Covetrus Pulse's key features

GetApp's analysis of 123 verified user reviews collected between July 2021 and December 2024 identified Covetrus Pulse's most critical features and how it performs according to users.

Billing & Invoicing

Reviewers appreciate Covetrus Pulse's ability to add items to multiple invoices within the same family. They find the client discount classifications and visibility of markdowns helpful. However, users report that the system can be cumbersome, with issues like confusing client billing, difficulty in correcting errors, and glitches that result in inaccurate balances. They also mention the lack of integration with QuickBooks and the need for smoother transitions from treatment plans to invoices. Some users highlight the need for better user design and more intuitive navigation. Of the 58 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Billing & Invoicing, 100% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“I love the ability to add items to multiple invoices in the same family at once. I like being able to see if their other pets have things on their invoice (like meds to pick up) when I am entering the invoice for another. ”
“When using a treatment plan/invoicing surgeries or hospital patients, it is annoying that it will make multiple treatments on a given day so you have to try to remember which one for today's date you've actually been invoicing under, or click through each to figure it out. Creates confusions and mistakes.”

Patient Records Management

Reviewers indicate that Covetrus Pulse's patient records management is functional but can be laborious and slow, especially with large files. They appreciate the ability to view and create records efficiently, and the customizable templates. However, users report challenges with data transfer from other systems, clunky navigation, and the need for a more streamlined and intuitive interface. They also mention the importance of having a search function and better integration with other systems like Avimark. Of the 63 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Patient Records Management, 98% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“Even with customization, very laborious for data entry and with slow servers can be a major time suck if the patient has a large file. Downloading every prescription to print is annoying and also a time suck Attached previous medical history all bear the same title and if a 20 page document then one must download all 20 pages individually not knowing which one would be the one you actually want to view.”
“I like the "view by group" sections that let us look at more specific aspects of the medical records. A search function would be a helpful addition in case we are unable to find something specific in a history.”

Appointment Scheduling

Users report that Covetrus Pulse's appointment scheduling is generally easy to use, with features like drag-and-drop and color coding. They appreciate the ability to move appointments and access various areas directly from the schedule. However, reviewers mention issues with double booking, difficulty in scheduling multiple patients for one client, and the need for better integration with mobile calendars. They also highlight the need for more intuitive navigation and fewer clicks to complete tasks. Of the 53 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Appointment Scheduling, 96% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“It is not possible for equine practices to put multiple patients in one appointment for one farm. This makes the calendar hard to follow on evet so we continue to use both an outside calendar that is easily read on our phones then put them into evet for a reference for billing but it makes twice the work. ”
“The appointment scheduling and calendar features of Pulse are difficult to navigate and visually tricky to see. For our practice, with multiple vets, we found that viewing the schedule was difficult and clunky and we do not use the scheduling feature”

Payment Processing

Reviewers appreciate Covetrus Pulse's integration with WorldPay and Care Credit, which simplifies payment processing. They find the system easy to use and the mobile payment method convenient. However, users report issues with applying payments to invoices, the lack of integration with some preferred credit card processors, and occasional connection problems with terminals. They also mention the need for better support and more straightforward reconciliation processes. Of the 44 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Payment Processing, 93% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“It is unnecessarily cumbersome to apply payments to invoices. System defaults to evenly distribute payment to all invoices rather than applying to oldest first. No help from tech support on this. ”
“We love the integration with WorldPay as it is the first time we've had fully integrated payment processing with our PIMS.”

Charting

Reviewers feel that Covetrus Pulse's charting capabilities are essential for maintaining accurate medical records. They appreciate the customizable SOAP templates and the ability to add notes while working. However, users report issues with saving information, the need for fewer clicks to access different functions, and the desire for a more streamlined and intuitive interface. They also mention the importance of having accurate and up-to-date charts for patient care. Of the 32 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Charting, 91% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“Charting is the same as above. This is the legal medical record for every patient. It is critical to have your team be able to access these documents and view or create a new record to add to the medical record with efficiency. The doctors especially need to have the ability to have a simple method with few steps to create these records as they are the most essential to needing to write these without holding up their flow of the day and slowing down their appointment times or keeping them later than need be. ”
“The doctors seem to have a problem with charting and it not saving the information they enter, I do understand this could be user error. I have had several team members mention something not saving when entered.”

Prescription Processing

Users find Covetrus Pulse's prescription processing helpful, especially with the integration of Vets First Choice. They appreciate the ability to create and print labels easily. However, reviewers mention challenges with managing refills, the need for a more intuitive interface, and issues with label customization. They also highlight the importance of keeping track of available refills and medications, and the need for better integration with in-house prescription refills. Of the 44 Covetrus Pulse users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Prescription Processing, 89% rated this feature as important or highly important.

See related user reviews

“Keeping track of available refills and medications pets have been prescribed is very important to delivering a high level of care, but a poor and unintuitive interface makes this feature difficult to use in moments of high pressure, and even more difficult to train new hires on.”
“I find the dymo label integration is not optimized. Labels cannot be modified to include more text. Customizing labels is very limited and also not intuitive.”

Integration rating: 4.3 (3)

This is the client communication platform we needed! It integrates with Pulse and makes our lives so much easier. I enjoy the ability to text/email the client directly from the Pulse screen with a mere click of the icon. I expect it to pay for itself in better compliance for reminders and appointments, less staff time trying to get confirmations, and far fewer useless postcards!

Weave reads into the PMS for client info. If this integration was complete/maximized then that communication would be 2-way and Weave would be able to write communications back into the patient's chart.

Pros
“I love the easy of this program. I love that I can pull up the program on my cellphone if we at a house call or the power goes out at the clinic.”
“We were very impressed with the reporting features, the ease of keeping patient records, and the ease of learning how to use the software. Having gone from no practice software to eVet was seamless.”
“The customer service and trainers have been awesome. We are very happy with software.”
Cons
“We have had a lot of issues with the printing, the dymo label printer would just stop working for no reason and the printers would not work from time to time and we had to trouble shoot them a lot.”
“The other con would be the inability to store Clients Credit Card numbers, it is high in demand. Printers and label makers are incompatible with Google Chrome - so we often have troubles.”
“The accounting is horrible. It is near unusable to reconcile your daily charges.”
