Better than similar project management apps.

2018-10-07

Pros

It helps to bypass the need to communicate with project members about the update by enabling the instant collaboration feature inside ach project. I don't think there is even a limit to how many projects can be run and monitored at the same time. All the projects we are working can be accessed very easily just by a toggle button. The comment feature also works great.

Cons

Just like Wrike, there is no instant messaging feature built in here as well.

Short and Sweet

2016-12-08

I have used basecamp on many occasions and for months at a time. I have to admit it is one of the simplest to use in its field (apart from Trello... who can be simpler..). It does what it needs to do without making everything so complicated like Jira or Teamwork. You need something to organize your team efficiently and simply? Get Basecamp. You won't regret it!

Pros

- Simple - Easy - Does everything a small team needs - Cheap

Cons

- Maybe lacking some more "project manager" centric features a tool like Wrike will offer

Good, but rudimentary

2018-10-29

Pros

We moved to Wrike instead

Cons

It was a bit clunky. Easy to use but not robust enough for being a PM tool

Much more team friendly and easy to use than other project management systems.

2017-11-22

Most of our team loves it and prefers it to other programs such as Wrike, which is too convoluted.

Pros

The ease of uploading and replacing documents and communicating with others is a cinch. The interface is much more pleasing to work with and makes the project process more fun.

Cons

Sometime there are extra clicks to get to certain places. For instance, docs and files should be easily accessible and viewable no matter where you are in a project.

For the Simplistic Nature of Project Management

2019-03-22

Pros

Basecamp is simple to implement and versatile in how you can create very linear (don't read agile) projects for teams who have a straight forward approach to the development and publishing of a project. Read, do, respond, complete. I know I am oversimplifying the outcome or setup of a project with regard to the capability of this system, but that comes from being forced to use this software at multiple stops in my career and always walking away only understanding it's simplistic nature. If simple is for you, Basecamp can be very powerful.

Cons

I get there are many options and add-on features to be explored, but for those needing an agile or scrum capable PMS, move on to Wrike or Asana or Zoho.

Basecamp is an essential, easy to use project management tool in my organizations workflow.

2017-10-26

Pros

After coming from Wrike, which is bloated with features, Basecamp was a breath of fresh air.

Cons

The search feature needs some work. It's annoying to not be able to find a project that you aren't tagged on. If the search doesn't bring it up - sometimes it will sometimes it won't - this leads to getting an admin to assign you a project just to view details.

Basecamp makes Project Management Fun

2019-01-17

It helps keep us organized and on task without being onerous to use.

Pros

I've used Trello, Asana, Wrike, and Jira and the only other one I'd willingly use is Trello.

Cons

When a project gets really bloated, then a BC project can be a bit hard to navigate, though this may be true for any project. I would like the ability to create recurring tasks, but I bet they're working on it.

Doesn't Keep Up with Newer Project Management Tools

2017-11-15

Pros

- Basecamp is a decent option if you're starting out with project management system. - Many of the features are pretty basic, so it doesn't take too much time to figure out how to use the platform. - It is relatively clean aesthetically

Cons

I found this platform to be very basic compared with more modern project management tools like Wrike, Asana, or even Teamwork PM.

Cloud storage for company

2019-02-21

Basecamp is a convenient strategic "projectile" that is used in a tank, uses a charging mechanism (Wrike), and with the help of Trello - exactly on target.

Pros

Perfect integration with Google Docs, convenient availability calendar events, the possibility of forming the design of the project, really huge capacitive tool for work, very easy and intuitive.

Cons

Message board is not comfortable, hight price for small business, lack of russification and Gantt

Works well 1/3 of the time

2013-08-28

My cheating eye is starting to look at Wrike, which has all the features at the same price.

Pros

Great for small projects with lots and lots of people. UI is really nice and not that bad, but seems slower these days than a few years ago.

Cons

No Gantt Chart. Newsfeed, Creating task, RoadMap integration is poor and not seemless.

A Stand-Out in the World of Project Management

2018-08-22

Pros

Simple and understandable interface, easy to integrate across organizational departments, much simpler to control notifications in comparison with competitors (i.e. Basecamp), awesome app for iPhone and Android

Cons

The app could function a little smother.

Used this tool in the past for product launch and project management

2018-05-20

Pros

I liked the sleek look and feel of Basecamp better.

Cons

It has many features and very good for project management. Not very useful for a product launch. It was a pain to setup users in the system and the nested tasks within tasks are complicating the look and feel of things. prices are very high compared to the market.

Wrike - Adequate for a Free Product

2018-05-04

Pros

It's Free You can upgrade, but the interface is not smooth for all users to follow projects easily For the free part of the software, it's a great solution, but frankly - Basecamp is superior

Cons

Sloppy interface Hard to follow threads for specific projects. Meaning if you are trying to follow a project, files etc... the interface is not so easy for the user

I found Wrike when am searching for a good and free project management software

2018-08-05

Yea, Wrike does it's job as a good and free alternative to Basecamp, and others.

Pros

Ease of use. Modern interface. Free package to start with

Cons

Lacked some much needed features. I will love to see more improvement on the features like Graph Charts, Sending E-invoices with payment integration, etc.

Wrike has stolen my heart

2019-03-07

Pros

I've used Asana, JIRA, Basecamp, etc., and always had the best team engagement & results with Wrike.

Cons

The variety of options in Wrike might be a bit too heavy-weight for new PMs unless they have a good sys admin or coach overseeing use and best practices. I think that Wrike really shines in teams over 5 people, if you're a 2-3 person operation you can probably get away with something lighter. Honestly, these are the best "Cons" I could think of.

This is our Backbone

2016-02-09

We used BaseCamp for a while, but didn't fit quite right.

Pros

Intuitive hierarchy, tons of support/help videos & content, lots of integrations.

Cons

So many features it takes a while to master them. Tablet app was problematic but has been updated and now works well.

Productivity Increased with Wrike

2014-09-23

I used to love Basecamp and when I moved to a new company, I wasn't looking forward to using Wrike at all (more stuff to learn in a crowded brain!)

Pros

Great search functionality - you can easily find what you need Features update and change regularly Love the Activity Stream where you can see what's going all in a "news feed" type style Ability to customize your dashboards and views

Cons

I can't use the Wrike email extension with Outlook for Mac You can't tag people in the description of the task, only in the comments Managers can't create hours for other people's tasks, they can only edit (add more or delete) hours for a task.
