The only trouble is if you forget your password to okta you essentially lose access to everything because it is all connected.

Okta is relatively easy to use and I’m sure my IT team loves it. Once you get the settings right it is also pretty seamless and doesn’t add too many additional steps to signing on.

We have pretty good experience with Okta. Other than the intuitive interface, Okta's very considerable customer support really changed our ways of identity management. It is so well-designed and makes the user authentication quite simple; hence, it drives collaboration, employee engagement, and productivity.

It's been a frustrating journey to say the least. I've heard that it's better to use if you implement it at the very beginning, but can be frustrating if you switch over to it later. My experience has been the latter, so if you're interested in it, just be aware of that.

                                                       Prior to Okta, we didn't have any identity management software, single sign-on platform in place. So, it was quite a difficult task on a day to day to navigate all the various different softwares we use internally through manual logins and different applications that we individually signed into. So, it was quite a messy process that Okta really changed the game for when we brought that into the mix.
                                                       So, we chose Okta for a variety of reasons. For starters, it's really the gold standard among identity management, single sign-on systems. It's got the highest security. It's very configurable, very intuitive, and it really does a master job of simplifying and centralizing all your daily applications into one single area for you to navigate to.
                                                       I would say Okta is really simple to get started with. It's really simple to roll out, because it integrates seamlessly with all the different applications we're using. It's a matter of click to get up and to running, have it integrated and logged in and you're good to go. Okta is very secure. So once you're signed in, you're good to go from there.
                                                       I would say to make sure you do a thorough evaluation to really see a demo of how easy it is to use, because the product really sells itself. If you're working with someone to see a live demo, I think that really gives a really hands on view of the software, how it looks, how easy it is, how it's a matter of clicks, and how it just makes your life so much more simple and automated. So, really making sure you either look at the software and doing a test run of it or a demo yourself, really gives you that inside scoop.

So, before choosing Okta I think a lot of companies will look at like different authentication solutions, whether that's off zero or if depending on like where you are in the development process, it can look anything like a custom off too, you might and try to build it yourself. Or I think the other alternative is oftentimes like Firebase or Magic Link.
                                                       So, Okta's chosen for a few reasons, but I think Okta really what they do well is they integrate into other systems. And so, they actually bought OAuth 2.0, so I think those platforms are kind of becoming more and more similar. But what's cool is that if you have an existing service, it's probably easy to integrate to your single sign on or whatever. And that actually provides your employees a pretty great way to then use those tools elsewhere. So, for example, you might have 30 or so apps that your business uses and Okta can kind of provide like a launcher for that and makes it very easy for your employees to not have to like log into 30 different things on a daily basis. And not only that, but I think it's very big and it's sort of their security that they offer is just light years beyond anything that I can build personally. So, not to say that the competitors can't compete, but I think I like letting them worry about authentication in that sense.
                                                       Yeah. So, when you're starting with Okta I think they pride themselves on being relatively easy to integrate. As a user, I think this is where people are really going to enjoy it is that you set it up once and you might have to set up like a two-factor authentication thing. But as a user, it's really not hard to make it a part of your daily workflow. And I think that's where Okta shines and where oftentimes custom authentication falls apart, is it's hard to build something that is really easy to use for your users and easy to use as a developer. And yet Okta has sort of taken on that burden themselves. And so, that integrating it is like that's their bread and butter. Like that's what they're doing. So, they do a good job of it.
                                                       So, if you're thinking about Okta or a different authentication service, there are a few things that I think would be good to look at. One is like pricing and volume of customers using it, right? Or whether it be employees, customers, whatever, that's a big one. But I think on top of that, oftentimes the competitor to Okta isn't necessarily a different authentication platform, but your own custom one. And I really encourage people to not build their own authentication systems. Oftentimes when you're building an app, I think you can get drawn into a lot of different directions and authentication is solved, right? Like other people have already done that. So, why reinvent the wheel? And I think Okta's wheel is pretty good. So, I would lean on theirs.
