Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

IDU overview
What is IDU?
IDU is an enterprise financial planning and analysis platform founded in 1997 and headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa. The platform is used by over 500 organisations across four continents, with customers in financial services, mining, education, not-for-profit, agriculture, and professional services.
IDU is designed to serve both finance teams and operational managers within a single governed environment. Finance teams get auditable, multi-entity and multi-currency data connected directly to their ERP and GL systems. Operational managers get direct access to their budgets, forecasts, and actuals without waiting on finance to produce and distribute reports. Budget owners engage with their numbers directly, while finance retains full control over the data, hierarchies, and audit trail.
Solutions cover the full FP&A cycle: budgeting and planning, forecasting, capex planning, cash flow planning, workforce planning, project planning, scenario modelling, and S&OP planning and reporting. The consolidations solution supports multi-entity and multi-currency structures with automated intercompany eliminations and full audit trails. The fixed asset management solution is web-based and mobile-friendly, with real-time location tracking. Analytics and dashboard solutions allow users to drill from group-level summaries down to general ledger transactions, with board-ready reports available alongside operational dashboards.
IDU includes AI capabilities across three areas. Predictive Planning Assumptions use time-series techniques trained on an organisation's own historical data to generate suggested assumptions for budgets and forecasts. Every suggested value is adjustable and every decision is recorded in an audit trail. The Help Agent is an in-platform assistant that supports users as they work, answering questions in natural language grounded in IDU documentation. The Insight Agent analyses financial data to highlight variances, trends, and anomalies across budgets, forecasts, and actuals, and translates results into plain language explanations. AI-assisted features are opt-in and can be configured at the organisation, team, or user level.
The platform connects to ERP and GL source systems via native API or SSIS package, reading the existing chart of accounts, organisational structure, and actuals directly. Deployment options include on-premise, a customer-owned cloud tenancy on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, or fully managed by IDU on Microsoft Azure. Most organisations are live within three to six weeks of kickoff.
IDU is licensed per user across three editions: Light for smaller teams or aggregation-focused deployments, Standard for mid-market organisations requiring itemised accounts, allocations, and headcount budgeting, and Enterprise for the full platform including capex, project, activity-based and employee budgeting, reallocations, variance analysis, and FTE reconciliation. Licensing models include a once-off capital purchase, annual or monthly subscription, an all-inclusive Software-with-a-Service model, and a month-to-month SaaS option that allows organisations to scale users through peak budget cycles.
IDU was founded by chartered accountants and has been in continuous development since 1997. It is founder-led and has been deployed across organisations in 33 countries.
