We use sendgrid for marketing automation. It was recommended for us (marketing team) to use. The functionality is worst than basic. Support is non-existent and I find myself always knowing the product better than the support team there. Unless you're an engineer who likes to mess around with APIs, Sendgrid is not the tool for you!
Honestly, can't think of any. It's a source of constant frustration.
Non-existent and clueless support, super basic functionality, impossible to do the most basic tasks expected from a marketing automation tool, etc.

I can't say enough about the people and how helpful they are. We also use sendgrid emails that integrate with our CRM Insellerate. I believe the ease of use can be improved for the standard user.
I liked that my team was familiar with the software and as time went on we saw constant imporvment, great support and improved reporting.
In our industry, we need each salesperson to have a unique signature with unique compliance numeric numbers. Having to copy a new email for each salesperson was cumbersome.

Very disappointed. Especially for the bad support and Sendgrids billing plans. One month we had to pay for three different subscriptions. We still have not got an answer why...
- Easy to end, without notice. - Easy to segment contact lists.
- The billing for number of contacts is very high. - The support never answers. - The design tool has a lot of bugs. - It's hard to erase non-active contacts. - The estimated billing is not correct.

Has strong advanced features and good reporting and stats on deliverability
the support is terrible. Very hard to find a way to contact them and the email addresses provided to contact them are no longer active. shocking for a large platform like this.

While it has minor problems, on the overall, we are super reliant on emails for our business and Sendgrid has been a trustworthy tool.
Easy to understand and operate. In other words, adaptability. Oh, great customer support team too by the way!
Crashes quiet frequently. Contact edit details doesn't get saved in one go.

Overall, I would select SendGrid over many of it's competitors. It is simple to use, quick, and best of all the delivery rate is way higher than other platforms that I have used.
SendGrid is incredibly simple to use. Its ease in usability makes working with team members who are not as tech savvy, incredibly helpful. This lets more folks take on the initiative to use the platform, over having one person who really knows how to use it.
The contact limit. When downloading large contact sizes, you have to be really careful about doubling up on contacts, or erasing the file but not the contacts which has been confusing for me

Maintaining contact with customers as well as providing automated and system-generated notifications from our products.
Being able to automate email notifications was a must-have for our product. SendGrid made this easy through the use of templates and easy-to-understand documentation. We have been able to use templates or modify them through the code editor to suit all of our needs.
Like many others, the customer support for SendGrid has been the biggest drawback for me so far. Otherwise, the only other issue has been managing unsubscribes if the user was responding to a message sent to a distribution list or group alias.

Once the settings were ok, SendGrid is a great software for email and marketing automation. With just a few clicks I don’t have to worry to send the emails for new subscribers anymore.
It is easy to build marketing funnels with SendGrid. It is also easy to import your email list from another provider.
The first settings configuration wasn’t easy - the email confirmation wasn’t reaching my inbox, had to contact support.

We are using SendGrid to send out confirmation emails from our website, as well as newsletters. The service works as expected, they have a lot of FAQ's that will answer majority of your questions.
The functionality of the software is great, sending through SMTP or API calls are quick. Very reliable tool to use for sending mass emails.
Not a fan of their support. There is no number to call, cannot contact support without logging in, which is an issue when they lock out your account. Their support teams takes too long to contact you, and they are bad at following up.

It was okay; it could have been a better product if the software had fewer bugs.
The contact feature and UI are the best; you need no training and you can pretty much immediately start using it.
The software is riddled with bugs. This is the only downside to this software. After using it for 2 years, we decided to move on to different software.

It is more frustrating than helpful. Our organization is currently moving to a new email service.
The analytics tools was the best aspect of our use of SendGrid.
It is constantly buggy. Contact lists don't always load in. Email drafts don't always save, resulting in loss time and effort.

Absolute would not recommend this company. The most important function they have is to safeguard our contact list. They failed miserably.
Sendgrid Lost half my database and will not offer any suggestions as to why. I have asked for escalation of this issue but they refuse to do so.
Customer support was absolutely unwilling to assistant in resolving a massive loss of contacts. It wasn't significant enough for them to escalate.

Emails have fast delivery speed and are not marked as spam. It can send a campaign to a mailing list of 5,000 people in about 10 minutes.
Contact upload is unreliable. I frequently need to upload the csv lists twice in order to successfully upload the contacts to the system.

We use SendGrid for newsletter and outbound sequences and our overall experience is positive. It serves its purpose, while some of the functionalities could be improved.
I like the ability to send single newsletters, or automations. I like the segmentation of the contact lists. I like the interface and user friendliness. I like the foreign IP address for risk free outbound initiatives.
I would invite the possibility to merge contact lists. I would also invite more intuitive set up of the automations. I would love better analytics with the automations.

Positive experience. Sendgrid is used as a reference solution within other tools such as Landbot and Xenioo (chatbot builder) and is very easy to use. The value for money becomes a disadvantage as the number of mailings increases
Scalability, good price and intuitive interface make SendGrid one of the best solutions when you need to send emails via a simple, reliable, stable and very responsive API
If your contact list is very large, pricing is no longer so convenient. When I needed support, I didn't get any quick or helpful answers right from the start.

