Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Tickin overview
What is Tickin?
Tickin is a human resource management system and workforce management platform for distributed teams across time zones. It consolidates time tracking, attendance management, payroll processing, leave administration, shift scheduling, and project management into a unified solution. The platform integrates with Slack and Microsoft Teams, allowing HR functions to operate within existing communication channels and removing the need to adopt additional applications.
The time and attendance module enables employees to clock in and out via Slack, Teams, web browser, or an optional desktop application. Work sessions are tracked automatically according to configurable office hours and time zones, and break durations are deducted from total hours for accurate overtime calculations. Overtime detection alerts employees when daily thresholds are exceeded, logging their choices with the session. Late arrival monitoring compares clock in times against scheduled hours plus a grace period and notifies managers of late arrivals while excluding public holidays. The optional desktop application provides idle detection by monitoring keyboard and mouse activity and marking sessions as idle after fifteen minutes of inactivity.
The payroll and leave management module automates salary calculations with pro rated amounts, custom deductions, and integrated overtime data. PDF salary slips are generated and delivered each month. Custom leave policies track balances and route approval requests through team leads and administrators. Attendance corrections can be requested and reviewed through a two stage approval process with a complete audit trail. Shift scheduling tools enable administrators to design weekly schedules with defined working days and hours. The project and task management module organizes work on visual boards, supports metadata such as priorities and due dates, allows multiple assignees and nested checklists, and enables file attachments with search capabilities. Project time tracking associates hours with tasks and requires a two stage approval process before synchronization with payroll. Dashboards provide visibility into time and progress by project, task, or individual contributor.
The chat command center consolidates attendance, leave, approval, and reporting functions within a single command that operates identically in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Employees access self service functions such as clocking in and out, break management, leave applications, balance inquiries, attendance history, schedule viewing, and profile management. Team leads gain expanded capabilities including dashboards, attendance monitoring, leave approvals, correction reviews, and alert management. Administrators access organization wide dashboards, reports, employee directories, analytics, and scheduled report configuration, with permissions enforced at the server level. Automated reporting includes daily leave summaries posted in chat channels, weekly and monthly time entry digests delivered by email, and monthly salary slips distributed in accordance with workspace settings. An activity log records all state changes and events to support compliance and dispute resolution. Slack integration supports self service commands, approval workflows, attendance alerts, scheduled reports, and team dashboards. Microsoft Teams integration provides equivalent functionality using a consistent bot architecture. Third party integrations beyond Slack and Microsoft Teams require custom development as there is no public application programming interface at this time.
