Pros

I love living in one database. It is wonderful that it links with Outlook and can track all data related to a Matter or Contract, including related contacts.
Overall, the best time and billing software out there. I have demo'd several and Clio was the clear winner.
Great support and excellent cloud-based option at a very reasonable price. Glad to see regular improvements and updates, taking user feedback into account.

Pros

Technical support is fabulous, both through packaged online help and, on the very few occasions when it has been necessary, direct contact with a technical support representative.
Overall, my experience with Rocket Matter has been very successful in navigating through the website and it is pretty self explanatory which helps when training new employees comes up.
I also love the layout, being able to customize, the drop-down feature helps keep me organized and the page clean.

Cons

I hate when I am asked for instructions on setting up their client portal because I have no instructions to give them.
This is especially clear in light of its competition, Abacus or AbacusNext or AbacusLaw or whatever other evil derivative product they put out there which is all horrible in my experience.
My client started having trouble uploading her documents to me. Assignments went missing, and so deadlines were missed.

Cons

It freezes all the time. This is disruptive to my workday.
It defaults to the current date which is slightly annoying when you are entering time for a prior date.
Constant problems with slow service. Accounting feature does not integrate well with QUICKBOOKS.

Good, but for my particular practice, timekeeping is the most important way for me to earn money and I'm not really finding the Timekeeper option helpful.

Pros

Easy to understand client account info.

Cons

I wish there was a popup window with the timekeeper, where I could more easily keep track of my hours. Several at a time would be an even bigger bonus. Rocket Matter has something that is quite easy to use. It allows the user to stop and start time for different clients, all at the same time.

Only one client can be added per matter. I would love the ability to add multiple clients to each matter. Also, the document management could be better

Our office uses Clio for our time keeping/billing. We can upload documents to each client's individual matter and also add any notes to their matter. We can also link all inter office memos and all emails to each individual matter.

Pros

Clio is very user friendly and offer a very helpful support team for any questions or problems that arise.

Clio allows me to manage payments, keep track of time, bill clients, and manage trust accounting extremely easy. It allows me to keep track of all documents regarding a client, and keep notes on what is going on.

Pros

It's easy to use and keeps all my client information and documents organized and easily accessible. It makes keeping track of payments and trust accounting a breeze and I wouldn't be able to run my practice without it.

Cons

I'd like a more readable notes section on a matter page.

I'm very happy with it. It makes it easy for me to stay organized.

Pros

I especially like the case management system. I can upload, save documents and share them with clients, created tasks with reminders and communicate with clients in a confidential manner.

Cons

It would be great if it were more easy to create a matter from a contact. It would be so nice if we just had a button on the contact to create a new matter. That way documents and notes I have on a contact would automatically be saved in the matter.

Overall, I am very, very pleased with Clio. It is been helpful in my practice in a multitude of ways. It has excellent practice management; I like the way you can access so much information about one client under their matter: calendar; all financials; etc. Also helpful to obtain reports on the firm, staff numbers, client billing, etc.

Pros

I like that the specific calendar for each matter comes up in that case/matter. Ease of use. Tutorials available. Ease of time entry. Ability to send tasks to colleagues.

Cons

When entering documents under CLIO, there is no way to put docs in order by entry date (have to go in through DropBox.

I really enjoy how easy the software is to read and find everything. I really appreciate the time tracking as well. Clio has helped me learn a lot about softwares and even how it compares to other. It is up there on the list for sure. When someone tells me about another software, I tell them about Clio because I really like the software.

Cons

One thing I would change about Clio is add a dashboard or feed for each matter. This would be so everything that has happened for a matter can be seen quickly in one place. I would also say the customer service could use some improvement at times.

Pros

The ease of entering time and creating invoices. Customer support is friendly and knowledgeable and do their best to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Cons

Occasionally it runs slow or freezes up which holds things up a bit, but it does not last long.

Ease of use and keeping track of all client matter, trust billing, etc. manages my Calander perfectly

Cons

Limited integration with Quickbooks and no email directly from matter that works as smoothly as my current email client.

Still new, but its easy to navigate through. I trained myself. I was using CLIO prior to this firm.

Pros

seems easy to keep client billing and recording payments.

Cons

searching for certain documents that have been uploaded into client files. User has to remember what client /matter a certain doc was uploaded. To fix this issue, how about being able to do a dashboard search for the document?

Rocket Matter is everything you need. And it is Great!

Rocket Matters (RM) is everything you need for your law office and most other practices. My company has been using it since around January 2013 and we are very happy with it. Before I have used ProLaw, Clio, and Abacuslaw but RM blows the others out of the water.

Pros

You can upload documents to every matter/case you have. You can put in transactions. This is specially useful so that any user can see what has been happening in the case. It is also very easy to read unlike ProLaw/Abacuslaw. The system feels clean and clutter free. The system is very easy to use. Adding documents/notes/transactions/billing is very useful. We love that we are able to add tags to matters. Very often you have case numbers, family members that are a part of the case but the name of the case is in someone else's name. Without these it is very difficult to match some correspondences to their cases. There is a build in time you can use to assist you with billing for what you are doing. RM is very easy to teach to new staff. Most things are self explanatory.

Cons

Very few. Sometimes when they redesign the system it can take some getting used to. But this is true of every program out there. And even then they give you over 30 days were you can try the new design and still go back to the old one if you have trouble with it. Sometimes the system can be slow. However this can be a combination of the computer and internet speed. Sometimes you can't duplicate case names. Which makes sense in a way since you don't want to confuse it with another case and make an error, but too often client's have the same name.

Why I stay with RM

I keep getting calls from reps for Clio or other similar products and all I say is I'm happy with RM. If I have a problem, you help fix it. If I need to do something that I don't do often and can't remember the steps, you walk me through the process. Like my Apple products, it just works.

Pros

It mostly works like I work. Some of the various integrations and case management tools have a pretty steep learning curve, but they are not overwhelming.

Cons

There is not a way to track time in a file that is billed as a flat fee. Time tracking is needed so that profitability can be determined.

Easy to Use, But Pricey for What you Get and Terrible Policy on Accessing Data After Cancellation

I used Rocket Matter for several months, but I decided to switch to another law firm management software because Rocket Matter does not have much functionality. For $65, all you really get is billing and invoicing software (they claim to also offer document management but it's just a Dropbox feature, and you have to manually create templates if you want them). Their other competitors, CLIO and Firm...
