This is a very good ERP system and from a Purchasing/Inventory stand point this system is very robust. There is nothing I feel like I need that I don't have.

Even before they discontinued my software I still had multiple problems their tech support. I rarely write bad reviews but the last contact I had with this company was so unprofessional.

P21 is very good in managing my warehouse and all that is in it. The openness of the system allows for easy integration of other product that help make the overall management of the business.

The Prophet 21 development and support staff are very knowledgeable. Many of the folks have been there a long time, employee retention is great and the knowledge is very useful.

When a data import has an error, it is not always easy to decipher what the error means.

It has several things to point out. Has an advanced EDI Module, some other modules for accounts, clients but the best part is its production module.

The most aggravating feature by far is the customer quotes. The software expressly forbids you to dictate a vendor other than what the system has established as the preferred vendor.

Customer has no idea what he is purchasing until he sees printed receipt, there should be a secondary monitor facing customer for pricing approvals. There are no out of the box financial reports.

Business Analyst

It was recently released but i expected it to be more ready for prime time. Was disappointed had to stay with windows version of software.

The ability to communicate everything about inventory, sales, purchase with everyone on our team at the same time. It is rather intuitive so training is fairly easy.

Marketer

Out of the box it is weak without a strong development team because it integrates poorly initially.

I have to say that Epicor has the best support from all of the different ERP systems I have used, well minus, Sybase/Optimized NALCOMIS support, but that is the US Navy.

Controller

Navigation is intuitive once you learn the function menus. User group and solutions database is extremely helpful for special applications.

Weak on reporting capabilities. Can be difficult to deal with credit card payments.

Pricing and ordering guidelines are accurate and easily set up. Processing speed is good.

As an open database product, we have complete control over the information. When we have run into any issues or had questions, the support staff has been stellar.

Great S/W package, it is constantly evolving and stays pertinent. You can get most of what you need in the base package. Good help is always available.

We use the software to run the business and it does fine, but we have to have a lot of other tools to allow us to do some of the critical pieces of the business like procurement .  It is not designed to do a highly level analysis need in the supply chain.

Epicor user and interface

Prophet 21 has been a great ERP solution for us that has had a profound impact on our efficacy. We have also been able to reduce inventory substantially by using Prophet 21's inventory management tools.

Prophet 21 Excels at Distribution Management

We have used the Prelude product since 1995. It has served us well over the years but is no longer in active development.  Had all the integrated features we needed at the time.  Real time, Order Entry, AR, AP, GL, Inventory, Purchasing.  Pay a lot in support fees that supposedly went towards development, but new modules have to be purchased.  Only basic enhancements integrated with upgrades. 

Epicor Prelude

We would recommend this software to other distributors in the electrical field. We have used the system for over 8 years with no major problems.

I think with the integration, tools and overall capability to handle multiple business needs and the flexibility allows for more efficient business decisions and processes

We utilize the Prophet 21 software package. We are a medical distributor so we have unique needs. Epicor has addressed those needs and provided all the functionality needed by a medical distributor. They are always focused on new technology and new features needed by their users.
