Easy to use self service payroll

I have been using this service since my previous service raised the price again. The payroll service has been easy to use, has tax compliance and direct deposit and is reasonably priced.

Pros

I like it is simple, I can have direct deposit, I can get clear reports and tax compliance. It is also reasonably priced. While designed to be self service, but the support is excellent.

Cons

If you are off schedule it gets harder to get back on track.

Definitely recommend SurePayroll

Pros

We chose SurePayroll because we opened a second location in another state and the service we were using at that time could not handle multiple states. SurePayroll is easy to use, efficient, handles employees in multiple states, has great customer service, and is cost effective. It was also easy to set up when changing from another company. On those few occasions I had a question, SurePayroll was easy to contact and quickly resolved my questions. I've used both telephone support and live chat, and both were great. I would definitely recommend SurePayroll!

Cons

No cons. We've been using the software for almost 2 years, and have been very happy with both the software and the customer service.

Best Payroll Company Around

I have used other payroll services and can say honestly SurePayroll is the best I've ever used. They have an easy system and their customer service is the best I've ever worked with.

Pros

It's easy to use once you are set up. Customer service is always quick to help and ALWAYS friendly. I can always easily find any reports I may need easily and it is so user friendly.

Cons

I honestly haven't had any issues with the software. I only had some issues when getting signed up.

Overall, I like SurePayroll but I'm not as big a fan as I once was and not sure the people that do the setup are as knowledgeable as other PR sales staff are.

Pros

For a small business without many benefits to manage, it is a good choice and a cost effective one.

Cons

All things are not intuitive or easily explained. I've worked with Paychex (your mothership) and ADP for many years, the latter being my least favorite, Paychex being the best. But some of your changes are clunky and if you aren't used to the software you may go down the wrong road only to have all the info deleted. Example, you enter payroll and then realize you need to change something (client...

Good and Bad

Pros

Lets employees know that they received their monies and they can access their information themselves. Processes the quarterly taxes quickly and so far correctly. Great and competitive pricing.

Cons

Operates on percentages so if a employee works in more than one department, you have to use a percent and the payroll taxes are not the exact amount for the general ledger. Customer service is sometimes slow to respond. Does not respond on new state changes very quick. I had to ask 3 times and I had to get the new information changes for them. I have to enter the department worked in each week. The software does not remember from previous week.

Pros

Surepayroll puts me at ease, knowing that once our time is submitted, the staff will be alerted via email that a paystub has been formed, and they will automatically be direct deposited - always without issue!

Cons

Switching to Surepayroll was difficult, as the onboarding directions are a bit confusing.

Taken advantage of in natural disaster

Unnecessarily Stressful & disappointing. I have been in the Hospitality Industry for over 35 years. You cannot give customer service without a willingness to be helpful. It’s that simple.

Pros

I was a satisfied customer of Sure Payroll. When a natural disaster struck my town and shut down my business they took advantage of me. They have continued to charge me for an account that I was told would be closed. They filed false reports with the IRS. The most passive aggressive and condescending customer service rep. Told me that I would have to “dealt with it on my own”. She did not help me close my account. I have not be spoken to that way while asking for help in a long time.

Cons

Customer service. One of the worst experiences I have had. Very stressful when dealing with something sensitive like the IRS.

Exactly what I needed in a payroll service

Great customer service, ease of use, simple navigation and customer service is always available. With me being a small business owner the monthly fees are great and within range.

Pros

Time clock feature is simple and easy to use and navigate. I really like the geolocation feature. It allows me to give the employees the ability to clock in using their cell phones while providing the location of the actual punch.

Cons

I have not experienced any dislikes thus far

Customer Service is really terrible

Loved it when I started using it about 8 years ago. The past two years, it is so bad. I will be moving as many of my clients off of it as I can.

Pros

Software is easy to use for running payroll

Cons

Limited on what you can do yourself. Customer service is needed too frequently and over the last two years, customer service has gone downhill. Long hold times. If you put your number in for a call back, you either don't hear from them, or they call you back hours later and you are on hold for over an hour.

