I consult to clients who have tried to implement Moodle and recognise it's value but are struggling to get a practical, organised system. There are human issues of acceptance and the system isn't used, or the opposite where they have "created a monster" that is unwieldy. Once the system is structured correctly, and staff are trained in the right way to get the most benefit, it is always beneficial. Expensive paid systems force the client management team to go through a formal process of implementation including culture and planning, but a free system is often simply installed without strategy planning about how it is going to be used.
Moodle is opensource, and therefore inexpensive and low risk to test. If a company is considering eLearning, this should be your first option as a pilot. No pre-planning is as good as actual experience. The difficulty does not lie with the software, but that an eLearning system is a complex activity and is expected to meet the needs of very different users - different education levels, different technology capabilities and with different learning methods. Moodle shows if your company is ready for eLearning, and quickly gets you up and running. A lot of older training materials are in PDF, powerpoint and other formats, and Moodle allows "drag-and-drop" and importing of zip files or SCORM files.
This is difficult to set up, particularly if you want to make use of the assessments. You need to define your users and your strategy up front or it can become a muddle with different departments adding "courses". In a way it is almost TOO is easy to use, and individual departments create a "course" and add new categories, and dump hundreds of file with no categorisation. Most Moodle systems will need to be reorganised and "cleaned up" regularly if allowed to grow organically.

Moodle was a great first LMS for our school. We used Moodle from the very beginning and it served us well until we reached about 3000 students. Beyond that, we felt we needed more stability from an out-of-the-box LMS. We essentially had no tech team at this time, so we elected to remove the tech aspect. Any organization that has the tech skills would do well with Moodle at much greater numbers.
The fact that it is open sources is really nice. There are really endless possibilities with Moodle as a result, you just need to have the tech skills and personnel to put your vision together. The ability to customize heavily is a huge selling point for Moodle, one you don't get with many other LMSs.
This goes against my point about loving the open source nature of the platform, but there is no real support. You can work with a Moodle partner to handle technical issues for you, but this is quite expensive. Instead, I found myself spending many hours reading through forums to try and solve problems myself. Managing the hosting and updating of Moodle is tough if you do not have a strong tech team.

I have implemented Moodle LMS for many industries including Colleges, Universities, Manufacturing, Retail, Career Development Centers, Online Training institutions, Information, Media & Entertainment industries. Except the product is an open-source, I do not see ANY issues. This can be hosted in Amazon Web Services or in Azure cloud, it can be hosted in client environment. Moodle can be integrated with any 3rd party (both inbound and outbound) applications as long as their APIs are exposed. This has lot of in-built plugins/tools to manage ILT Events and Sessions, Chats, Virtual Learning Environment tools, etc. I highly recommend this low-cost solution for any type of industry.
Moodle is a complete e-Learning platform for many industries. It is well-suited for Education Industry. I have implemented Moodle in the large universities and colleges in the world. Most inspiring features are - the course section which can be grouped based on customized categories and sub-categories - forum which can be associated with the topics at course level or at organization level - Cohort which helps the institute to manage the batch-wise students group every year and can be promoted to next level without much manual efforts - Question Bank which can accommodate more than 12 types of assessments and can also be integrated with other assessment management systems or plugins
There is no limitation on the features, since this is an open source application, we cannot use it for GxP contents in Life Sciences and may not comply with Banking/Insurance industries.

My overall experience with Moodle has been positive. I have found the platform to be very user-friendly and easy to navigate. I have been able to quickly create and manage my courses, as well as customize them to meet my specific needs. The platform also offers many helpful features, such as activity completion tracking, grade book, attendance tracking, and more. The customer service team has been responsive and helpful when I’ve had questions or needed assistance. Overall, I’ve found Moodle to be a great tool for creating, managing, and delivering course content.
1. Easy to Use: Moodle's interface is user-friendly and intuitive for both students and instructors. It doesn't require any special technical skills to use the software. 2. Flexible: Moodle is highly flexible and can be customized to meet the needs of most organizations. It offers a variety of features that can be tailored to fit any organization's learning goals. 3. Cost-Effective: Moodle is open-source...
1. It can take a long time to set up a course in Moodle, especially if the course is large and complex.2. The cost of implementing and maintaining Moodle can be high.3. Moodle does not offer an easy way to integrate with other systems, such as third-party applications or data sources.4. Some features are difficult to find and use.

