Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

LanceDB overview
What is LanceDB?
LanceDB is a multimodal lakehouse database platform designed for artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. It unifies vector search, full-text search, and SQL capabilities within a single data infrastructure. The platform serves data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI developers managing large-scale multimodal datasets across fields such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, media processing, and enterprise AI. Built on the open-source Lance columnar file format, it supports both embedded library deployment and cloud-based deployment for end-to-end management of complex AI data pipelines from raw ingestion through production model training and inference.
The lakehouse architecture supports the storage and retrieval of vector embeddings, images, video, audio, text, and structured data within a single storage layer. Advanced vector search capabilities include indexing algorithms such as inverted file product quantization and navigable small world graphs combined with a compression-focused quantization approach that maintains recall accuracy. Native full-text search and hybrid retrieval combine semantic and keyword queries while SQL compatibility through a native DuckDB integration enables analytical operations. Feature engineering functions allow computed features such as embeddings, captions, and metadata transformations to be materialized directly within tables using Python user-defined functions, with automatic incremental updates that avoid full table rewrites. Distributed indexing and query execution scale to large vector collections, and GPU-accelerated index training is available for CUDA and Apple Silicon environments. Data versioning follows a model analogous to version control with branching, tagging, and shallow cloning that enables reproducible experimentation and dataset lineage tracking.
The underlying file format delivers columnar storage optimized for sequential scanning and random access patterns, with adaptive blob storage semantics that select between inline, packed, dedicated, or external storage based on data characteristics. Compression is applied through general-purpose and specialized encodings to reduce storage requirements while preserving performance. Connectors and application programming interfaces are available for Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, and Java. Compatibility with data processing and orchestration tools includes integration with Apache Spark, Ray, and machine learning frameworks for pipeline orchestration. Vector embedding providers and reranking services can be integrated to refine retrieval quality, and retrieval-augmented generation frameworks can leverage native support for orchestration tools. Catalog compatibility extends to major catalog services, and storage backends include local filesystems and leading object storage services with optimized metadata operations to minimize latency in cloud environments.
