What is Storyblok?

Storyblok helps you organize your content for the world. It provides developers with all the flexibility they need to build reliable and fast websites, while giving content creators with no coding skills the ability to edit content independently of the developer.

Key benefits of using Storyblok

Limitless technology support
Build projects faster with a CMS that enables developers and content editors to manage their content. Storyblok is a CMS that works with all technologies, frontend frameworks and fits all your projects. Call it Jamstack or cloud-native, Storyblok supports it all.
Some examples of technologies that are being used to create awesome projects with Storyblok: Next.js, Nuxt.js, Gatsby, Vue.js, Gridsome, React, Svelte, Javascript, Angular, PHP, Laravel, Ruby, Django, Python, ASP.NET, and the list goes on.

Real-time Visual Editor
Let your users edit websites as they browse. The real-time visual editor gives you a preview of the changes you make to your website in real-time without the need of saving & deploying them.

Components-based approach
Nestable content blocks make content management easy, even within complex layouts.
You may already create components like teasers, grids or feature sections. Content blocks allow the developer to reuse those components elsewhere, refilling them with new content each time if necessary.

Content Workflows
Set up your own content staging workflow. To run a reliable production environment it is crucial to define different stages to test your content before it goes live. That’s why Storyblok allows you to define multiple workflow stages of your content and publish only approved changes.

Image Resizing
Transform your images on the fly. Storyblok transforms, optimizes, and caches your images in a CDN for fast websites and apps.

App-Store
Only use the features you need. With the app-store you can selectively add features to Storyblok. This keeps the UI clean and allows you to extend Storyblok even with your own apps.

Internationalization
Choose between field level translation or folder level translation. With Storyblok you can define your own content localization strategy to serve multiple countries and languages.

Fine-grained access control
Manage access down to field level. Create roles and ACLs to enable safe publishing, while preventing unauthorized changes.

S3 Backups
Add additional security with backups. Configure manual or automatic daily backups of your content and component definitions to your personal Amazon AWS S3 bucket.

Power while being simple with a flexible platform that has a rich editor and headless features

Reviewed a year ago

storybook can be a great option for creating and producing content for developing companies and startups. Because it has a lot of flexibility for both developers and users. The headless feature of this CMS is very valuable for developers and teamwork, it speeds up the operation and can be used to operate a new digital platform. You can easily generate and manage any type of content for any device. Content personalization is available due to the modular content of the blocks and the features and tools of this platform.

Pros

Generating content for an international audience through Storyblok’s internationalization and localization tools is so easy for our team. We’ve accessed our data via a meaningful GraphQL API. Also, I like StoryBlok’s Intelligence in producing and auto converting content to responsive pages and visible on all devices with any page size and resolution.

Cons

The development team is constantly making useful changes, and everything will be better if they develop UI.

I would love to feel more empowered as a developer.

Reviewed 3 months ago
Pros

The documentation is easy to follow – most of our team had not issue grasping the concepts, interface and provided tooling. The tutorials continue to be helpful for us, when new developers join our team. Where the documentation is unclear, the costumer service is able to clarify.

Cons

Assets cannot be scheduled for release, like content entries are. This is inconveniencing. I often find myself feeling disappointed with the features on content delivery APIs (REST & GraphQL). Most recent example is that most of the available filters can only perform operations where "filter = X OR Y". I would, at least expect that we're able to query the api based on "filter = X AND Y" While sparring with my clients or peers I always push for solutions that do not involve "custom fields", "sidebar apps", etc. To me, it feels too much effort for too little in return because the "ecosystem" is closed. In these moments I often find myself wishing for a dedicated API just for the web interface, instead of what is provided now.
