HostTracker overview

What is HostTracker?

HostTracker is a website and infrastructure monitoring service that has been helping site owners monitor online services since 2004. More than 500,000 websites have been monitored through the platform.

Monitoring checks run from a distributed network of more than 300 checkpoints across 158 cities worldwide. When a problem is detected, HostTracker can confirm the failure from multiple independent locations before sending an alert. This helps reduce false alarms caused by temporary issues at a single monitoring location.

What you can monitor

HostTracker supports 13 types of monitoring checks:

* HTTP/HTTPS availability and response time

* Ping (ICMP)

* TCP ports

* Web page content, including keyword and pattern checks

* Multi-step transactions such as login and checkout flows

* REST API endpoints with response assertions

* Page speed and waterfall analysis

* SSL certificate expiry

* Domain name expiry

* Blacklist and DNSBL presence

* Google Web Risk checks for malware and phishing

* Database availability and query results

* Server load, including CPU, memory and disk usage

Alerting

Alerts can be delivered through email, SMS, voice calls, webhooks, Telegram, Viber, Facebook Messenger, Google Chat, Discord and web push.

You can decide who receives an alert, when alerts are sent and how many consecutive failures are required before an incident is triggered. Different rules can be configured for schedules, team members and escalation requirements. Slack can also receive alerts through webhooks.

Reporting and visibility

HostTracker provides uptime and SLA reports for selected date ranges, with export and scheduled email options. Incident history includes per-location results, helping you see where a failure was detected.

You can also create public status pages for customers, add uptime badges and widgets to your website, and set maintenance windows to prevent unnecessary alerts during planned work.

Access and integration

A public REST API can be used to manage monitors, retrieve results and work with monitoring and reporting data programmatically.

An MCP server allows compatible AI assistants to query monitoring data directly. Sub-accounts with configurable permissions make it possible to give clients and colleagues access without sharing your main account. Permissions can be limited to specific monitors or set as read-only.

Pricing

The free plan includes 2 monitors with 30-minute check intervals and has no time limit. Paid plans start at $5 per month for Personal, $14 per month for Webmaster and $29 per month for Business. Enterprise options are available for larger monitoring requirements.

The 30-day trial includes up to 100 monitors with 1-minute check intervals and does not require a credit card.

Who uses HostTracker

HostTracker is used by web agencies and freelancers monitoring client websites, hosting providers, IT and DevOps teams responsible for service availability, e-commerce businesses monitoring important customer journeys, and website owners who want to know about a problem before their visitors report it.
