How we picked the 3 top rated products

We chose the high-performing solutions on this list based on verified user ratings on our site. Depending on available data, qualifying products either had to be among the most user-reviewed or the most searched-for products in the architecture software category. They also needed to have sufficient reviews about 3d imaging, have a minimum user rating of 3 out of 5 for that feature, and show evidence of U.S. market presence. We then added a distinction for the product with the highest rating for 3d imaging based on our proprietary ratings and reviews. Sponsorship or client status has no influence on the selection of these products, but it may impact the order in which products appear.

User insights about the 3d imaging feature

Reviewers appreciate Revit's 3D imaging for its ability to provide detailed and clear views of complex projects. They find it useful for visualizing the evolution of a model and detecting clashes between structural elements. Users report that while Revit's native rendering capabilities are not the best, using plugins like Enscape can significantly enhance the quality. They value the ease of switching between 2D and 3D views, which helps in tracking project development and making timely adjustments.
“3D imaging is crucial for viewing the project as the model develops and seeing changes in real time. Revit has the capability but again doesn't do it quite as successfully as other software.”

User insights about the 3d imaging feature

Reviewers indicate that 2020 Design Live's 3D imaging is essential for client presentations and closing sales. They find the realistic renderings helpful for clients to visualize their spaces, which aids in decision-making. Users report that while the renderings can be high quality, achieving this often requires significant time and effort, particularly with lighting adjustments. Some users experience issues with grainy images and slow rendering times. They appreciate the tool's ability to help clients understand and engage with the design process.
“Important to have accurate visual representations of the new environment a customer will have. It's not easy for everyone that's not a designer to 'see the vision' from a floor plan. 3D spacial diagrams and rendering helps bridge the gap and can make or break a job.Rendering can be amazing in 2020, but it can also be a total Pain in the A**. Auto lighting can be improved, as well as basic tool tips for those starting out who don't realize they need to create the environment as if it's a real one to have the best lighting & visuals.Maybe a 'default' setting with more than what's included in terms of rendering settings would be helpful for times when you just want to show a small kitchen and not spend 5 hours setting up lighting.”

“The rendering features are what help the client to visualize their space, this is critical to the sales process, if they cannot visualize it they will not want to buy it”
