Cloud SQL overview

What is Cloud SQL?

Google Cloud SQL is a fully managed relational database service that provides enterprise grade hosting for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server engines on Google Cloud Platform. The service alleviates the operational burden of self managed database infrastructure by automating administration tasks such as backups, patching, and capacity provisioning. It addresses transactional workloads, application backends, and data driven systems across diverse industries.

The platform offers general purpose and high performance configurations with differentiated compute and memory capacities. Storage options include SSD backed persistent disks and local SSD storage exclusively available for high performance configurations with automatic capacity scaling to multiple tens of terabytes. Regional high availability is implemented through automatic failover across zones with synchronous replication while enhanced disaster recovery provides orchestrated failover and switchback without data loss. Read replicas support horizontal scaling, cross region deployment, and cascading replica chains to manage increased read traffic.

Security controls include automatic encryption of data at rest and in transit, private connectivity through virtual private cloud integration, and private service connect for IP based access without public exposure. Fine grained permission management is enabled by Identity and Access Management while network firewall rules govern inbound connections. The service maintains compliance with industry and regulatory standards through certifications and regular audits.

Cloud SQL integrates with the Google Cloud ecosystem via native connections to compute and container services, federated queries in data warehousing, and change data capture through a serverless replication service. Management interfaces include a web console, command line tools, REST APIs, and client libraries. Built in AI assistance provides natural language query translation, conversational analytics, and automated performance recommendations. Migration workflows support both homogeneous and heterogeneous database transfers with minimal disruption while standard database drivers and popular client tools ensure compatibility with existing development pipelines.

We're not currently using it as we switch to HubSpot, but we did in the past.

Very easy integration. I don't really have to do anything to ensure the donation is being tracked for us.
