Zoho Directory overview

What is Zoho Directory?

Zoho Directory is a cloud-native workforce identity platform that centralizes the management of identities, apps, devices, and Wi-Fi networks across your organization. Built for IT teams that need to centralize authentication, enable access policy, and meet compliance requirements under a single console.

Core Capabilities

Single Sign-On (SSO): Give employees a single secure credential login experience to access their daily work apps, eliminating password sprawl and reducing help desk workload from reset requests.

App Catalog: Connect to 1000+ pre-integrated applications — including Asana, Zendesk, and Slack — or onboard custom in-house apps using SAML and OIDC protocols and configure SSO for them.

Device Authentication: Enroll, manage, and delist Mac, Windows, and Linux laptops directly in your org. Extended SSO — Employees use one password across both apps and devices, not having to remember separate passwords for every one of them.

Cloud RADIUS: Secure enterprise Wi-Fi network authentication so only verified users connect without requiring any on-prem RADIUS server to be provisioned or maintained.

Cloud LDAP: Authenticate legacy applications, printers, Wi-Fi networks, and VPNs via a cloud-hosted LDAP, eliminating the need to maintain on-premises LDAP infrastructure.

Smart Groups: Automate group assignment using filters based on department, role, or user attribute. Manage access that scales automatically as teams grow and people change roles.

Conditional Access Policies: Enforce granular access controls at both the org-wide and group-specific level, layering security policies over who can access what, and under which conditions.

Routing Policies: Choose how different teams verify their identity at the first factor — password, passwordless, social sign-in, or external identity providers.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Add MFA to work accounts, manage active user sessions, and apply IP-based access restrictions to constrain where authentication can originate.

Directory Stores: Already running Active Directory or another legacy directory? Import user profiles through Directory Stores and manage them from the cloud, bridging existing infrastructure into a centralized model.

Audit Logs: Maintain a detailed history of every admin action, with full traceability for security investigations and audits.

Anomaly Detection: Flag unusual login behavior, such as access from unexpected locations or time zones, with real-time AI/ML-based threat detection before it becomes a breach.

Identity Reports: Consolidate IT identity operations in one cloud console with reporting that supports compliance against standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Who It's For

IT and security teams looking to centralize identity, eliminate on-premises directory, RADIUS, and LDAP, enforce consistent access policy across cloud and legacy resources, and produce audit-ready evidence for compliance frameworks.
