Pros

This software is a mostly great well-rounded CRM, and their support team is fantastic with any questions.
SugarCRM is the best CRM, easy to use, solid and robust, easy of integration with ERP, VoIP and Jaspersoft and Revolution.
It really allow the small business companies to track sales, invoices, bills and market to our customers in a better way. This CRM is so easy to use just because of its great users interface.

Pros

It's link to outlook and ODBC is good and it is a stable, which being at the core of our business is a good thing.
I loved the software because of its user friendly platform and versatility. It allowed me to take great notes and individualize my conversations / emails with my clients.
ACT! was very helpful in moving our business forward at a time where we mainly needed to focus on contact management. Now that I need a true CRM, there are better alternatives for us.

Cons

Which is ridiculous, any permission system should be deny by default. The email module which we use heavily is unreliable.
Difficult to navigate and figure out how it worked. There was no customer service to call on and google searches for fixes proved fruitless.
A CRM without an automatically tracked last activity is useless. There are somework arounds that don't work for email rendering this product useless.

Cons

Since being taken over by Swiftpage, it has lost its credibility and support of small businesses due to its inability to integrate with existing Sage accounting software.
The web version was a poor version of the Pro, and we haven't been able to make it available when offline, which is a frustration.
Their most recent "upgrade" has been filled with bugs and a lack desire to fix them. My consultants have been inundated with complaints they have passed on to ACT with no response.

SugarCRM

This was always going to be a stepping stone for us

Reviewed 2 years ago

Implementation was rough, but most of that was on us. We should have hired a consultant and had rock solid best practices in place, but we didn't. Growth and support was a nightmare because we didn't employ a full timer with the right skill set to maintain it. Have since corrected those mistakes and moved to SalesForce. So much better!

Pros

A big step up from our legacy CRM (ACT). With the right resources, it was manageable.

Cons

We did not allocate the right resources and opted to implement the free community version. We paid for that dearly with disorganization and mistakes. We should have hired a consultant to help us.

SugarCRM

Sugar CRM. Pretty sweet, but it wasn't always like that!

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

When you learn it, it IS great software. Sugar is of course different than other CRMs because they each have their own 'flavor' and style. Over the past few years, they have really gotten their act together.. better support, better website, better user interface. If you get a demo and it feels right and easy to adopt, you can't go wrong.

Cons

In my opinion, Sugar was overpriced as of the last time we looked at it, tested it for a few months, but decided to go another direction. I got the feeling of 'it's our way or the highway'. And I know plenty of people use Sugar and it works well, but it wasn't for us. At the time, Sugar had a Community Edition (free) that you could host on your own LAMP stack... but they wanted to make more money, so they stopped development of that edition, and now it's dead. Now it's all paid subscriptions, like pretty much everything these days, and they have the plans set up so if you need just one extra feature, you have to upgrade to a higher tier, which costs significantly more money.

Act!

I may be prejudiced but I love this product

Reviewed 4 years ago

I have used Act personally and for my business almost since its inception. Full disclosure: I have written 7 books on the product as well as the training videos for lynda.com/LinkedIn. I also do consulting work for several other CRM products and wrote a book on SugarCRM. For the money, you can't beat Act. Act has all the power of the "bigger" players without the expensive price point. As newer features...

Pros

Perfect fit for mid-sized businesses. Great price point. Only truly hybrid solution that allows you to use Act both on your desktop and in a hosted environment.

Act!

Best featured and Best value CRM for Small business

Reviewed 5 years ago

Firstly, I'm an Act! Certified Consultant and I sell and provide services around Act! and have done so since 2001. Although I'm not a client, I have continually had to make an assessment about whether Act! is the right product for our prospective and existing clients. My personal experience is that there is no single software product that is suitable for every business. If you are a big enterprise,...
