Lean partner that continually improves their services

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have been a customer for seven years, deploying multiple systems with coaching engagements throughout that period. The experiences have always been positive and the investments have had valuable returns. The part of Redzone I enjoy the most is that they partner with you to ensure you have success. Being a customer is having a lean partner that continually improves their services. We get better as Redzone learns and gets better. It would be difficult for any organization to create an internal lean department that compares to the quality of services that Redzone offers. Being a customer you get to be a part of an organization who's entire goal is to learn and provide better manufacturing excellence services.

Pros

Redzone is not a traditional MES software. I can be difficult to define exactly. Along with the visual workplace software Redzone will coach you in to how to use the system most effectively. It is part software, part standardized lean approach, and part custom lean consulting. It provides a visual workplace along with a program to manage a highly productive and collaborative work environment.

Cons

Some of the features can be cumbersome to manage through the iOS interface. Good customer service is provided to help make the management easier.

Vendor response

Very thoughtful review, Joe. Your description of "Software + Std lean + Custom lean" should be very interesting to buyers who "don't think they are read for lean", which we hear a lot.

Enhancing Accountability and Communication in Sanitation Operations with Redzone

Reviewed 7 months ago
Pros

Incorporating Redzone into my sanitation team's operations has revolutionized the way I manage accountability and communication within my team. One of the most remarkable aspects of Redzone is its ability to hold team members and management alike accountable for their actions and responsibilities. With its intuitive interface and real-time tracking features, every task and objective is transparent...

Cons

-Navigating the introduction of Redzone to team members unfamiliar with smartphones or tablets presented a considerable challenge. While I recognize that OEE serves as the primary metric within Redzone, I found it crucial to emphasize the significance of sanitation related features. These features have proven invaluable to our team's productivity and efficiency. Despite the initial difficulties in familiarizing everyone with the technology, the benefits of incorporating Redzone into our sanitation processes have been undeniable. Moving forward, I hope to continue highlighting the importance of sanitation related features within the platform.

Compliance module on Redzone

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Redzone helps a lot in terms of decreasing time-consuming, previously the operators needed to write down everything in the paper which took so much time on that. It also helps to build great communication between all levels with all relevant departments, so it can help the action to be done faster. The barcode reading feature is a great one as well, it can help to confirm that each barcode can read correctly and complete. What I like the most would be that we can see the real-time data which is important in compliance.

Cons

Sometimes, the datasheet just popped up a little delay (I'm not sure it's the problem neither from Redzone nor internet connection). Moreover, it also cannot deselect some data items which are not mandatory as well, so we can only solve this problem by just only add on the N/A option.

Redzone is a great system and it's better than the old one

Reviewed 5 months ago

the data has enabled us to understand where the problem of our line is, it helped to improve our line performance. the front line team get very engaged and when they see their line is doing well, they get instant feedback from the management team and they enjoy the comments being shown on Tv and ipads.

Pros

i like the data catcher function, i am able to drill into the information which helps us to improve our line performance and effiency.

Cons

i understand the basic of the whole system but in i need more time to understand the admin aspect of the system. it can be a little complicate to understand how each downtime problem and assets are related and we need to set up the system back and forth to suit our needs.

Redzone is great

Reviewed 6 months ago
Pros

Redzone gives us unprecedented insights into our production process and helps us identify trends we can use to increase our productivity and efficiency. The compliance module helps us fulfill our regulatory obligations easily and without paper.

Cons

Importing products and equipment can be a bit quirky on the initial upload if you don't have everything in the exact format required. We had issues with this but it's likely because we haven't done many product conversions similar to this before. Since Redzone is designed to work with Apple's iOS platform, everything 'just works' between the various supported devices. You can run the programs on computers with M-series processors but it would be really nice if there was a web based option for management users who can't/won't use an iPad.

The most helpful tool for production.

Reviewed 7 months ago

Overall, this has turned out to be an amazing benefit for our production needs. We have had some amazing coaches teach us through the process. The coaches work one on one and in group settings to help everyone gain a comfort level using the applications.

