Userology overview

What is Userology?

Userology is a cloud-based, end-to-end user research platform that enables product managers, UX designers, UX researchers, and non-researchers at startups and enterprises to recruit participants, conduct AI-moderated research sessions, and synthesize results automatically. The platform's AI moderator conducts asynchronous, voice-based interviews and usability tests, adapting questions dynamically based on prior participant responses rather than following a fixed script. Using computer vision, the moderator observes participant screens in real time and asks context-aware follow-up questions triggered by on-screen behaviors such as hesitation or rage-clicks. Hundreds of sessions can run simultaneously, with first participants joining in as little as 6 minutes, compressing study timelines from weeks to hours.

Userology supports a broad range of research methodologies including prototype testing, tree testing, card sorting, diary studies, and native mobile-app testing on iOS and Android. Participant recruitment integrates with User Interviews, Prolific, and Respondent, drawing from a pool of 10M+ participants across 160+ countries, with session support for 180+ languages. Sessions run up to 120 minutes and all recordings, transcripts, and clips are stored in a centralized repository for reuse. Automated analysis generates usability scores, task success rates, abandonment rates, sentiment analysis, and qualitative themes from transcripts without manual synthesis. Researchers can also query transcripts directly to surface patterns, blockers, or feature opportunities.

The platform is ISO 27001, HIPAA, and SOC 2 compliant, with region-selectable data residency. Study duplication, AI-assisted study setup with best-practice feedback, and role-based access to a shared research asset library make the platform suited for both dedicated research teams and product or design teams running evaluative studies without a full-time researcher. Quantitative metrics and rich qualitative insights are accessible from a single interface, reducing reliance on separate tools for moderation, recruitment, and analysis.
