Pros

Fantastic customer service - very responsive to any need. We had a couple of issues which have been solved pretty smoothly thanks to them.
When working Mixpanel is fantastic. It can help companies see their acquisition, activation, retention, revenue and referral.
It's great for preliminary analysis. The UI is super neat and any person can get started with little-to-no setup.

Pros

I believe it is a great asset for any business. Once setup it is extremely easy to use and gives valuable insights to improve and thrive your business.
I love that this is free and easy to use. It's important to set up goals and conversations and then track them over time.
Overall, positive experience using Google Analytics. Has some good points and is free for deployment, and the reports and visualisation give a nice snapshot on the audience base.

Cons

I found the interface hard to use at first. Also it was really annoying the lack of options to easily create "Read only" dashboards.
Quite heavy to understand, not always very simple. Too much fonctionnality and no real segmentation.
Rigid notification center and no mail reports.

Cons

I was having problems configuring my Google Analytics, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Some reps seem to be less knowledgeable than you are. Some seem to completely misunderstand your questions and then fail to reinterpret.
In addition my biggest frustration is the correspondence (or lack there of ) between GA and Search console.

Pros

I know a company that uses Mixpanel to track everything a customer does on their platform, including where they left off and also encountered an error. Mixpanel also shows you a customer's location. You can also send targetted customer messages with Mixpanel

Cons

You will need a software developer to implement Mixpanel on your app or website. It's not something you can set up easily.

Cons

Pros

A lot of features/options/possibilities to track users and setup campaigns. Documentation is pretty good and support is very quick to response and resolve any issues.

Cons

May be too advanced and complex for simple tasks. If you don't need to track individual behaviour of users and make complex funnels - stick with basic Google Analytics.

Mixpanel is the cleanest, most accurate analytics tool our team has used. We've tried Google Analytics, and other free services that have consistently shown us messed up data. Mixpanel is super easy to set up, it gives you the data you need in a digestable format and allows you to make quick decisions.

Cons

To be honest, I used to be quite upset with the pricing of this software but they have recently lowered the monthly costs and it is on-par with what I would expect to pay. Good job Mixpanel.

Great analytics but the pricing is no longer worth it.

Pros

Compared to others like Flurry and Amplitude there are much more features in Mixpanel. Lets you explore user profiles and see each users revenue and target push notifications to users with campaigns. Also lets you set properties on users so that you can enable features specific users and do A/B testing.

Cons

The pricing is way to high for anyone other then a large company they used to have a good free plan but the current free plan with its limits is useless for production apps.

Pros

It is intuitive enough and has a good visualization of data, but would have loved a lot more customization capabilities. The graphs you can generate are pretty simple.

Cons

I wouldn't really recommend Mixpanel for new users, especially when Google Analytics 4 will have much better integration capabilities and the same or better features (for free). The pricing of Mixpanel is a little much and it could really clog up your tag managers

Great Sales Team - Tool Didn't Deliver

Pros

If you just want simple in-app analytics, this might be the tool for you. It's really affordable compared to other analytics tools out there.

Cons

This just didn't deliver what we wanted. We got on a call with their sales team, and they REALLY overpromised what could be done with Mixpanel. We'd ask, "Can we track this...?" , and immediately their response, was "YES!" In the end, we did all the setup and the development team did a lot of customization. But the customization for dashboards just isn't there. We also didn't get all of the onboarding support that was promised. In the end, we just let the rest of the year subscription pass, and we started using an open source tool called Metabase instead.

Mixpanel lets me track how often users are performing a specific pattern of interactions with my websites/web apps. It makes it easy to visualize the frequency and incidence of these events, and use the data in conjunction with other platforms like Google Analytics.

Cons

There's a bit of a learning curve, especially if you haven't used a similar platform in the past. I have also found that certain ad-blockers might cause events not to register.

Overall this product was easy to integrate and use, but ultimately did not provide the level of detail needed to run a successful data-driven business.

Pros

This product provides easy-to-integrate code and some very basic metrics for your digital products. It is easy to use for beginners in data & analytics.

Cons

There are many better visualizations and analytics metrics that could exist, but do not for the sake of simplicity. If you want to be more advanced in your ability to measure your data, look at other analytics platforms.

Pros

Amazing funnels, multichannel attribution, ease of use and customization... Mixpanel offers the next step from traditional analytics services like GA4.

Cons

There are some analytics features only accessible in Enterprise, but it is a minor inconvenience.

Cons

Limitations on creating custom reports. I wanted to export all data from MixPanel to an Excel sheet. But since there are limitations on creating custom reports, the Excel sheet cannot fit all data into one sheet.

I loved it. It's really easy to use and the Segment integration makes it an amazing analytics solution.

Pros

The ability to get insights from data in minutes. No need to be an expert, it's really easy to use for any product person. Chart creation is really straight forward. Moreover, if you use Segment, Mixpanel will work great with it.

