User opinions about Adobe Photoshop price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 310 reviews that provide robust commentary on Adobe Photoshop's price and value, 48% mention it in a positive light.

Some users report that Adobe Photoshop offers a wide range of powerful features and regular updates, which they feel justifies its higher price compared to competitors. Reviewers appreciate bundled options, such as the package that includes both Photoshop and Lightroom, considering it a good deal for photographers. Some users say the integration with other Adobe tools adds value, and they find student and non-profit discounts helpful. Reviewers indicate that the initial free trial allows them to test the software before committing, and some feel the time saved and quality of output make the investment worthwhile for professionals or businesses.

However, some reviewers find the subscription model and ongoing monthly fees expensive, especially for freelancers, students, and users in countries with lower incomes. Users think the cost is prohibitive for those who only need basic editing features or use the software infrequently, and they mention that alternative programs offer similar functionality at a lower or one-time cost. Some reviewers feel frustrated by the lack of a perpetual license option and the necessity of paying for features they do not use. They say the high price can be a barrier for beginners, small businesses, and startups, and some express disappointment that essential tools and effects require additional payment.

“Although paying an annual subscription fee for this programme is more cost-effective now than it was before, when software was purchased individually, I was allowed to install it on up to two devices with the same licence, allowing me to use it when outside the office on both my desktop and laptop.”

Being able to toggle between vector and raster is important for my work, especially when it comes to image size. Also, illustrator does not crop/edited raster the same way, so it's helpful to have Photoshop easily accessible by unembedding an image on Illustrator.

In spite of being able to create vector images with photoshop, illustrator is the main software for it, so plenty of times you can have some content created on illustrator that you will combine with the final piece in photoshop.

Huge advantage in graphic design, Icon design and UI designing (templates, icons, etc) because both tools build a perfect fit in designing industry, basically all you need to become a designer.

It is a perfect companion, since in Illustrator we can make vector graphics and we can integrate images edited in Photoshop and vice versa, attach vector graphics in Photoshop.

You can transfer multiple files between the two and work cohesively amongst them. You can share files, work, and other things between the two that makes it easy and simple.

Using these two tools at the same time helps to be more and more productive, since you can do different things in both that, when integrated, create a spectacular result.

I use illustrator for illustration and photoshop for photo editing and retouching colour when the illustration is finished. I am not a fan of illustrating in Photoshop.

The ability to share between software is highly important. It increases the cohesiveness between software an creates an ecosystem that is unrivaled.

Illustrator and photoshop go hand in hand when doing any type of vector or print design. The integration is very straightforward and seamless.

I use illustrator to do vector art and design logos then import those into photoshop for incorporating into other work that is already done.

Adobe Illustrator perfectly complements Photoshop's already rich feature set. Providing vector graphic creation par excellence.

Adobe Illustrator has some image editing features, but I typically use Photoshop to edit content and export it to Illustrator.

Vectors and icons are done in illustrator and the fact that I easily drag down my vector items to photoshop is really handy.

I don’t use it super often as illustrator is not my favourite software but if used, it’s also for editing and import/export

Both products allow you to create amazing and accurate designs and images. The difference is in how they are created.

We use all of the Adobe CC products together to create designs that are better and more functional than ever before!

because they are from the same product family so it is easy to export files from one to the other program.

For the most part I create vector graphics in Illustrator then import it to images created in Photoshop.

In what I do, the raw graphics comes from illustrator after I make them then to photoshop to be edited

Integrating Illustrator helps with logo design, but it's not a significant concern to be focused on.

Adobe Lightroom is an excellent program for editing and managing your photos. It has a wide range of features and tools that allow you to make your photos look their best. The interface is user-friendly and the program is very intuitive to use. Overall, Adobe Lightroom is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a comprehensive photo editing and management program.

Not absolutely necessary, but lightroom offers more granular control of photograph elements in the 'pre-production' phase of editing than is easily accessible through photoshop. Lightroom also offers better file-management and revision history functions.

Even though Photoshop is advanced, however, Lightroom offers more advanced image editing features that I usually associate with Photoshop's designs to realize certain artworks. It's kind of crazy how well these two apps integrate with each other.

It is now an option to have basically one in the same program but when using other versions of each program it is still nice to be able to seamlessly transfer photos between the two

While not a MUST for me, a very welcome addition. I love being able to import the photo I'm editing in Lightroom for quick touch ups without having to stop everything I was doing.

I use Lightroom as my image management system and do basic editing with it. When there is need for more detailed editing, I turn to Photoshop to do that heavy-lifting.

Because all of Adobe softwares work together, they have specific function that, working together, are the perfect combinations to bring the best image editing results.

Lightroom provides a large suite of photo editing tools to help with color correction, lighting, etc. Any photo I will use in Photoshop goes through Lightroom first.

Being able to control central adjustments within Lightroom and transfer seamlessly into Photoshop for the more extensive edit has been a game-changer!

The ability to share between software is highly important. It increases the cohesiveness between software an creates an ecosystem that is unrivaled.

I always base edit my images in Lightroom and use Lightroom for proofing, so the ease of being able to move images interchangeably is crucial.

Integration is important because its very easy to work on the photos in both programs and transferring photos between them with ease.

After you done with photoshop edits, it is good to do final tune in Lightroom, where are better functions for colours and light edits.

Agile and market-leading photo organizer program. It helps me daily with powerful photo enhancement and cataloging features.

Seamless integration between the two. Manipulations can be made in photoshop and the final image finessed in Lightroom

After editing pictures in Photoshop I import them into Lightroom so that I can export them with the company logo.

Can do general photo editing in Lightroom and then more technical things in photoshop on the same file

I use Lightroom for the colour correction and photoshop for fine detail work touch ups.

I like that you can move images easily between platforms-Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Adobe lightroom gives a more flexible touch to photo editing, colors, and filtering.

As a video editor, I edit graphics in Photoshop, and import the PSD files directly into Premiere, which allows me to easily make edits to the image later and see them automatically update in Premiere.

If you want to design the wonderful titles for your credits or the lower thirds you are supposed to use the Adobe Photoshop where you can integrate the output of this Photoshop to the premier

Making videos is my primary task at my job. I can easily take graphics from Photoshop and import them into Premiere.

They complement each other perfectly for the development of professional projects and with great versatility.

For video presentation, I used to get the images done in Photoshop and import it in adobe premier pro

With Premier Pro, I use designs like thumbnails directly on my videos and clients'.

It is not necessary to use these products together unless in certain situations.

I experimented with animating a sample design from Photoshop with After Effects and it worked well. After Effects provides the possibility to directly open a Photoshop file (PSD) and make advanced animations on them.

If you are making any movie or an ad film where you need to add some VFX then after effects is a core utility behind that creativity this is a very powerful tool which adds a feather in the cap of the software

The ability to share between software is highly important. It increases the cohesiveness between software an creates an ecosystem that is unrivaled.

Most of my document layouts are done in either InDesign or QuarkXPress. I import Photoshop images into these layout applications constantly.

The file in and export system makes it easier to get your fully shopped photo imported into Indesign with no problems.

It's nice because when I'm working on layouts, it's so much easier when the software plays nice with each other

Like Adobe Illustrator, I typically use Photoshop to edit content and export it to InDesign.

I design in InDesign and use ‘edit with Photoshop’ for photo editing and import / export

Because we need it for pre-press and layouts. The combination is essential.
