Positive
We've used Mailchimp as a way to send newsletters across to various clients. Previously we were going through our outbound filter, which was causing issues with bulk mail
No complaints with software. The price is comparable to SendGrid, with a better UI

Very positive. The product is very effective and well supported.
Mailchimp sets the standard for mass email campaigns. It is the primary resource for all email marketing.
Cost structure could be better. It is pricey when compared to Sendgrid, Constant Contact or other competitors.

The overall experience is great and strongly recommend others to use at startup level.
Mailchimp helps to send the bulk email software to the newsletter subscribers an great ease. It also allows to send the bulk email without any charge at initial level.
It appears little bit costly as compared to the other software like SendGrid. Other than this there is no such cons in Mailchimp.

Extremely easy to use and since usage is widespread easy to get assistance from people in the office. Free plan has a great number of functionalities.
Limited templates is the biggest drawback of this product compared to its competitors and power users generally migrate to other programs such as sendgrid.

In the last 2.5 years, I use this software. I have a good experience. It is good from other email marketing software like sendgrid etc.
This is the best email marketing software. I highly recommend Mailchimp for email marketing.
It uses only in free version 2k mails. performance data is slow. Bounce mail data do not clearly show.

It's easy to use and design templates. The campaigns are easy to send and overall navigating is user f riendly but SendGrid is cheaper and let me upload my list without any problems.
I like how you can easily organize your database, tag your names and set up auto emails. I also like the ease of designing the templates.
I uploaded a mailing list and it froze my account only allowing me to use a "double opt-in" feature which I didn't like. Also very expensive for a list of over 5K names

We use MailChimp for creating company digests for the people who are interested in our organization's news (we do camps and there are many people who support our non-profit). Also, as I said above, it's good for follow-ups.
- MailChimp is convenient because it's very simple to use (drag&drop in the emails, numerous templates, and ease of navigation) - Marketing Automation is great and we use it for follow-up emails, creating chains of emails - Landing pages option, great for sign up for newsletter calls to action - GDPR-ready solutions - It integrates well with numerous third-party providers (for example, HubSpot)
- it can be more pricey than the other competitors on the market (for example, SendGrid), but at the same time, if you can afford MailChimp, you should go for it because of its convenience and features.

We had a good experience with the MailChimp. Earlier, I tried couple of marketing tools Hubspot, sendgrid but this UI is easy and the support is also approachable. We received a quick issue resolves while at the time of campaign creations.
The best marketing automation platform which helped me to reach more clients. We can automate the emails according to our choice. We can set a campaign and can schedule the campaign anytime hassle free
No cons has noticed even the pricing is good while compare with other email marketing tools.

It is amazing til you need support or more customization. Unfortunately you can only get it now through mailchimp, which for me, lost much of its appeal.
Mandrill used to be the go-to transactional email service. It had free plans, great and easy to use hooks and templating system. The report is just amazing to use, you can filter by api key, making it possible for you to know which of your websites is sending more email.
It is only available at a much higher cost than it used to be for MailChimp users. There is no more free plan and support has that "moody" mailchimp attitude of "we know best". I ditched it for sendgrid.

Mailchimp is great for simple email lists, email marketing and marketing automation. The pricing is competitive, it has loads of integrations with other platforms and its quite easy to use.
For advanced users, mailchimp doesn't offer enough customisation and pricing can become expensive at high volumes. The email editor in other platforms (e.g. campaign monitor) is nicer to use, and platforms like SendGrid are much cheaper for those sending huge volumes of mail.

It is very simple to get professional looking emails sent to a wide range of people, and the price is definitely right when it's free for low volumes. It also has a great reports feature which enables us to see how many people are reading, interacting, and engaging with the emails.
The designs can be a bit rigid and not as customizable as I would like to have. Additionally, the are a very marketing-oriented service and not as friendly for more business-related tasks such as email followup for receipts, etc. For that, we use sendgrid.

My overall experience with MailChimp has been mostly positive. As long as you follow the laws for e-mail marketing and don't begin to shoot out random spam all over the place then you should be able to use this platform for your overall marketing needs. They have excellent tracking and delivery and the ability for you to send content to your customers that is both mobile and desktop ready is a big plus.
Mailchimp has some of the best sending rates in the e-mail marketing industry next to sendgrid and other service providers. I found that when I needed to get something sent to someone there was not fear or question if it was going to land in the spam unlike other popular marketing platforms.
There are many aspects of Mailchimp that are clunky such as the ability to create autoresponders, the ability to separate list, and the ability for you to make specific lead capture forms for custom websites. Their code can often be cumbersome to use, so be aware that you will need some time to find everything you need within their system when first setting up.

