What is Mobile Resource Manager?

Mobile Resource Manager from Job Cost Inc is a real-time field service resource management solution designed for service departments or companies managing field resources, including technicians, subcontractors, trucks, and equipment. Included are tools for scheduling & dispatching, customer location tracking & mapping, service call monitoring, work order creation, management reporting, service contract management, and more.

Mobile Resource Manager’s dispatch board enables users to schedule calls by dragging-and-dropping them into available appointment slots. Single-day and multi-day appointments can be scheduled, and multiple resources can be selected per appointment. Users can customize the color-coding of appointments, and define the number of days view to suit their preferences. Multiple different dispatch boards can be created for different day views, skill sets, departments, and territories. Users can also define alerts for lateness, exceeded hours, vacation conflicts, or overlapping appointments.

Mobile Resource Manager allows users to track customer locations, equipment, service histories, quotes, proposals, and documents, and create & manage service contracts including equipment covered, warranty periods, preventative maintenance schedules, and recurring billing. Work orders can also be created, with customizable layouts, electronic signature capture, and one-step conversions into invoices. Mobile Resource Manager also integrates with a range of accounting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics NAV and GP, QuickBooks, and Job Costs’ own Visual ContrAcct solution.

Pros
This software is very easy to use and stores a great amount of data that is accessible at our fingertips. It is our one stop shop....dispatch, client database, employee information, invoicing, inventory, etc. We have recently started using this for all of our warranty information. It allows us to enter products that were installed and dates. This has been a huge time saver for us. If we are needing a new database/spreadsheet or have any question the customer service is top notch. There are many more functions that we will explore in the future if needed.

Cons
Not knowing all of its capabilities. I would like an owners manual on everything I can do with it. I was not part of the set up team so I do not have the background on what is all available.

We were able to streamline our dispatch operation and speed up the billing process.

Pros
The ability to re-purpose or rename fields. The ability to create custom views and reports which have increased the efficiency of billing. The ability to dispatch via email and visually see appointments on the dispatch board.

Cons
Really none. The user interface may not be the prettiest, but definitely functional and easy to follow.

The software is very strong, fast and error free. The only con to me is that there are lots of windows to wade through. Terminology for jobs etc between MRM and Visual Jobcost can be less confusing for those that use both products.

Pros
The software has the great ability to customize the program to meet the individual business needs. Whether you are scheduling people or equipment the software works great!

Cons
The programs mapping is outdated and not user friendly, although they do include google maps as an option. It would be nice if GPS integration were possible..

Benefits

Technicians and equipment can be scheduled for both single and multi-day appointments by dragging-and-dropping calls, with custom calendar views, user-defined color-coding, and real-time notifications to technicians via email, text, or the mobile app.

Customer locations, equipment, service histories, and documents can all be tracked, and service contract can be set up with recurring billing, warranty periods, and preventative maintenance schedules.

Work order layouts can be customized, and printed, faxed, or emailed, with one-step conversion from work order to invoice.

Service calls and technician locations can be viewed on internal maps, and the system integrates with GPS systems and Google Maps, Bing Maps, and MapQuest.

The native field app for iOS gives technicians access to service histories, quotes & proposals, and lists of equipment by location, and allows them to track documents and collect signatures electronically.