Better of the worse - No customer service

I was with Gusto for one month, and came right back because as the title of my review is "Worse of the worsts."

Pros

SurePayroll has been around for a long time. I used to run payroll for my company with over thirty employee, back in 2004. The portal had always been user friendly and full of features I needed like multi-state filing etc. Now, I use the portal to conduct payroll for just myself.

Cons

SurePayroll has been charging me $55 per month for payroll. Their website (SurePayroll.com/pricing) clearly states $29.99 per month + $5 per employee. Since I use QuickBooks integration, that is additional $4.99, which should bring my bill to $40 per month. I have been unable to get this issue corrected. The support emails go to this black hole with no tracking, as there is no Inbox built into...

SurePayroll makes it easy to setup (new), run and manage payroll for a Nanny

I have been using it for several years. We took a break when we moved and didn't have child care. It was frustrating but I came back since the functionality is easy and compared to private nanny tax companies or their competition they are priced right and I have only run into 2 issues in all these years.

Pros

They don't charge for adding or removing people. It's easy to use for paying once you set it up and I have 1 person and it's a weekly pay check.

Cons

I could not get the system to work for us when we moved. I did all the address changes with the govt and it never showed up. I had to start over when we moved to a new state. so moving was not a good experience for me. There have been a few times when payments were not paid on time to the state for quarterly taxes. When this happened, it was difficult to resolve and the support made it seem as if it was my fault not theirs. They do not help you setup your state when you move and so that in of itself was painful and kept me from setting up earlier.

SurePayroll is a good payroll company to use but it is very outdated

My overall experience is good. Their customer support is good. I've never had any issues with their customer service.

Pros

If you want a basic payroll system then SP will do the job. The software is fairly easy to use. I've been using SP for 18 years and for the most part, it works well. I love having access to any reports I need almost instantly.

Cons

My biggest gripe with SP is it hasn't kept up with the times. It's the same software that I've been using for the last 18 years which means it doesn't have many bells and whistles. It doesn't integrate any time records...I have to use a separate service to keep track of time. It doesn't work well on a smartphone or tablet. You can't give more than one person access to the system (no bookkeeper and CPA...just one) You have to verify through text every time you try and log in. Any time you change employee info you have to reset your payroll info and start all over again. You can't have too many line items on the paystub. You can't change the names of some on-the-line items.

Easy to Use and Great Client Support

I've been extremely happy with SurePayroll. Taxes are easily done for me and my accountant has also been pleased.

Pros

I love that I can pick up the phone and be walked through the process. Instead of doing it for me, they teach me the "how to's" Always so professional and helpful

Cons

There really aren't any cons I have experienced in the short time I've been a customer. It's been too easy, so far.

Great customer support!

Overall I would say that I am very satisfied with my experience with the service SurePayroll provides. The monthly fee is a little high for a very small business. I would suggest they drop the rates a little for business with under 3-5 employees.

Pros

We utilize SurePayroll to help with all the technical aspects of making sure our business is up to date with all the various payroll taxes associated with our state and federal requirements. Being a first time small business owner I was concerned if I was meeting all the various tax payment requirements and SurePayroll now allows me to focus on running the business day to day without being worried if I've missed any of the various payments required with running payroll. I love the peace of mind knowing that SurePayroll has me covered if anything does get overlooked, too.

Cons

The fact that I need to validate my computer ever single time I access the website even though I check the box that states: "remember this device" when I sign-in to the website.

Awful experience doing payroll for Nanny

Nothing. I have spent two weeks straight fighting with software with little guidance how to get all appropriate EINs and set up numerous taxes. I have had daily calls from the company when I haven't wanted them. I have made daily calls to them trying to resolve issues and am still stuck. I have waited for hours in the online chat queue. My employee has called them as well and was treated rudely.