I use Moodle many times in a week, because it’s a part of how teaching in our school works. Students sometimes have to use Moodle to hand over homework or assignments. It’s more comfortable than the old fashioned way of giving it directly to the teacher. But in the age of digitalisation learning platforms like Moodle are very useful.
Moodle allows students to have a digital school in their pockets. With a press of a button they can send assignments, enter a video chat room, chat with students or teachers, see the latest news about subjects, school or from a teacher, all from a tablet, laptop or a smartphone. What I like about Moodle is that it is open-source, making it possible for everyone to create new things in Moodle. It’s also completely free, which is great for schools and students. Other learning platforms either are expensive for the school or harm one’s personal information. I heard from my school that Moodle is safe when it comes to privacy. My school uses Moodle, because other platforms share personal data.
I think that Moodle‘s graphical interface is a bit outdated. A new modern and minimales design would attract more customers. Moodle is also a bit restricted. When it comes to implementation of other materials outside the Moodle bubble, the options one has are limited to assignments, databases and maybe audio or video. It would be amazing, if one could directly implement live streams from YouTube or Twitch for example or a video call from Skype or Discord directly from Moodle. For me it took a while to get used to Moodle, so it’s not so easy to use. I think it’s more because of the outdated graphical interface.

Our overall experience with Moodle has been really positive and we will recommend it to anybody trying to incorporate online learning in their workflow. There can be some improvements with dashboards and integrations side but overall the product is solid and is really easy to setup and get up and running.
The things we liked the most about Moodle was the customisation options available. Also, it is very easy to install on server and is straightforward to get up and running quickly with very little disk space requirement. The option to manage learners and allowing secure access is a great feature to have.
The things we still find lacking in Moodle are analysis functionality, as it doesn't allow much analysis feature set. Also, there's no option for interactive learning or video calling between instructor-students. Also, the dashboards are basic and doesn't convey much information.

Great features at low cost!
I've been using Moodle for 6 years in my practice as an educator. It has been a total game changer for me in organizing units/resources/assignments, assessment, and making it possible to teach effectively in a 1 to 1 environment. From facilitating online forums to creating end of term assessments, Moodle has made it easy to move the classroom into the 21st century through an intuitive, customizable, and easy to master, open source platform. I've used blackboard, desire2learn, and sampled other online class formats, but Moodle is easily the most cost effective and offers similar capabilities. There really is not much you can't do in terms of managing curriculum and assignments in moodle.
The one con of Moodle is feedback and creating assessments. While these features are possible and I do use them, I often have found other programs which do this better. However, they also cost considerably more which is something to consider. While some of the ease of use is lacking in moodle, and certain features can be a headache, I feel the benefits often outweigh other programs which do similar things at higher cost.

The entire Moodle experience has been positive. It's simple to use even if you're a first-time user, and it's a terrific tool for online learning, especially during the Covid-19 epidemic.
I liked the platform because it is highly adaptable as it is an open-source platform, and it offers a lot of flexibility, the platform is available for free. It couldn't be less expensive, it is the most widely used educational platform, and it has a wide range of communities. Any browser will work because It is compatible with all browsers and OS systems and easy to access.
In comparison to other platforms, the UI does not provide many new features, security is precarious depending on the security regulations in place at the time of installation and the technological infrastructure in place, and a minor server malfunction or internet service outage might prevent a user from utilizing the service for an extended period.

if we just using the moodle for normal use for internal school is fine, but if hosting for public is not so good with security and bandwidth as my experience and cost more on implementation, training, hosting services.
- alot of features if compare to another platform - can coding for more module and integrated with many plugin - more professional for higher education, especially for k9-k12, university.
well, moodle is require alot of IT resource to develop it according to the school need. - teacher are require high knowledge of using it, also when hosting it slow and sometime during alot of access at the same time its slow. - security also the concern problem for IT to consider too because its need to upgrade often for bug fix, and sometime during upgrade it caused error not accessible when we have the plugin integrated alot.

Moodle is an enterprise grade tool to effectively manage and deploy e-learning. Course developerment and instructional design methodologies are very well built-in to the core of how moodle works.
Moodle has been supporting the academic and research community from decades. It's vibrant development community has created a true gift for the world to use and grow with. Amazing ecosystem, stable, fast platform.
There's not much to not like about Moodle. The community just keeps upgrading it. It could perhaps have tighter integrations with wordpress and woocommerce platforms.

Moodle feels modernized and is user friendly as a course management tool from both the teacher and student viewpoints. I highly recommend it over the commonly used Blackboard which I previously used for 8 years.
Moodle is very user friendly and has an aesthetically pleasing interface. You can easily navigate between courses and sections of the same course. Assignments, grades, solutions, and other course information is easily input and uploaded to the system and viewed by students.
It frequently has outages for maintenance and upgrades. Although these are planned in advance and during times of low usage, it would be nice to use software that is reliable 24/7 for that student who needs to upload an assignment at the last minute.

