Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

LOGINventory overview
What is LOGINventory?
LOGINventory is an on-premises IT asset management solution from Schmidt's LOGIN in Munich, Germany. On the market since 2002 and used by more than 13,000 users, from mid-sized companies to organisations with 50,000 assets on one architecture.
One inventory, the right method for each situation
Agentless is the default: the server queries devices remotely over protocols already open in most environments, WMI for Windows, SSH for Linux, SNMP for network gear. Nothing is installed on target systems; the setup wizard takes under 30 minutes. For sites in their own subnets, a lightweight scanner runs on one Windows machine per site and syncs results into the same platform. No second data set. Laptops in the field or at home record themselves, with a locally installed agent or a logon script, and report back on the next connection. Devices with no network interface can be entered by hand. Further sources feed the same database, among them Active Directory, vSphere, Azure and imports.
One database, up to 1,117 values per asset
Hardware down to serial numbers and warranty status, software with versions and patch levels, configuration such as firewall and antivirus state, permissions including shares and AD groups. Asset types run from Windows and Linux servers through switches, routers and printers to VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, M365 and Entra ID, plus non-IT items like vehicles and keys. A license can be traced to a device, a device to a location, a change to a point in time.
What it covers
Network inventory with graphical topology: switch connections, VLANs, floor plans. License management with detection of over- and under-licensing; customers typically cut license costs by 20 to 30 percent. IT documentation from templates: client and server docs, Microsoft deployment summary, ISO 27001 template, GDPR folder, emergency manual. Vulnerability management with CVE matching and context-based prioritisation, so findings are ranked by your environment, not a generic CVSS score. At one customer with 8,500 devices, weekly analysis dropped from 30 hours to 2 hours.
Lifecycle, labels and peripherals
LOGINventory prints an individual QR code label for every asset. Scanning it with a smartphone opens the asset page, where handover and return are documented with the recipient, a note, tags and a signature on the phone. Several devices can be handed over at once; on return, all assets of the same user are preselected. General lifecycle entries with a category and an end date cover maintenance and repairs, so an asset stays traceable from purchase to disposal. The same applies to items that never touch the network. Any peripheral can be created by hand and its type is free text: headset, webcam, docking station, key, whatever you use. Detected monitors, docking stations, drives and USB sticks can be turned into records directly. Every item carries an inventory number, a label and a purchase record with date, price, invoice and location, for GoBD and audits.
Compliance evidence
LOGINventory supplies the asset register, audit trails and documentation templates that NIS2, DORA and ISO 27001 audits ask for.
AI assistant
LIA, the LOGINventory Intelligent Assistant, is the AI built into the product. Ask in plain language which devices are still missing Windows 11 and LIA returns the list. No filters, no query language. Optional; text values are anonymised before transmission.
Data stays with you
LOGINventory runs fully on-premises. Inventory data stays on the customer's own infrastructure, no cloud requirement, no third-party servers. Relevant for regulated sectors: healthcare, public administration, finance.
Licensing
Per asset and year, from 25 assets, minimum 162.50 EUR a year. From 3.70 EUR per asset in large environments, 6.50 EUR at entry; SAM Edition with license management 4.70 to 8.60 EUR. Peripherals are separate add-on assets. A 30-day full trial covers the entire network; a free version for up to 20 devices needs no license key.