Cons

Due to an error in setting up my nanny's bank account, my first two payroll checks didn't process. There are huge fees for this and my nanny still hasn't gotten paid. The lag in payment is 4 days and it took 6 days for SurePayRoll to notify us. After 14 days, I have yet to successfully process payroll. I am told daily about new fees I might incur due to not having correct tax numbers, employee worker's comp, etc. If I knew withholding taxes for a nanny would be this much of a headache, I might have risked COVID to use a daycare instead. Do yourself a favor and if this is your first experience setting up payroll for a single employee, go elsewhere! Already cost me $250 for one month, and my employee is very unhappily not even paid yet!

Highly Recommend Sure Payroll

Had a great experience. If all I needed was to run payroll I would still be there.

Pros

We used Surepayroll for many years and only left recently in an effort to centralize our HR processes. I actually miss their extremely competent customer service people. If you are looking for payroll services, look no further.

Cons

One of the things that was annoying was not being able to run an off cycle payroll without spending a fortune. We have multiple locations and cutting a check for an advance or missed payroll is a huge hassle and pain. I would prefer a monthly fee and to be able to use the platform as needed.

Customer service is terrible

Evidently, I encountered my problems during their "busy" season. When I asked when that was, I was told October, November, December, January. I am a small business. Exactly who their platform is targeting. I will admit, I am new at payroll, and I messed up. I own that. My problem is that it is assumed that you know how to set everything up. Pros

I think once it is setup correctly, it probably functions well. It was really inexpensive for what it does. I have one employee plus me, and it seemed like an affordable option for payroll services.

Cons

Terrible customer service. Really tough to get in touch with customer care. I sat on hold forever every time I called trying to fix my mistake when I first setup my information.

Support Delays and Inaccuracies

Terrible. Support hold times are 90 minutes plus and I have had to talk to about 7 different people to try and get things done. We had a complete mess with transitioning of people from one company to another and they took months to sort it out. My overall experience has been very bad and the bounce from person to person within their team AND THEIR LACK OF INTERNAL COMMUNICATION is alarming. I would switch but I cannot chance them screwing up again and creating tax issues for my employees. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience every time I try and deal with them.

Pros

Easy to run once it is set up, it is quick to process a payroll.

Cons

The transition from our previous company to a new one was a disaster and SurePayroll was the one that assisted with it.

Basic Software if that is what is needed

Overall, this software has done what we needed it to do. We have had occasional issues with its functionality, and as previously mentioned, customer service is very lacking.

It functions in a basic way. It will do what you want it to do, but do not expect much more.

It does not function much beyond the basics. Customer service is terrible, as well.

Save Your Time, Energy and Money and find something else!

I signed up with RM, who is a nice guy btw. I wanted to get set up with their payroll system and also use a time keeping product. I explained what I was looking for in a time keeping product and they referred me to their time keeping system because it could do things like have 3rd party managers approve time. I was told that by the rep, manager and then discovered a week later that I couldn't do it...

Pros

At first it was easy to use. But that only lasted a day. Everything on the back end of their software is crap. Bad connections. Different teams don't communicate to each other. It's a sad case. They should either try to fix it or give up in the industry. I definitely do not recommend them.

Cons

Whoever runs this company needs to re-examine EVERYTHING. From your front line reps, to your managers, to your operations, to you Customer Service Team to your engineers or IT staff that develop and maintain your SaaS product. I don't know how a company like Paychex can by SurePayroll and not make it better than what it is. People are nice but pretty much clueless and not helpful.

Best payroll service at an affordable price

We have a very small dental office (5 employees) and I run the whole business aspect, so I needed a simple, easy to use solution for payroll. We had used ADP and Paychex for years and it worked. But when I moved to Surepayroll just to save money I didn't realize how easy payroll really could be. I love their online interface. Doing payroll takes me no time at all. The W2 reporting has been excellent as well.

Pros

It is very user friendly. I seldom if ever need any technical assistance, but when I have it was easy and the person helping me was extremely knowledgeable.

Cons

My employees have complained that accessing their account online has been difficult. We find that it doesn't work well on a smartphone and it must be accessed via a desktop or laptop computer. This needs to be addressed because many of my employees no longer have a computer at home. They rely soley on their phone or tablet for their computer needs.
