Pros

Square is an awesome piece of software to use. The retail side has great capabilities for sales, inventory, gift cards, rewards, and much much more.
Square is very simple to learn and use as an end user, and it has gain a lot of popularity recently, customers feel more and more comfortable with this system.
Easy and inexpensive way to take credit card payments for my small business. This provider is awesome, and helps my small business to easily accept cards.

Pros

I like using TouchBistro because is easy to use and has a lot of helpful tools. The customer service is great and every time I have a technical issue is resolved quickly.
The POS itself is super super easy to figure out , it was getting all the equipment and setting up the wireless that I struggled with. Get help where you need it most.
The most useful tool for me is reporting. The ease of adding removing and repricing is also a favourite.

Cons

If I am to complain about something I would complain about the percentage I am giving back to square but that it the cost of doing business.
The only thing that has ever been slightly frustrating is the traditional card reader being sensitive when swiping cards. Sometimes I'll have to try 3-4 times to get it to register.
I dislike that it fails sometimes and it is not accessible at many different vendors and restaurants.

Cons

The biggest problem is that they oversold and under delivered. They told me that all my current printers would work with their requirements.
We never used hey second of their service and still they stole our money. High pressure criminals who will do ANYTHING to get your money.
I purchased an extra piece of equipment and returned it for my money back but it got lost on their end and I ended up being out several hundred dollars and no follow up after many attempts.

Square has been terrific. This and TouchBistro are very comparable. and I'm not sure which has the edge. They are both great.

Cons

There aren't any blatant negatives here. Sometimes the system goes a little slow but this also could be our Wifi's fault.

Great app, TB needs to get up to speed with competition.

Pros

Ease of use is good. Tracks cost of goods and payroll time and cost. We liked the floor layout for our restaurant.

Cons

The merchants you are required to use are double that of Square. Supports acts like your call is inconvenient and pushes you off the phone. Square cost nothing and they helped us every step of the way. TB.

If you're looking to onboard, they will make you feel valuable. After that - forget about any level decent of customer service.

Pros

Simple interface. Price Point of monthly subscription.

Cons

Once you buy in, you are VERY low priority for them. it takes weeks to hear back by email and hours to connect on the support line. This is all before even attempting to trouble shoot your issues. Dev Team launches updates that arnt tested and working thoroughly. Wish i chose a different system off the bat.

Refuses to Refund

I wouldn't recommend this group, since their overall customer service has been nothing short of the worst I've seen in the industry. I've worked with Square, Toast and this group.

Pros

We had a great, helpful sales contact. Unfortunately, once we were turned over to their overall automated system for deployment of the software, we couldn't continue to work with them. At one point, they canceled our account without authorization.

Cons

We signed an agreement that would allow us a refund of more than $2,000 if we didn't want to continue using Touch Bistro. I've been trying to contact them for months for a refund, and have been ignored by their sales contact and their customer service line. We are having to hire a lawyer just to get our refund (even though the contract specifies we could get refunded.)

Scam!

Definitely a scam I would not suggest this to anyone it’s a waste of money any other company like square or light speed pos is way cheaper and have had much more success save your money use a different company.

Pros

There is no pros to this company they trap you into a one year contract for software that doesn’t work. The program is laggy shuts itself down it’s not a good platform.

Cons

The programming isn’t complete isn’t compatible they have no tech team to help you on site it’s all over the phone. You pay 80+ dollars a month for an app that should be free.

Easy to use from a back office and front of house perspective

good pricing for a product that meets a small businesses needs

Pros

Price point is great for a small independent business. Ease of use: very easy to train new staff on the software.

Cons

Limitations for custom reporting as well as the frequency of updates - trying when all your programs are constantly changing, albeit for the better many times, tough to keep up with when all (not just touch bistro) your tech is constantly evolving faster than one can keep up.

Worst system i have used

They will lie to get the sale, lie about incentives have poor support, thinks a video is training, takes hours to get a hold of someone. It is my lifes mission to ensure no new business owners get screwed the same way we did.

