Marketo spark

2014-12-19

Pros

I use Mailchimp and it doesn't have half the capabilities of Marketo.

Cons

It's mostly for companys with large lists of customers and databases. It doesn't always make sense how to do things, as it's not easy. Unless you have a consultant or take classes, it can be diffcult to learn. The community can be hard to navigate, and I think it takes too long to wait for responses/

Recommendations to others considering Marketo

Take courses, pay the money and hire a good one on one consultant. It's worth the money. Training videos help, but unless you actually go through your specific company's needs, it doesn't matter. Each company has to do things differently and therefore need to use Marketo differently.

Straightforward, yet robust

2018-07-02

Pros

It is a great way to send out emails to a wide variety of people. Its streamlined approach makes sense, for the most part.

Cons

Compared to tools like Marketo or Silverpop, it can come across as a little too basic; some things are MIA>

Easy tool to send automatic newsletters based on RSS

2018-06-07

Pros

I use mailchimp to send automatic newsletter when a new content is published on my blog (it is based on an RSS feed). People subscribed to the weekly newsletter are automatically inserted in the campaign. It is really easy to use and customize. I customized registration form, email templates and messages very quickly.

Cons

I use Marketo as Marketing tool but I was not able with Marketo to send automatic emails based on an RSS.

Simple and Easy To Easy

2019-01-31

Pros

I love how easy it is to make pretty emails using drag and drop features. You don't need to be a developer or know HTML to be able to use this tool.

Cons

I wish there were more automation tool and behavioral triggers, such as Marketo or Eloqua does, but Mailchimp is meant for simpler solutions.

Mailchimp mania

2019-01-08

It has helped me get small clients using email. That has helped them improve ROI on working with me.

Pros

I love using mailchimp to start email marketing for smb clients that have nothing happening on that front. It is the easiest and best way to get started in my opinion

Cons

Mailchimp is lacking in marketing automation features that I need for most of the roles I have worked in, so I use Pardot, Marketo, Hubspot for email marketing typically.

The best entry level email marketing tool for startups and SMBs

2018-09-07

Pros

There's a reason why most tech companies and startups use Mailchimp for their newsletter. It's a great value for the features and services it provides. It's free to get started, and the paid version is much cheaper than other tools. In the past few years they've added many new features (automation campaigns, ads, landing pages) so you can now use mailchimp for most of your email marketing needs. I'd recommend it as your first choice when looking at email software.

Cons

The only con I can think of is that it's not as advanced as other platforms like Hubspot or Marketo. If you want some really complex automation workflows, then Mailchimp probably isn't the tool for you.

Great for small businesses

2018-05-15

Pros

It's very WYSIWYG and simple to create and send emails, however it doesn't have nearly the bells-and-whistles of something geared towards large enterprise companies like Marketo. That's a good thing though for most companies that don't need something as elaborate and complex.

Cons

Not as robust as some true marketing automation solutions, but that's not a problem if you're looking for an email marketing platform more than something bigger.

MailChimp brings for more to the table than the name portends.

2018-11-15

Overall, I couldn't imagine a better tool for our business (small-to-midsized). Whether we're sending drip campaign emails, payment reminders, mass email marketing, or simple survey emails, this is our tool of choice, bar none. I can't recommend MailChimp's suite of tools enough.

Pros

Their segmentation tools are truly next level, and the reporting is the best at this price point (at least compared to Marketo and Hubspot).

Cons

They are very picky about leads that you use through their software, so make sure that you have done email validation on your data set before you run it through their platform, or they will ding you for it.

Mail chimp - A great way to get started with email marketing and basic automation

2016-12-05

For companies looking to move beyond basic batch and blast email marketing without the commitment and expenditure of more robust technology packages (Marketo, Hubspot, Pardot, etc), MailChimp is easy to use platform that gives you basic marketing automation functionality at a fraction of the price.

Email Marketing Tool for Those Who Aren't in Email Marketing

2018-06-14

Pros

This is a great tool for someone who has a small business and wants to send out email communications it. It has the basic functionality of creating a nice email through templates or customization, importing your lists and sending it out. It additionally has the open rate, click rate, unsubscribe rate, etc. that you would be interested in seeing so you can tell how successful the email was overall.

Cons

It's not on the level of a Marketo or HubSpot where you can integrate it deeply with a CRM system if your team is on the larger side.
