“SPSS has sophisticated statistical procedures that can perform a wide variety of statistical test. The downside is that the software does is not 'intelligent' and cannot really help users decide a suitable tests based on the data like other software do. You need to know exactly what you are doing to get good results from spss”

User opinions about IBM SPSS Statistics price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 80 reviews that provide robust commentary on IBM SPSS Statistics's price and value, 26% mention it in a positive light.

Some users say IBM SPSS Statistics offers good value for money, especially when they benefit from educational discounts or company-funded licenses. Reviewers appreciate the availability of a 14-day free trial, which allows them to evaluate the software before committing to a purchase. Some users find the price fair for the quality and breadth of statistical tools provided, and they feel the investment is justified by the software’s capabilities and brand reputation. Users think SPSS is affordable for independent statistical studies and appreciate occasional discounts for students and teachers.

However, many reviewers indicate that the cost of IBM SPSS Statistics is a significant drawback, particularly for individual researchers, students, and small organizations. Some users report that the software is expensive compared to competitors, especially open-source alternatives, and that the need to purchase additional modules or add-ons for advanced features can quickly increase the total cost. Reviewers find the licensing process complicated and restrictive, with only monthly or annual payment options and no perpetual licenses. Some users say the high price makes SPSS inaccessible for short-term projects or those with limited budgets, and they feel that the cost is not always justified given the availability of free or cheaper alternatives.

“On top of this, there are a wide array of very pricey add-ons, making it difficult to know exactly what package you need, and expensive if you make a mistake on this (I had very limited experience with customer service, but getting refunded was quite a hassle).”

“I'm now using SPSS Base because of the high price for the more advanced packages, but that also means that I'm missing out on (what I think are) quite standard needs for a researcher, like logistic regression and tables.”

IBM SPSS Statistics integrations (8)

Integrations rated by users

We looked at 644 user reviews to identify which products are mentioned as IBM SPSS Statistics integrations and how users feel about them.

Integration rating: 4.6 (11)

SPSS output does not come in the desired format most of the time, so excel is always used to transform and format the tables into the desired shape

As I mentioned a graph creator built in SPSS is not satisfying enough. Excel seems to be a better solution at the stage of data visualization.

SPSS supports importing data directly from excel which is very useful as excel is a commonly used for data entry and storage.

It is very useful to export the analyzed data in an excel and present reports.