I can say that as a free lance ID I love this platform. Its open source and It has a lot of support. so much so that there are hundreds of plugins developed by third parties that make it a match for more commerically branded LMSes on the market. When I say support, I mean the community, there is no 24-7 support but there are so many users out there that any problem you may have has already happened to someone else and there is a solution just waiting in the right forum. I do work in Camtasia and Movavi and I have not had any trouble getting my content to function within moodle. This along with Articulate Soryline and Rise is my swiss army knife to tackle any e-learning project.
Easy to use More than hafl the cost of other platforms Hundreds of Plug-ins No problems with my own video content
Requires more than average techy know how. I really don't see this as a con but it is what it is. I believe tech knowledge is a requirement for every modern day educator, instructor, movitar, life coach or whatever you may call yourself. the level of tech expertise required should be required for everyone. The simple UI is a plus for me but can be also considered a con. however moodle is so customizable you can deal with that too

Moodle is easy to use and is open-source, and has a wide array of functionalities. Personally, it's been used in a university setting, making publication of class schedules and materials easy and painless. There are multiple options where you can set up quizzes, polls, message boards, etc., and it's very user friendly. Everything is cloud-based, minimizing the potential for loss of data and documents,...
The setup can be very administrator-dependent, so it may look unappealing if less effort is put into it.

It’s hard to find something bad to say about this program. After all, you’re getting so many features that other programs charge you to use. However, my experience with the lagging was frustrating, especially since I was on a deadline. If it had been only a little worse, I could have missed the deadline. Granted, while this was annoying, I have to remind myself that it is free to use. Can’t really complain.
Well, first off, it’s free! When price is important, especially for smaller schools and companies, free is always a good thing. The amount of features that Moodle has is one of the things that drew us to it in the first place. It has many features that even pay-to-use programs don’t have. It’s also so easy to use, which makes teaching new people how to use it a breeze. I like how grades can easily be uploaded and viewed. Courses are also very easy to update, with the ability to upload lecture notes, powerpoints, and tests. Very much worth the “cost.”
The program is very basic UI-wise. It could do with a little more flair, user-wise. It would also be handy to customize the pages based on courses. It would also be good to have the program email a person when they receive a message. Otherwise, it could be days before you get a message, depending on how often you log in. Also, even though it is easy to use, it is often laggy. This is frustrating, especially if you’re trying to complete a test or quiz by a certain time.

As e-learning consultant I provide support to international organizations. I can say, without any doubt, that Moodle, has almost no equivalent as open source LMS and this on efficiency and added value levels. I recommend it for all kind of online training (professional and academic). Great software for no penny and with many advantages.
open source philosophy wide support Community updates on time free plugins and themes total integration of the official Moodle website plugins area to owners Moodle websites (direct installation through login interface) )
Need training to master the site admin interface. But guidelines are online available. The very frequent updated versions provided by the official website can lead to frequent upgrades (not easy to perform for novice mainly for running website). But latest version can be used for longtime without fundamentals upgrading (outside security concerns) mainly from the 2.x and 3.x versions. Anyway those who are familiar with git (repositories) can do upgrades and planning all upgrading jobs efficiently.

When the Covid-19 pandemic started, it became difficult to faciltate in-person trainings while we had targets of participants to train as was stipulated in our contracts. Moodle stepped in a covered this gap for the duration of the pandemic and now it has become a standard part of our way of doing business. The setup process and content creation was fairly straight forward with a little learning curve
Moodle learning management system bring the capacity of self-paced learning for both the academic world and professional workplace while removing the requirement of engaging a tutor/trainer full time. As such the cost of training is reduced significantly while essential content is still being delivered. Moodle enables students/trainees to learn at their own convenience/time while systematically tracking progress for each participant. The capacity for Moodle to run on mobile devices offline further brings convenience and flexibility to the learners. Moodle also allows for use of multiple media(audio, video, pictures), props and utilities to illustrate and cement concepts for the learners
The interface for Moodle now needs a face lift to modernize and make it more appealing

Because it is free, my Institution (public University in Brazil) could afford to implement it to improve the quality of undergrad courses.
I am using the software for about a decade now and it improved a lot! Moodle is a very capable LMS, free and opensource, with a good number of very useful resources for teachers/instructors and leaners. There is a huge community of users and developers to get support from and share experience. Furthermore, one can get a taste of this LMS or even in deep, in-pracice, learning how to use it using free...
Some teachers may find it a little cumbersome because of the high number of features and customization options. The interface is a little outdated and could be more intuitive and flexible. Some features requires TI expertise to be implemented and requires server-side access. Finally, upgrades (notably major ones) must be carefully planned and executed to avoid data loss.