Pros

absolutely nothing - When they are trying to sell the product they promise all the features you need they have, and that they work. Once you actually start using the product all the features i wanted were "future" features. They will lie to get the sale and then screw you in the end once you have everything signed! Forced to use CHASE machines, we advised them 1 of our locations still has 2 years left with their debit machines. said ya no problem. then 3 months later seeks [SENSITIVE CONTENT] to get back all the incentives (we have 3 locations, and used our own hardware - the router).. What they say and what they do are the opposite. RUN AWAY FROM THEM

not user friendly to set up, convoluted and support doesn't know how to use the system. BY FAR the WORST product i have used. I regret getting this product, and i hope everyone who reads this does not get this product. i have another 1.5 years left and i cant wait to leave.

I am not very tech savvy, this program made me feel like I know what I am doing.

Pros

It is very user friendly and everything is thought of from a restaurant stand point. It is very thorough and visually easy.

Cons

It is a little slower than I would like because of so many thorough steps. The touch screen itself could be a little more sensitive. The wifi changes networks randomly in the middle of service.

Easy to Use, Great Reporting

TouchBistro has been a great change for our store. We were originally using Quickbooks which was slow, difficult to use, and had too many options that weren't useful to us. It also had to be on a computer and took up lots of space. TouchBistro is THE easiest point of sale system that that I have ever used. Training new staff is so simple ' it usually only takes 15 minutes for employees to get the hang of it, and feel comfortable using it. Training is significantly cut down. The reporting is great, and it's nice you can export as a CSV file. The only issue is that there is not a good inventory management capability. Hopefully that will change soon.

Wonderful. Very easy to use especially since they have integrated square credit card processing! I deel like I need a fedreshed course every few months though! The updates are great seems to work out kinks but all of the sudden in the middle of a shift it kicks me out at times when I least expect it.

Worst Customer Service

Worst customer service. Sales reps are willing to do anything to force the customer and sell the product in minimum time. A sheer lack of understanding from customer's point of view. The organization also doesn't give any importance if you try to reach out to them directly. It's as good as hitting the same wall every time without any solution.

Simple and organized

Pros

TouchBistro has been great for our new business in the sense that it was quick to catch on to how to use it. We also do our own accounting, so using TouchBistro as our cash register has provided an organized and straight-forward tally-ing point of our daily income.

Cons

In our experience so far getting technological support has been the most frustrating for us. Not being able to speak to someone right away, having to leave a message and wait for a call back, can be really frustrating as a customer, especially when you're in the middle of service and your POS suddenly isn'y working. This is definitely an area that TB could improve upon.

Should be much better at this price point

We were excited to try TouchBistro because of its promise of a enterprise backed semi-cloud setup. Sadly, our trial (which you must pay for if you want to actually try the multi-user setup) failed at the payment processing stage (which support was not able to solve). I found the system had neither the benefits of the cloud nor the advantages of an enterprise system. iOS base is nice but too many limitations at the monthly price point.

It helps in my business a lot to not only to make bills, maintain quote, stock etc but also be able to watch everything online over my phone. Helps me track my business almost anywhere and reduces hassle of doing things manually. I can almost analyse everything in various ways and extract any data at any point

So far so good! Touchbistro is very easy to use b/c it is iPad based and most of our staff is familiar with using iPads. It makes training a breeze! My only concern at this point is that when I create new items on one iPad I don't always see them appear on our other iPads. I will contact customer service about this on Monday

Nightmare Company

Over the course of a few weeks the Touch bistro representatives pressured my very sweet and kind partner into their product and never spoke with me (the decision-maker) About anything! They had our bank take me off as an owner along with merchant services all to make a sale. When I found out they refused to even talk with me about it and have never refunded my money. We never used hey second of their service and still they stole our money. High pressure criminals who will do ANYTHING to get your money. That includes breaking the law. Do not trust them, do not deal with them unless you want to be lied to, deceived and robbed.

There is absolutely nothing I liked about Touch bistro or those associated with it!

