Could have used more integrations.

The organization is only as good as you, yourself, make it. So be careful to arrange things neatly.

Good product for team organization

09/11/2016

Basecamp is not difficult to adopt or to learn to use, and we found it a better alternative to Trello. I would highly recommend this for any marketing team, especially those who are fragmented by location.

Pros

Ease of use

Cons

Maybe not as sophisticated as other options

Too noisy, doesn't really create much value

19/12/2015

I'd recommend Trello instead - it's more organized.

Pros

It's nice that you can reply to tasks/chats from your email and not have to go back to Basecamp.

Cons

Basecamp needs better templates for organizational workflow.

Good idea, average execution

17/09/2015

We've tried Trello and Asana as well and personally I think Basecamp comes the closest to delivering the experience I'm looking for.

Pros

Simple design, anyone can figure out how to use it and organize it based on your organization's needs. Calendar included inside platform allows you to plan out what's happening for you and the rest of your team.

Cons

Doesn't work well with media. Our organization works with photos, videos and graphic design almost exclusively. It's not supported very well with Basecamp and makes it harder to stay on the same page and rely exclusively on this platform for project management.

Great for Cross-Team Collaboration Spread Out Over a Large Distance

13/01/2016

Pros

Basecamp is a great tool for working with multiple team vendors. When working with other agencies and clients, I have found it very useful in keeping people updated, sharing files, etc. There are also some great features I use for managing workflow (calendars, files, etc). It's a *very* intensive system that fosters collaboration, and having worked with teams spread out over multiple cities/time zones, it's been a godsend.

Cons

(For those situations, you may be better off using a tool like Trello)

Recommendations to others considering Basecamp

If you are seeking a way to track multiple projects across multiple people separated by geographic distance, Basecamp is a *very* effective tool. (It may be more beneficial for marketing agencies, national nonprofits, or similarly sized organizations). If you're looking for an internal tool, Basecamp would be good, but may be too big for your organization.

Basecamp for Digital Teams

03/02/2017

I stopped using Basecamp about a year and a half ago and have opted for using Trello and now Asana (upgrades on their UX had me switching back).

Great project management app

29/03/2016

I've used Asana and Basecamp in addition to Trello, and I've always come back to Trello.

Pros

More features than Basecamp.

Cons

Comments on a card are all in-line, it would be great if they could be threaded to keep comment history neat.

Tried so many other project management tools - Trello was the one

08/12/2016

Let me start off by saying that our team has tried everything from Asana, to Teamwork Projects, to Basecamp, to Flow, to countless other tools.

Pros

Very easy to use, great UX, visual layout. Customizable

Cons

Paid plans are quite expensive compared to other solutions.

For the person who's tried every task manager out there, Trello just works.

08/09/2015

It's magical - I don't know how else to describe it, nor do I know how else to explain why I use trello instead of Wunderlist, Asana, Basecamp, Todoist, Checkvist, Things, Reminders, or any of the other dozens of apps I've tried to manage my tasks; trello just does the job better.

Pros

- Live syncing - Free - Collaboration - Great apps for all devices - Kanban - Flexible - Some cool (chrome) extensions - Keyboard shortcuts

Cons

- Doesn't really work offline (kind of does, if you experience a temporary outtage)