Overall Moodle is an excellent education and learning management software. It contains all the relevant features and functions that a education management software should have, in a very reasonable price.
Few things that I liked most in the software are- It provides course driven learning delivery. Its reporting and analytics feature allows the user to track his/her progress. The cost of software is also less in comparison to other software services. It has a large community of active users and a user friendly interface. Moodle is open-source. This means you are able to easily extend Moodle without having to pay for additional functionality.
Few things I like least in the software and that can be improve in software are- Sometimes I personally felt some performance issues in the software. Because Moodle is open source software, there is no commercial entity providing technical support.

It functions very well as a LMS, and its widely use so the percentage of it having game-breaking bugs is really low. It is very reliable and can handle a large amount of users. It is free and open source so you could always reach out to the community for help. It is a very good system for schools and colleges to use, especially since its free and I highly doubt there are many alternatives to Moodle which are free and provide the same amount of functionalities as Moodle does.
The user interface could definitely use a redesign. The documentation is really bad and there is not much you can do in terms of customizing it unless you are bothered enough to change the code.

My experience and that of the team is good, because Moodle is very efficient in terms of cost and for our servers it is not too difficult to manage and manage it. No need for high end VPS (Virtual Private Server) to run Moodle service from server to client side.
Can well provide all the features to support learning and monitoring in processing activities that have been scheduled in learning or provide variations in learning so that they can assess students or learning participants more appropriately.
You must be very familiar with the ins and outs of school or the rules in learning, analysis, and proper calculations in the learning strategies that will be made in the Moodle LMS. Because the Moodle LMS is like a blank sheet of paper at the start, and the parts you might need are separated.

Open-source software is always a plus if you have the resources and know-how to manage it. Hosting is also relatively cheap if that's what you need. Moodle also has a lot of great plugins and a host of online information and documentation so the help is there if you're willing to look for it. From a student's perspective, Moodle is pretty easy to navigate and holds all relevant student info, including class information, participants, group forums (good for studying/collaboration), quizzes, feedback portal, grades, etc. Very easy to submit assignments.
Implementing and managing Moodle is relatively easy if you have the available IT resources. If not, it's very resource-laden. Looks are a bit outdated and it would be nice for students to be more easily notified if other users comment on their posts/replies in the group forums without having to be logged in. Mobile capability could be better.

The software is very smooth and barely have glitches. They also respond to our troubleshoot tickets quickly and accordingly. Overall, the ride with this product has been very smooth.
Online learning can be a bit tough for beginners or people who are used to face-to-face classes, but the use of moodle is very easy that it can even be used for very young students! Moodle is the main platform that being used by our college and overall has been a very helpful tool since the incorporation of hybrid classes into regular face-to-face classes, especially now that the campus is closed, but all the students are still continuing to learn online using this product.
Although the software has very limited features and is often compared to bigger and better products, I can definitely say that with the cheap fee that comes with it, this product is very worth it and has everything that we need.

With 1+ year's of experience, we found no hazzle using the tool and both students and the management are satisfied to provide education through this learning management system. All the tests and materials (including videos and other files are being shared) and the portal even works in low internet connectivity.
It's been over 4 years our organization is using the learning management system for education purpose. One of the best tool to distribute the study materials for the students and experienced no flaws from the tool so far. The students are happy and satisfied to provide education through the system which helps them to access the tool from anywhere and the configuration and logging in also an easy work. Almost all the files and videos are being distributed through the software.
The software application in the mobile or any potable device runs slow and the accessing of files and videos are bit tough compared to using in the computer. The mobile application could be improvised to sort out these issues as most of the students reply on their mobile.

Compared to other Learning Management Software that I have used, this one is my favorite. I found it easy to learn on my own, build a course, and interact with students through Moodle. I found the email feature to be very useful when sending grades out to the students because I did not have to go back and forth from my personal email account to Moodle to look up contact information. It made assignment submissions easier too.
I used this software to teach a fully online course for a couple of years. Despite having no formal training, I found it easy to learn on my own (although I'm sure it had capabilities I never discovered). When I came to a problem I couldn't figure out through trial and error, the website usually provided the solution. I used the assignments, lesson, and quiz features the most, and found them to be straightforward, easy to set up, and versatile enough to fit my needs. The student interface is also simple to follow, and I appreciate the options to hide and reveal features automatically. I also like the metadata that Moodle collects on student usage, though I did not get to explore it or use it as much as I would have liked.
The most challenging part for me was to follow the various threads in the discussion forums, although I believe the students did not have the same problem (they were likely more tech savvy than me). While I found the grading to be easy, for the most part, I found the advanced grading options (such as rubrics) to be confusing.
