Assisted Rides overview

What is Assisted Rides?

Assisted Rides is web software for running volunteer driver programs and the services that grow around them. Over 200 organizations across the United States and Canada, from aging-in-place villages and faith-in-action groups to senior centers, Area Agencies on Aging and government agencies, have relied on it since 2010 to help older adults get where they need to go.

Scheduling rides and services

Coordinators schedule one-way, round-trip and multi-stop trips, trips with several clients, and recurring requests from templates. The same calendar handles in-home visits, telephone reassurance calls, errands and minor home repairs, so the whole program is in one place. Color-coded monthly, weekly and daily views can be filtered by status, vehicle, volunteer or client.

Volunteers and clients

Volunteers browse open requests and claim the ones that fit their schedule, from a computer or a phone. Clients can submit their own requests, or staff can enter them for clients who call the office. Everyone is notified by their preferred method: email, text message or automated phone call, so people without smartphones are never left out.

More than rides

The same account runs events and classes (sessions, sign-up rosters, attendance, optional fees and rides to events), memberships and dues (plans, households and ride allowances), delivery and shuttle routes with optimized routing, and agency-owned vehicles (assignment, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuel logs and maintenance schedules).

Reports and dashboard

A manager dashboard shows reminders and items that need attention, such as driver compliance and requests that still need a volunteer. More than 70 customizable reports cover rides, services, volunteers and clients.

Privacy and security

Assisted Rides is HIPAA compliant by default. Optional HIPAA Privacy settings give “just-in-time” access to information, keeping client details such as phone numbers and addresses hidden until a user needs them. Data is backed up every 6 hours, and backups are kept for 14 days.

Canada

Canadian organizations are fully supported, including provinces and distances in kilometers.

Devices

Assisted Rides is cloud-based, with nothing to install, and works in any web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Native iOS and Android apps for clients and volunteers are in final testing and will be free to download.

Pricing, trial and support

Subscriptions are billed yearly and scale with how many rides and services you provide, not how many people log in. Plans start at $1,500 a year and include unlimited client, volunteer and staff accounts. Support and training are included at no extra cost, and we can import your existing data and build APIs for your organization as needed. Instead of a separate demo, the free trial is your actual production account: destinations and settings you create stay in place if you sign up, and trial data is deleted on request if you don’t.