Pros

This is very user friendly. Anyone of any job title can use easily. I appreciate the real time data I get now rather than having to wait until the next day. This allows us to be proactive now rather than reactive.

Cons

There are some functions that need some updating. Some examples. After the approval of any quality check, it will default you back to the beginning of the list rather than move you to the next item to approve. When trying to contact support through the app the response is slow. Some of the set up in the modules took a lot more work than originally understood.

Improve Plant Efficiency with Redzone

Reviewed 4 months ago
Pros

Provide a better visualization of data tracking which can be use to help reduce product count loss in the future. This app improve the communication between shifts allowing everyone's voices are heard, from operators to maintenance and quality assurance. Shout out for coach [sensitive content hidden] for her superb guidedance and being impressively patient with our operators. The coach helps them become more eager to learn more about Redzone.

Cons

Not entirely a dislike about Redzone but some of our operators have no knowledge using new technology so they have difficulty learning the new software language. With the new compliance system coming in place, the operators also doing both paper batch record and EBR at the same time so it's creating more work for them, but hopefully this issue will end soon after we fully implement paperless system.

Great visual and communication tool

Reviewed 5 months ago

Redzone has enabled us to focus on the key areas of downtime. the aiblity of uploading photos and videos at the time of the incident and able to help to identify the root cause of the problems more efficently. The actions has helped enginers to keep tracks of current tasks that they are working on and allowing smoother handover between shifts. so they are aware what tasks are outstanding.

Pros

The ability to analyse data more readly, i like the visibility of the overall factory performance, OEE and downtime trends. the communication aspect of redzone is a lot more efficient easily accessible by all departments.

Cons

the limitation now is that we can only upload 1 photo at a time. and also not able to upload stored videos. i would like the ability the search in the log. i would like to see the timeline of checks filled alone the production runs.

3rd Party Audits Made Easy

Reviewed 4 months ago
Pros

Redzone makes 3rd party audits easy. All of the documents generated are searchable is a number of ways depending on what your auditor is looking for. In the past we have have spent an hour or so gathering documents now with Redzone this process takes minutes.

Cons

There is some heavy lifting that needs to be done up front, however once that is done there is very minimal upkeep.

Real time data tracking and downtime reduction with Redzone!

Reviewed 10 months ago

We used to manually record machine downtimes. We then had to manually input them into an Excel file to generate daily and weekly downtime reports for our meetings. These were time-consuming tasks, and operators often forgot to input the data, resulting in incorrect data being logged. Redzone helped eliminate all these issues. The actual downtime is tracked by the sensors of the line. When the line stops and starts, the entire downtime is captured, and all we need to do is assign the downtime reason. We can now get more accurate data, and we can generate reports with just one click.

Pros

real time data tracking! we can now see the performance of the whole factory from the ipads. The app is very easy to use and we can also manage new users, products, etc very easily from the admin app. We no longer no need to manually recording downtime and Redzone is saving us more time and allow us to focus on reducing downtime.

Cons

it was confusing when we first set up. we can have assets, asset type and locations problems. it all made sense when we started using the system and this takes some time to get used to and requires some adjustments to fine tune to our needs.

Redzone

Reviewed 3 years ago

We are ultimately trying to improve both our communication on the shop floor in order to solve problems more effectively, as well as improve the OEE of our operation. Redzone has definitely helped us to do that. We still have areas to improve, but we have realized a 10-15% throughout the process of re-engaging Redzone. Our QA records are more thoroughly documented and our staff has taken more ownership. We have had a great experience with Redzone and I would recommend them to help other operations.

Pros

Our company had implemented Redzone about 5 years ago. Through a series of personnel changes, and company acquisitions, we used it, but not to the full potential. As we were acquired in 2020, our parent company was in the process of a Redzone roll-out to their facilities. We implemented a re-launch of the product starting in September 2020. We had a great coach [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] who helped...

Cons

Redzone is only available through iPads. There are times where it would be nice to have it more of a PC based software, but it isn’t the end of the world. We have our manager, supervisors, QA, and maintenance techs equipped with iPads so that they can always monitor. You can also get a license for Tableau in order to slice and dice the data into further detail. It is nice to setup reports and have dashboards. It does take some practice to learn the software, but the support group is very helpful.