A transactional email server is setup within minutes and available for you to send out content to your distribution list. The application provides - Graphs to show how many emails you're sending each day - What countries your sending the emails to - Open rates - Mail clients used (useful to optimise content) - Spam rates/unsubscribe rates - Great delivery rates Very cost effective.
A couple of years ago, Mandrill made it a requirement for you to have a Mailchimp subscription in order to use Mandrill. It would have been better in my opinion to keep the two applications independent, just like Sendgrid. Whilst it doesn't make the cost materially more expensive, it does mean that you have to log into Mandrill via Mailchimp which is annoying.

MailChimp, from a developer's perspective, has been a real beacon of hope for me. Other services are either comparable, as far as integration goes, or just really drop the ball which make MailChimp my personal go-to for mailing list services. Their free tier is also quite generous which makes getting started that much easier on us developers.
I've used several services similar to MailChimp (SendGrid, Constant Contact, etc) but MailChimp is by far one of the more up-to-date services in this category. The competition felt very far behind as far as aesthetics and functionality are concerned and MailChimp simply excels at being fresh and on top of it's game. This, to me, is the best part of MailChimp but their ability to manage lists and groups within their account area is quite a crucial piece that is invaluable when it comes to email campaigns.
Some of the semantics used by MailChimp can sometimes make things difficult to get back into if you haven't logged in in a little while. Like similar services I also feel like templating in MailChimp is a bit clunky and can also be quite confusing getting started. Once you are well adjusted in MailChimp, though, everything is quite understandable and easy to maneuver.

Since I wanted to make my own emails custom, SendGrid work great!
I found their API really simple to use. Someone else on my project used it before, and it was incredibly easy to pick up and figure out. And it worked just as expected!
If you don't need to programmatically send emails (i.e., build them yourself), then other options like MailChimp may be better.

Sendgrid has the most robust API that you can connect to your apps. Super handy for sending transactional emails. Great customer service.
No free options (unless you're grandfathered in from an old plan), marketing emails are pretty barebones and featureless, especially compared to something like mailchimp.

Good to start with as a free software but much harder to use than other rivals such as MailChimp or FreshMarketing
Very standard email campaign service you can find everything you need to track the performance, click rate, maintain contacts and of course edit your email.
Several components of SendGrid makes it very difficult to use. First, adding new contact and organising them into group isn't as straightforward as it you would in any contacts app like the one on smartphone or Google. Second, the email editor is sometimes complicated when you want to format it nicely such as adjust line spacing, indentation, text colour and fonts. Sometime it is faster to just type in Word and paste into the editor. Also when you have repeating campaigns (which you probably duplicate from old one), still you have to re-enter subject line and add contacts. That is not duplicate at all! Finally the workflow to create campaign, edit email and send out is not smooth and intuitive as a step-by-step procedure.

We don't use sendgrid as a marketing tool, but rather as the email backend for our customer interface to send them notifications. For this purpose, it does a great job, was easy to set up, and has had no issue keeping track of activity and generating emails to the correct users.
It is a bit complicated on the front end at first when compared to mailchimp, but it does offer some additional customizations which is nice.

If you are cold-emailing or got a list in a grey area, Sendgrid could be just up your alley.
Sendgrid is not as stringent as other ESPs such as Mailchimp or Aweber, hence provides an ample solution for cold emailing to prospects.
The segmentation in this ESP is quite tricky, but once you get the hang of it it's a walk in the park.

SendGrid handles all of our mailing campaigns and we are very satisfied with the performance. I like the deliverability and tracking metrics provided by it.
It's been over 2 years of using Sendgrid for many things within the marketing team. The code editor allows for effective e-mail marketing campaigns. SendGrid has tons of useful e-mail templates.
SendGrid doesn't have an intuitive GUI to edit like MailChimp. To make a custom e-mail marketing campaign you must know how to code.

Overall, SendGrid is a high-value software with a great simplistic way about it. However, I think they are severely lacking in other areas such as reporting and confusing pricing model.
This software is great for creating custom designs and importing HTML for experience coders. The greatest feature about this tool is list segmentation. They make it very simple to segment your lists in a very strategic way.
This software has very poor reporting stats comparable to their competitors such as MailChimp, ConstantContact and Vertical Response. Specifically, you cannot see which individuals opened your emails.

As a developer, the importance of clear well-written documentation cannot be overstated. In my opinion, SendGrid's documentation is one of their best assets.
SendGrid definitely excels as an email deliverability platform for applications, but their offering for email marketing when compared to the likes of MailChimp, ActiveCampaign and, etc. leaves a lot to be desired.