Stay away!!!

Awful. It has so much promise, but the system is not stable and has continually failed us and caused our service to be slow (we can’t place food orders, customers can’t pay, etc). We’ve called several times to ask for supervisor level help and have continually been told someone will call us back. It never happens. Touch Bistro is not reliable, the system is flawed, and the customer service is non existent. Do not purchase this system.

Pros

We were attracted to Touch Bistro because it used iPads and allows our servers to take orders at the table.

Cons

The system fails and becomes disconnected daily. There is some kind of bug or glitch that crashes the system at some point almost every day. We have to call customer support daily. We’ve had Touch Bistro for about a month, and we prepaid for a year, but we are replacing it with a different system already.

It has a lot more functionality than something like Square, but it still utilizes the familiar iOS user interface and makes training staff/customers easy. Customer support has long wait times - usually 40 minutes or more. You may have to talk to 3 or more people to get the right answer. It is very frustrating when you have high volume and issues and no one to assist you. Expect chargebacks and no assistance. You have to log into several different systems to research the chargebacks. They do not send timely notifications and you only have 5 days...

Pros

I purchased, set-up and use the system the most. It was easy to purchase and onboarding was pretty simple.

Cons

They sold me the idea of a great product. We purchased it during COVID and were promised many bells and whistles. First issue - you have some features in the cloud and some features on the Ipad that don't sync. Features - so many features were missing when we signed up with Online Ordering - partial refund, Apple Pay, Google pay, order correction prior to order complete. The list goes on and on. They are definitely light years behing Toast, Square, and even Clover. We have Clover too and I was leaving them to go to Touchbistro. I am glad that we did not leave t

Misrepresented their product

Angry. Their online ordering platform (the reason I purchased the product) is a flimsy take-out/delivery app. No presales. They told me it could manage ticket sales. Their onboarding was way too difficult. It took 83 days to get too the point of having our online merchant account set up. After 90 days the system is non refundable. They are now holding me to a two year contract for a system that does nothing great.

Pros

The promise that it would stream line the components of my business.

Customer support will pass you from one person to another

Very easy to use POS but needs refinement

you need to be able to authorize users to delete items without granting them void permissions. Also sometimes the POS accepts a tipout amount and passes it to the credit card processor but then forgets that it already processed the tip amount. At that point it refuses to accept any tipout amount and forces us to do an override on the preauthorization, which in turn means manual calculation of total tipout for the server and understates their tip income on wage reporting....

1) some tipouts get passed through to the credit card processor but fail to capture in the POS, then the POS won't take a tip amount and assumes it's neither entered nor will it let you re enter the tip because the final authorization is complete. 2) in security settings for staff, to enable a staff member to correct their own mistakes before sending an order to the kitchen, because of the way you've set things up, I also have to authorize staff to VOID items that have already been sent, which I refuse to do. so I end up having to approve every little change, whether or not they've been sent to the kitchen... bad design!

Having everything inside of 1 program Ease of Use for staff to quickly learn Ease of edits

Pros

Ease of use and includes most features needed to run a large 175 seat restaurant and bar. The features I would like to see developed have been given to the TB Team for consideration.

Cons

Not being able to access the program remotely. The reports are available on the Cloud but to remotely access and make changes to the program would be awesome. I understand they are working on this.

Follow up on commitments would be nice

Aggressive at getting you to sign. Once you’ve signed they can’t be found to follow up on commitment made.

Pros

Have no idea since they have yet to produce what was committed.

Cons

Touch Bistro is very user friendly and easy to program.

Ease of use. Valuable synthesis of information from sales and labor hours.

Pros

Ease of use (changing menu items, viewing labor hours, etc is very easily done). It's easy for employees to use the basic functions of this program.

Cons

It freezes up frequently and requires that the app is closed and re-opened before it will work again. There's also an annoying delay after orders are sent through, while they're printing in the kitchen, during which time nothing can be done. This only last a few seconds, but a few seconds is too much for a busy restaurant to have a delay every time an order is sent.