Vendor response

Thank you for the thoughtful review. Glad to see that you are having more success since the relaunch of your continuous improvement journey!

Data-driven improvement

Reviewed 3 years ago

Redzone Compliance provides for more dynamic product safety. Automatically it triggers a control point check. If checks fail or are overlooked, a notification is sent as an alert. Our team is now notified of potential issues as they happen. This has resulted in increased product quality with zero product recalls. Likewise, Redzone software has improved communication and visibility with non-production...

Pros

What I like most is the ease of use. It's both intuitive and innovative. There is a shallow learning curve, and most users are up and running in no time at all.

Cons

Redzone provides plenty of support when generating reports using the Tableau software. However, I prefer self-reliance over a Redzone coach creating or altering our reports. I found a steep learning curve when learning on my own. There are classes available, but that is an additional cost.

A change in ethos and drive to the next level

Reviewed 3 years ago

Very positive experience implementing a system that has become part of daily life. Worth the effort.

Pros

We have implemented both an OEE and compliance module. This has allowed us to utilise the generated data to form improvement plans and improve productivity, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. The compliance side has allowed us to create a paperless production record system and automation of check generation. Making the completion of quality/production checks easier. The ability to add verification,...

Cons

Nothing specifically to dislike about the software system, it is a fantastic tool. Improvement suggestions are relayed and appreciated; however, it does rely on other sites identifying the same in some cases to be implemented. The workload of setting up the system is labourious (but very well supported) but worth it when you get to the end result.

A game- and culture-changer for us

Reviewed 4 years ago

We have seen the throughput and margins go up substantially since our "go-live" session due to the ability to isolate where the lines are struggling and better identify root causes and correct measures.

Pros

Redzone Production Systems gives smaller companies the tools, data, and insights that larger companies can more easily afford and have the talent to manage. The approach is immediately understandable by all employees, even those who don't have English as their primary language. The ability to see how their teams are contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the facility is very engaging and enjoyable for the team. Having the data and insight at their fingertips allows them to interact with senior management and be able to demonstrate their prowess and understanding of how our plant works. In addition, the coaching staff gives you the knowledge and skill set that most small- to mid-size businesses often can't afford on a full-time basis.

Cons

The entire process, from first sales call to our most recent meeting has always been very valuable and collaborative.

Vendor response

The absolute best productivity software on the market

Reviewed 3 years ago

Our overall experience with Redzone has been tremendous. From start up until today, the Redzone team has been responsive to our needs. They are smart, dedicated professionals. They are always available to answer questions and respond to our needs. The software is awesome. The people are also awesome. If you are looking for a game changing experience, Redzone delivers.

Pros

The software is easy to use. It also takes advantage of user trends. It is mobile and convenient. All of our users are familiar with and know how to operate a smart phone or a tablet already. This makes the software intuitive and easy to use and train. Additionally, it has improved communication in our plants dramatically. Chat functions, attachments, pictures, real-time data. We are always in synch in our plants, in a way in which we never could have imagined in the past.

Cons

It is really hard to find a con. We have used the platform for years and it keeps getting better and better. Redzone really takes user feedback into consideration in developing new versions of its software.

Vendor response

Wow! "The absolute best productivity software on the market!" May we quote you:-)?

Brought our PKG Department into the 21st Century

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Redzone has been instrumental in bringing our PKG Department into the digital age. Transitioning our operation to paperless has been spectacular and well-received by the operators. With all the data at our fingertips, we are analyzing and adapting/improving much more quickly than in the past. Our RZ Coaches [sensitive content hidden] were heavily involved with operator training on the PKG Floor. They were very knowledgeable about taking our idea/requirements and getting them into RZ in the easiest/cleanest possible way. Really can't say enough about how much they taught us so that we could ultimately become self-sufficient. About six months in, there's no turning back.

Cons

No real downsides to note. I would like for the glitch where newly entered comments in forums or elsewhere aren't seen until refreshed. Whereas the Chats and Forums tabs are self-explanatory as to what content drives the red numerical notifications, I cannot figure out the same for the Activities tab. Despite my best efforts, I always have unseen messages, if you will.

