Pros

Love the software and so does our staff. Expansion options were a major consideration as we have more takeout locations opening so this was a winning solution for us.
What I liked about Toast was how easy the integration was for our management team and staff. I would highly recommend.
Toast is a very easy and user friendly way to order food for our office. I like how straightforward the steps are on the app to order.

Pros

Great customer support, very easy to use brilliant for accountancy and amazing software.
After being held to one time only only for this call price and grand promises of excellent customer service.
Overall, the flexibility and customization is the best feature and the reason we stay. In addition, Epos is always updating and improving.

Cons

I've been trying to set up online ordering for weeks now. It's been counting a lot of problems because of the basic lack of customer support.
The worst was the display screen and the use of it on the line.
Toast's NEW online ordering has a complicated drop down menu that causes guests to struggle.

Cons

Probably the worst over customer experience I have had across any industry. And this is not after one bad experience, this is spanning 3+ years.
Insistence that the problem was Xero for over a week was frustrating until eventually a functioning link was established to the API (not a Xero problem). Then the problems really started.
I have tried since December to get this account paused and stop being charged. I've been promised every single week since the first charge that they would "pause," and refund the charges.

Best thing to happen to our restaurant!

It increased efficiency and accuracy in every part of our restaurant. The reporting is incredibly detailed, yet easy to navigate.

Pros

Ease of use is the biggest pro for Toast. From initial training through menu editing and reporting, everything is very intuitive and easy to understand. I can hand a new server a tablet and they can input an order without any help, right from day 1.

Cons

Right now it is not pizza based. It works, and works well in our restaurant, but things like changing the size of a pizza are not possible right now. I hear it is in the works though.

The ability to customize what our restaurant seating chart looks like is my favorite part. There are no guessing table numbers!

Cons

As of now, I have no cons about Toast POS. Toast has served its purpose and continues to be a great software for my needs.

So much issues with connectivity

Last 2 years have been bad. They must of changed something now I have load of problems especially connectivity issues.

Pros

Its easy to use and has a lot of functions

Cons

Every time they do update which is often 4 times a year it throws the pos off and i have to call to reconnect it!! So annoying and they are so busy I have to be on hold for 30-45mins!!! They need to hire more people!! I wont use toast anymore

Overall the Toast program is on the best that I have used. I would recommend it. Not a big fan of the tech side due to lengthy wait times for repairs.

Pros

It is very easy to use the POS and train employees on. I love the ipad functionality of it. There is training online for the POS.

Cons

It has many features that I need to learn more about. We have one system down and it has been 2 weeks now due to waiting on the tech team.

We use 4 online ordering platforms, and by far Toast has the fewest users. May be good eventually, but for now choose another platform.

Pros

Free tablet for use of their ordering platform.

Cons

Very expensive cost for taking orders, with few few users actually using the software.

It started off strong, and then just slowly going down hill. They have you locked in is how I feel, and now they don’t care.. They are worried about other things...

Pros

The hardware is nice. Having a handheld order taker is very nice. Also saving some paper with people signing the handheld device, but there are some issues as well. If there is an issue, it is nice to have a US based support center..

Cons

Well, You can not add an auto charge of 3% if a person is using a credit card unless you manually add it, the kitchen display has glitches, an order with 5 things will send a text alert for each item rather than the entire order when finished. I was also promised that the credit cards would not cost more, they would match or beet what I had in the past, and that is not ringing true to the tune of around...

Toast is NOT worth it

Started well but ended terribly. Called last week to see if they wanted to keep our business. They did not get back to us. We will now likely be switching to Spot On.

Pros

Originally, it was easy to use and had novel technologies. We were one of the first companies to adopt the platform in Chicago.

Cons

The handhelds and computers are always going off-line. Their switching of security systems left us off-line for days and took out other software and programs that weren't even toast related. We lost THOUSANDS of dollars. However, that isn't the worst part of Toast. If you go with them as currently constituted, their restaurant support will become the bane of your existence. Long waits. No help. They will "escalate" the case and no one will ever get back to you. It is absolutely miserable.

what ever happened to needed customer support

Once covid hit and they let go most of their staff wait time for support is anywhere from 30.min to 90 not acceptable and the people working there are now very very subpar. At this pace I don't see toast like most in this space surviving

Great analytics but the on boarding and follow up customer service is embarrassing.