Cons

I think the product is great overall, if I had to pick one thing I least liked, it's got to be the pricing.

Pros

If you need to measure something in your website, sure it will be possible with Mixpanel. We implemented in a customer where we needed to track user behaviour to show KPIs to their investor and, although at first it was a bit difficult to understand and handle, once you get used to the tool and the documentation, you will be quite surprise about the huge possibilities. Metrics like retention, acquisition, conversion or lifetime value are not a problem anymore with Mixpanel.

Cons

As commented in the Pros box, it is a bit complex to use. If you only need to track simple KPIs like visits, journey, conversions and so on... maybe it is better you start with another tool like Google Analytics. Mixpanel is a bit expensive and it is only worth it ir you need very advanced dashboards.

My Favorite Tool for Product Analytics

Mixpanel is great product analytics tool, until you have some issues around their data collection and processing changes.

Pros

Mixpanel is a great product for creating cohorts, funnels, and deep-dive analysis without dealing with a database.

Cons

It's pretty expensive, a bit hard-to use for non-technical people, and finally, the changes they are making in the data collection and generation model can lead to corruptions in your data. It was also pretty frustrating when they turned off messaging features (Email, SMS) in a couple of months.

I used to always use google analytics but have become a huge fan of Mixpanel. It's super easy to set up and to integrate into your workflow. It's easy to set up segmentations and flows so you can see how people move through your site or product. This has been hugely helpful in our ability to optimize conversion.

Cons

I'm curious how they can improve the collaboration abilities with teammates and allow for more streamlined experiments.

1. Understanding the Drop-off & Conversion across different funnels in the product. 2. Measuring the product usage analytics across different plans to know the customers better. 3. To seek feature adoption by the users via usage analytics. 4. Creating a cross-functional dashboard to consolidate and present the crucial metrics, keeping stakeholders informed hassle-free.

Pros

Seemless event and funnel segmentation analysis with a lot of crunching functionalities. Readily downloadable in CSV o PNG format. Integrating tracking code is hassle-free as well, given the exhaustive documentation & video tutorials available. Overall a pleasant experience!

Cons

No auto-save feature in the Dashboard. You need to click on save every single time you add a report to a dashboard. Pop-up is damn annoying. It also has some sync issues where some of the events don't show up and need a hard refresh before it starts showing up again. No option to create a team/squad to collaborate on a specific dashboard. Doesn't have an extensive integrations bucket.

Pros

Along with mixpanel google analytics are a great way to see the background data that are driving a few of the campaigns you set up.

Cons

I least like that there is not some depth in the type of analytics that programs like mix panel would be able to provide. This would be improved.

Let's us make informed decisions!

We use GA to track B2B and B2C customer behaviour in our travel agency. This is coupled with Hotjar, Mixpanel and Qualitative Testings.

Pros

Easy to get started Easy to track customer behaviour Ability to setup and monitor funnels and flows to detect leakage. Align funnels with business value to track Setup up customer goals Insights engine is super nice!

Cons

Beyond the basic, the leanring curve is super steep! Advanced configurations and understanding the impact on your business is difficult You can easily drown in features Super difficult to understand when you move beyond GA, e.g to Google Tag Manager and Google Data Studio. This requires extra learning/courses.

Incredibly easy to set up, but a little complex to use/create reports

We're using Google Analytics to track all analytics-related components of our apps and websites. We're probably going to keep using it in the near future.

Pros

Integrating Google Analytics with apps/websites is incredibly easy: it often takes just one or two lines of code, and it's always been seamless for me.

Cons

Creating reports/dashboards is still in beta (Google Data Studio connection) and could use some improvement. It's not as easy to visualize complex data streams as it is with other products (i.e. Mixpanel)

A must on every site

I love it, it's my go to for monitoring traffic on my site.

Pros

I love that it's easy to implement and use, you get so much out of the box without any complex implementation.

Cons

2 things. Sometimes it takes a long time to load charts, and the other thing is that I wish there was a "funnel" view for sequential events, something similar to what Amplitude and Mixpanel have.

Best and Cheapest to go for

Pros

There is a free version of GA, which can be used personal websites. For bigger companies, there is enterprise integration. The ability to integrate with Data Studio and Big Query is really helpful.

Cons

It is session based and not event based, which is a con. Mixpanel is better for events. For event base there is firebase, which is not sure how sits in Google ecosystem.

Does ALL your baseline analytics; not good in individual user behavior (across devices)

Pros

The (customized) goal tracking and visitor paths. Amazing that this tool is free for how much analytics it delivers!

Cons

Finding the right reports can get pretty complex and with, what feels like constant, UI changes hard to figure out whether I should be finding what I'm looking for in 'Audience' or 'Acquisition' or 'Behavior'. Also (and this feels "fair enough" for a free tool) not being able to track individual users (across devices) gives the need for other tools (e.g. Mixpanel), that then become fairly pricey.