Over 107% Productivity increase within the first 90 days of using Redzone!

Reviewed 2 years ago

The combination of real-time data and historical records helps identify top losses and address issues as soon as possible. In 2021, our factory has seen over 40% increase in efficiency, 15% reduction in consumer complaints and over $250K in waste reduction from using Redzone as a platform to establish a continuous improvement culture.

Pros

Forums, chats and groups make it very easy to collaborate cross-functionally across all shifts. Very easy to use and understand Redzone with tons of features within the Productivity and Compliance Module. Real-time data helps front line leaders understand what support is needed so that actions can be created (within the app) to eliminate root cause. Data checks are beneficial for historical records and analytics.

Cons

The ability for Redzone to have more ways to visualize the data without having to rely on a third party integration (Tableau). Also the ability to add external attachments like Word or PowerPoint to data sheets.

Redzone Feedback

Reviewed 3 years ago

It has been great. I believe most were resistant to the change, but have realized it is easier than they expected. It has made our life easier. Less clutter, better production. It has made it easier for document control.

Pros

I like that most things are at the touch of my fingertips. I like that I can see what's going on from anywhere in the world. I can fix certain codes from the Ipad. I like that there is a detailed history in the ipad. It holds people accountable the quality of our products. This program makes it neater for everyone involved. It saves time, and money. Redzone is what you make of it. You can build it to best meet the needs of your company.

Cons

I don't like that once a run is closed, the Run ID cannot be changed. Often times, The operator will select the wrong run ID, but they produced what they were supposed to produce correctly. If the run is closed i cannot edit the Run ID. While the run is active, I can change it. I don't want to be able to change the data, just change the Run ID.

Mastronardi Produce Laredo

Reviewed 3 years ago

We think is a good system that is helping us to know the numbers that we are producing (time, cases quantity, productivity), and to motivate the people when we share the numbers on the TVs.

Pros

The software use is so friendly, is too easy to handle, and learn how to use the features. Another thing that we like too much is that we can see the information of each run that we ran (total cases produced, number of people that worked on each order, time to complete the orders).

Cons

When we create actions some of them don’t appear when we start the huddles, also sometimes the sensors don’t count properly the cases or bags. "[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] showed us an example of how to fill in redzone the form (PPSC)that we are doing manually at this time, but we never execute it and we think this is a good idea to make more easy and efficient the process" **Comments from our production supervisors***

Pros

The most impactful was the downtime recording that structured a sensitivity on stopping the machines for a non-valid reason. Communication improvement between departments and shifts was also a major benefit. It's a very user-friendly software for every level of employee. It was very easy to intergrade and everyone hooked up to it fairly fast.

Cons

we no longer need to rely on people writtting downtime data with pen and peper, we can easily see live data and the data centre in Redzone makes very easy to look past production run or shift reports.

Cons

we hope to have voice input in the messaging functions and when we first set up the systems it takes some time to understand how the data is related and we had to make many adjustments

Pros

Real time data, communication aspects, and compliance all provide timely information on how our locations are performing .

Cons

Cycle locations are not user friendly and have many inherent issues related to them. We had to use them in quite a few of our locations. It appears not many Redzone customers have to use cycle locations so there is very little cycle location development and improvements by the Redzone team. This has been frustrating.

QAD Redzone Review by Ampro Industries

Reviewed a month ago
Pros

From the start of our partnership with QAD Redzone, every individual we came in contact with was incredible to work with on multiple occasions. Their team does an excellent job of including your team in their constantly growing community. Also, the coaching that is offered in extremely beneficial to the successful implementation of the system, as well as offering insight to improve current manufacturing...

Cons

I wouldn't necessarily consider this a con, but from the beginning, your team's Redzone "champion" will be required to gather a lot of information that is essential to allowing the system to function properly. The toughest information to gather involved the naming of downtime codes and establishing a correct TMAX rate. With the amount of experience Redzone has in the creation of these essential items, having a Redzone employee on-site for this phase would be extremely helpful. The gathering of this critical information would run much smoother with a Redzone presence on the production floor.