I would recommend against SendGrid. We started using SendGrid using a relative old list. We immediately ran into issues with this list and had our account suspended. Checking the same list with MailChimp we found that MailChimp warned us about the quality issues before sending, allowing us to clean the list, and SendGrid just closed our account after sending and running into high bounce rates. After that we had to deal with a highly critical customer service department that treated us like a headmaster treats a child. Contrastingly, working with MailChimp is a breeze. I realize that using an old list was actually a mistake on our side. However, I believe a service can protect you against making beginner's mistakes in stead of punishing you for them.
Cheap
* Easy to make mistakes * When you do, they suspend your account and you get to deal with the stern customer department

We firstly used MailChimp but, as a startup, we can't afford its costs so we decided to turn to Sendgrid that is really convenient. However its shortcomings are very limiting in customization of campaigns
Sendgrid is a convenient and reliable email delivery software. It offers the possibility to manage huge contact lists and to have a custom IP. Its delivery rate is really high. Sendgrid monitor and offer a lot of statistics related to each campaign you sent. It also provides the overall performance of the various campaigns. All the lists are easy to manage and segment. You can also do A/B testing.
The standard templates are really basic. When you try to lay your own template out you might face with many configurations problems. In particular if you start creating a layout using the "Design" tool and then you want to customize some aspects through the HTML editor you may lost many information and your changes may be irreversible. No automation or email journey function to easily organise and manage multiple submissions over time

It did what we needed it to do, so that was good. We used it for over a year for monthly newsletters, but as soon as our marketing budget allowed it, we switched to MailChimp.
It did work and it did send the email newsletters that we needed it to. Therefore, it wasn't a complete waste of money :D Compared to many other options for email marketing, SendGrid was one of the cheapest options (except for sending the newsletters manually through one's email) and that was one of the reasons why we went with it.
It's got a lot of features, but they feel half-baked (I'm sorry, but they do.) For example, you can unsubscribe those whose emails have bounced or who unsubscribed. But in order to do that, you need to download those lists, then upload them to a special list you can call "unsubscribes" or whatever, and then, right after you've imported this list, you delete it - along with associated accounts. THIS deletes the people who bounced from your lists. Seriously?! The annoying thing was the styling within the newsletter. I am a perfectionist, so all text sizes and everything should be consistent. However, SendGrid kept changing the styles of my text and I had to choose "Normal" several times (even after copy-pasting the text from Notepad that doesn't support formatting AT ALL). And if you click on "Edit HTML" (which I often do because it's a fast way to clean away all the annoying tags), SendGrid would convert my block to HTML and would have an entirely different set of styles for it. Also, the support pages were written for someone who is native to this SendGrid thing and not a newbie. Despite doing email marketing for years, I had a hard time understanding what I need to do.

Super simple to set up - documentation was pretty clear, and we were able to hook up our email domain to their systems in 15 min. We use them for simple transactional emails, and haven't had any deliverability issues.
We would switch our Mailchimp marketing emails to them if their UI editing and management tools were as robust - but they seem to making nice improvements in this area, so maybe that will come sooner than we realize :)

I have had many frustrating experiences working with this platform and spent more time using this then I would like to. I would likely not recommend this in comparison to other similar platforms like mailchimp.
The site is pretty straight forward and easy to navigate.
There are a lot of technical kinks that need to be worked out. Simple things like copy and paste, moving items around, etc. often do not work and will kick me out of the program. This often does not save my work even though it 'automatically' saves. Also, minor changes to specs often messes up the entire layout, causing me to have to start over. It would also be nice if you had the option to view emails from a browser, as we use this site for a newsletter and having the option to download this/upload a link to a website would be helpful.

SendGrid is the best option that assembles a host of benefits in one place; its editor, analytics and reports, and particularly, its powerful feature to prioritize campaigns and increase performance let every business excels.
SendGrid is the best option to boost your business ahead or rather your marketing emails; its detailed reports on clicks, opens, subscribers and even spam lets you revise or edit your campaigns and thus increase conversion. SendGrid is best known for its editor, which lets tailor your emails according your needs, both demographic or geographic.
Actually, I become slow to recommend SendGrid due to its limited features of contact management; it does not provide many options compared to Mailchimp. I also did not like its pricing, which determines the quality of your SendGrid dashboard.

SendGrid is a tool made for those looking for industrial strength e-mail marketing. If you have a small list and want a free tool where you have many templates and can drag and drop designs, MailChimp is the right tool. However, if you are sending millions of e-mails and want to use code and highly technical attributes with tens of thousands of users in your e-mail list you pretty much have to abandon MailChimp and SendGrid is the best tool in the space
The code editor and how everything is optimized for coding allows for truly beautiful e-mail marketing campaigns. SendGrid can accommodate beautiful e-mail templates that were created in HTML/CSS, you just have to know how to code for it to be useful for you.
They do not have a way to graphically edit particularly easily like with MailChimp. To make a good looking e-mail marketing campaign you must know how to code, there are not a lot of templates provided for you to edit or drag and drop. It was not intended as a tool if you would like to drag and drop. On the upside this got us to learn how to code better.