Overall a good solution, especially for low budget high volume sending needs. Great for a startup company
It is inexpensive and gets the job done.
I feel that the contact management is very limited. Very basic in this regard, so that you have to do workaround to include or uninclude lists from certain emails.

The service is providing what is paid for. The customer support is on point and reliable.
The interface seems to be quite professionals. They also offer an abundance of documentation in regards to your sending. They offer additional services to improve deliverability and if you are to send usual promotional emails you can use the warmed up IPs from their essentials package. If you are sending transactionals I would have to recommend only PRO accounts.
They currently lack substantial features in contact list management ( a bit rigid). They do have an automation feature in BETA that seems to be coming together but still waiting for an official version.

Sendgrid is great with delivering emails and is undisputed in transactional emails . Use it for its top notch deliverability, reporting and analytics as no other application even comes close to it in these areas but as a total email marketing platform; it lacks behind as it has very few campaign automation features, it is difficult to get used to and has a poor customer support. It is also slightly more expensive than others and falls in the middle of the lineup in terms of pricing.
Deliverability, reporting and analytics and email validation are the areas where sendgrid is at the top. It even tells you if the email ids you are sending emails to are active or are misspelled or are disposable. It has excellent reporting features and lets you know the emails which bounced, got opened or got unsubscribed. Its email editor is good wherein you can edit existing templates using drag and drop features and you can also use tags for sending personalised emails.
Campaign automation, segmentation of contact lists are severe drawbacks of this application. There is hardly anything you can automate in terms of automating your campaigns or automating when to send emails on certain action points.

SendGrid is the best option that assembles a host of benefits in one place; its editor, analytics and reports, and particularly, its powerful feature to prioritize campaigns and increase performance let every business excels.
SendGrid is the best option to boost your business ahead or rather your marketing emails; its detailed reports on clicks, opens, subscribers and even spam lets you revise or edit your campaigns and thus increase conversion. SendGrid is best known for its editor, which lets tailor your emails according your needs, both demographic or geographic.
Actually, I become slow to recommend SendGrid due to its limited features of contact management; it does not provide many options compared to Mailchimp. I also did not like its pricing, which determines the quality of your SendGrid dashboard.

None. Our account was locked with no explanation before we could log in for the first time (please understand, we were banned before we could ever try the actual service) and there is no explanation given, and no way to contact the company.
Sendgrid automatically banned our account - WITHOUT us ever logging in. I put in an email address, signed up, and then received notification that they "cannot support your account at this time" and "Thank you for your interest in Twilio SendGrid, best of luck with your future endeavors." I want to be clear. There was no communication. There was no explanation. There was no avenue for appeal. There was only an automated response from a system, and then to contact support you have to "log in" - well I was never able to log in, not once. They gather your user count on sign up. We are a small company, of fewer than 10 users. I have to wonder whether my user base had been 10,000 instead whether we would've been able to at least talk to someone... To find out why?

Functional, not that cheap. It works, but in the end we jumped ship.
It's easy to use with a clean interface. It did allow me to send nice looking campaigns to my list of contacts.
At the time of my use it was lacking some features like detailed list segmentation / tagging of contact. That may have improved now. The cost stacks up quite quickly and ends up being just as much as the category leaders in the email space.

SendGrid remains the best and provides a multitude of options.
This is my goto service for websites that send emails via contact forms etc. The generic mail functions usually provided by CMS software isnt usually great and can generated missed emails etc. However, with SendGrid, you can be sure that emails will go on time and get delivered without hiccups.
It is a little difficult to setup. Their official WordPress plugin hasnt been updated in 2 years. Their documentation is good enough though

The api is easy to manage and to make. This is the only advantage, but api may be good but then the emails won't deliver what is the use of a good api then.
Very bad customer service. Do not have the knowledge. And only try to sell extra . For example they cause a problem in the email and therefore it is delivering into spam of hotmail. Then they will propose to contact their specialist, but you will be charged!

- can be pricy - not as advance as MailChimp or sendgrid - high rate on filtering on spam catchers

We outgrew the platform very quickly. We needed something that looked professional and was easier to use, and then eventually a professional tech-first platform like SendGrid.
Easy to get started particularly for those that are not tech saavy. The price point is not bad, especially among infrequent users, and does not get overly expensive with large lists like MailChimp can. Delivers basic functionality well and has recently started trying to add new features.
Constant Contact was one of the first e-mail marketing platforms out there, but they failed to innovate while many new entrants came into the market and had much more sophisticated platforms. They fall in a weird category now, they are not cheap to get started like MailChimp, but they lack the sophistication of SendGrid. I'm not sure if I would purchase them again.

It has worked for what we had needed as our company was growing. As time passed however we needed more comprehensive tools to better track and grade our user base.
The product was easy to setup, easy to deploy and pretty straightforward reporting wise. However it lacks some helpful features.
I wish it had the kind of tracking and reporting as say SendGrid or similar. The pricing on this is however good and this will work for smaller to mid-size businesses.
