Jamf Pro is a really great product

Pros
The easy way to manage iPads and classes for schools of all levels.

Cons
The price per iPad is more expensive compared to other products. For example Zulu Desk. The cost of training if you also want to manage MacBooks in Jamf pro.

Large Scale Apple deployment before Jamf was a headache. Jamf has made Apple deployment a lot less stressful!

Pros
Jamf has made managing Apple products much easier. It's better and cheaper than Apple's own tools.

Powerful software with lackluster UX

Used weekly for 6-12 months

Review Source: Capterra

Jamf has been great to work with, but their pricing is not cheap and their mandatory $5,000 upfront training costs seem a bit absurd. Training should be optional in my opinion, especially for companies already familiar with other MDMs (or forced to switch because Jamf bought out another company we were already using and forcing people to migrate to Jamf)

Pros
Jamf and Apple have had a special relationship for several years now, and they are usually the first vendor to support new features and operating system releases. Jamf fully supports all available MDM APIs, and is extremely full-featured.

Cons
There will be a certain level of complexity in any MDM software of this caliber, and Jamf is no different. It's meant for organization IT admins and support staff, not the average user. However, the UI / UX in Jamf could use a lot of improvement. Coming from Xinca (which they bought out), the ease-of-use difference is striking, and not in a positive way. Xinca was just as full-featured, but was easier to use in a lot of ways. Editing a device record? Better make sure you click the little grey Save button in the upper right corner and not the giant blue Done buttton at the bottom right if you want your work to be saved. There are many quirks like the one just mentioned that make me wish they would take the Xinca UX team and give them a year with a big budget to clean up the Jamf workflow UX.

I love Jamf Pro

We used to manage some twenty Mac (desktop and MBP) with Jamf Pro on a previous role for my former employer and Jamf Pro made our lives so easy! Sure, lots of the stuff can be achieved through SSH and remote control, but truth is that when you need to have lots of Mac in top shape for the company employees, Jamf easily cuts down the time needed to administer them to 1/5.

Pros
- Managing multiple Mac systems is as easy as saying 1, 2, 3 - Easy and fast agent installation over network - Useful dashboard with all the metrics you need - Easy to learn, you'll be up and ready in a blink of an eye

Cons
- I wasn't the one that made the call to buy this solution, so I'm not sure of how much does it cost to my company; however, I was told that it isn't cheap - Nothing else I can think of

No downsides to the product itself, but a product of this quality doesn't come cheap. You definitely get what you pay for, but you have to have a healthy budget for it.

Pros
Impossible to pick one thing that I like the most. It provides excellent inventory reporting, powerful and reliable MDM management for devices, powerful software deployment, a complete admin interface that gives me everything I need to manage my devices, and absolutely top-notch customer service.

JAMF does exactly what it says it will. No question. If there's something you'd like to do with your macOS or iOS MDM (also tvOS) and Apple has released the ability to actually do that - JAMF will allow you to control it.

Cons
Only sticking point for me is the price point. JAMF is the gold standard for Apple MDM. They are also the solid-gold-price.

JAMF Is The Best MDM Out There For Apple Devices

Used daily for 6-12 months

Pros
- Excellent management of iOS devices due to their cozy relationship with Apple and their almost singular focus on iOS in the early stages of Casper's development - Can run on both Windows and MacOS servers without a problem (we run on windows) - Uses Open standardsTomcat and MySQL as their back-end - They update JAMF pro on a very regular basis and keep it very current with Apple's new functionality - Their tech support is consistently responsive and helpful

Cons
- Very expensive per-device licensing and the device count tiers are quite wide before you get a price break Database does not scale well beyond several thousand devices (engineer confirmed this to me) - Noticeably slower admin interface once you cross a certain device count threshold - Not very good with integrating/customizing AD schema to JAMF for inventory purposes

Jamf helps us do more with left and adds real tangible value to the Apple devices used by the people who earn and learn at our College!

Pros
The Jamf product clearly has its roots as a software that was thoughtfully designed by System Administrators themselves who understand IT shop workflows.

Cons
The marketplace is crowded and there is a lot of competition. In some cases the competition is able to offer most cost effective solutions. This can make the Jamf solution a more difficult sell to management. The typical offset technique is that Jamf focuses exclusively on the Apple ecosystem and therefor it is unquestionably the best at dealing with our organizations fleet of Apple products.

Management of several schools/districts worth of iPads, centrally managed in a way that makes it very easy to keep up to date

Pros
Support (including chat support) is great. There's a lot to it, so the "ease of use" suffers a little...but if it were too easy, it'd also lose a lot of power. They're always adding new features, and there's a public "Feature Request" page

Cons
Some weird issues pop up that only one person in the office knows the fix for, so I have a support roulette to find the right person (or someone who knows the right person). I'll stress again though that this is rare, and our instance is sort of wacky anyway, so it's a pretty minor "con". The iOS price used to be competitive, but is becoming less so as more vendors come into the market. Experience is great, but the MacOS price, for what we do, is far less competitive. It's very powerful though, so again, a minor con