Toast is very easy to access remotely. I have better control over my sales and my employees. I am able to better quantify discounts and account for missed cash. I've never before been able to do that with my diner. Even our end of night tie-out is now easy.

Be Prepared for nickel and dimming

Overall it runs smoothly 90% of the tine with no issues. When there is an issue, good luck getting the resolution you were hoping for and be prepared to get very frustrated with them. Unless you're adding on services to increase your monthly bill, your not important to them anymore. Also the install was a complete joke, do yourself a favor and do the self install and save your money from the start.

The constant Nickel & Dimming! I have multiple restaurants and its so frustrating that each one has different pricing. I have had toast for over 5 years now and it constantly has changed so much so fast that the customer service line employees have no idea how to get things done. If you power on and off and it does not work you will have to wait for someone to call you back that has higher credentials. Also I have had their special router go out 2x now (funny just a week after warranty both times) and my restaurant could no longer use the POS and they could care less. Its been 1 week and still no replacement. Such a shame their customer service is so bad and it just feels like a money grab at times.

We did have breadcrumb as well as chow now, until we found out about toast. It is great to have a pos that have online ordering and is so easy to use for a fraction of the price we were paying for our last service. I'd recommend toast to anyone looking for a new POS

I have worked in restaurants but I have never been on the manager/owner side and it's not as easy as you think it is. When running your own business for the most part you are on your own! I sat down with a computer tech to figure out the best POS system for my business. There are SO many out...

Pros

Customer Support! - I rate them 100 on this!! Any questions I have big or small, they are just a phone call away! If my call isn't answered right away or I get busy, they have the feature to leave your number and they will call you back ASAP. Customer Service - Being a tech and answering some of the crazy questions (I'm one who probably has the most) they are always patient, friendly and very professional when answering questions.

Cons

Credit Card Processing Fees - With other Processing companies out there some are cheaper but overall with Toast, they win. It's the hidden fees you have to watch. Toast fees appear to be higher but what you see is what you get where with the other guys you have to read the fine print.

Can't Recommend Enough

Love the system, great customer support, love the analytics.

Pros

I can access it anywhere with my Android based phone. Check sales or help solve an issue. Editing buttons takes seconds and over all had a very easy layout. Online ordering is synced with the tablets so when I 86 an item it is out everywhere. I like that I can email or text receipts and do e-cards quickly at the terminal. There is now a new feature that if a server needs assistance immediately they can send a text to the manager on shift and it tells the manager what terminal to go to.

Cons

Learning the cash register system was very confusing.

We love our Toast POS system! We have been with Toast for a couple of months now and it is one of the best business decisions we have ever made! We used to have to pay 2 separate companies for POS and one for online ordering.. with Toast it's ALL IN ONE (and cheaper than both of the old companies). Toast also offers very thorough accounting and inventory software that makes it easy for us to see where o. ur money is coming and going! The software is very user-friendly. We are happy we joined and can't wait to see what this growing company has in store for the future!

Cons

Would like the option to have both digital and print receipts available after every transaction, I'm sure they will find a way.

Toast support is the worst!

The support is terrible. Hours long waits on the phone when you call to trouble shoot problems. Once the sale is completed the sales person ghosts you or makes excuses about following up. The installers never know what they are supposed to be installing and then leave with the job half done.

Pros

Easy to use for our employees. Apple pay with the cue works well.

Cons

The support from Toast is the worst I have ever encountered. From the sales people, to the implementation team, to the ongoing support. No one takes accountability for anything that goes wrong. After you sign up and then want the system installed, contacting the installers is next to impossible. No email address provide, just a google phone number that no one ever answers. If I could I would change back to Micros, but with 10 locations now using Toast that is not financially feasible.
