Basecamp is a simple collaboration tool.  I've used it for projects at work and for  handing out assignments and managing large documents with a few graduate level classes I teach.  
The package has basic TO DO lists and a repository for documents.   

On the plus side it's one stop shopping.  On the down side it doesn't seem to integrate to anything.   In everyday operations I use ToDoist for assignments and share files & documents  through Google Drive and Evernote .   Since that all integrates with my google accounts and reminders appear on my calendar. It works well with groups too.    

Without links to my everyday reminder system Basecamp is just one more place to check. If it's not top of mind you'll miss things.    

Sadly nothing really integrates  To Do lists, a repository, and links to your everyday calendar with a decent project planner like MS Project.  If someone can put that in a one stop cloud application they would really something for large complex projects.

You know how you have to have check your email and phone regularly. You can just add Basecamp to the list, but it's worse, because at least you get notified of emails.

Some notes and files can get lost when attached to a task. Maybe if there was some notification or something more eye catching to let the user know there is more to look at before starting the task.

I think basecamp is a great, well-organized project management solution for members who are going to work on a specific, easy to work and integrated project.

It seems like a great platform for someone that likes gadgets, as you are able to use your lists on multiple devices - and you can share tasks with other users.

Simple interface, plenty of integrations, available across devices and a low price make it a really great choice for individuals and small teams.
