A Must Have for All Fitness Professionals

Reviewed 4 years ago

Using the Truecoach software has been an awesome experience so far. The ease of operation, great price, useful features, and customer service are hard to argue with!

Pros

The Truecoach software's ease of use for both coach and athlete are a game changer. As a business owner, being able to easily create and update programs from my phone while one the go is extremely convenient. Also, my clients love having the ability to watch quick demo videos directly in the app instead of having to google the movement or message me for a reminder.

Cons

Initially, my only concern was the inability to accept payments through the software but that feature was recently added!

Great Software for Self-Employed Personal Trainers

Reviewed 2 years ago

I've loved using TrueCoach. I explored some other softwares but this one stood out amongst the rest. It's easy to use for myself and my clients and they have great customer service. I also love the exercise library, the ability to upload videos, and the options you have when writing/designing workout programs.

Pros

The ease of use for my clients and myself. Every once in a while, someone gets confused or has a question but TrueCoach has great FAQs that help with most issues. I also love how intuitive the backend is for me. I didn't feel like I had to do much learning to get in the groove of using TrueCoach.

Cons

The payment/subscription set up is not my favorite. I bill my clients bi-weekly or every 4-weeks depending on their package and I have to manually go in and cancel and restart subscriptions each month to make this work with my billing schedule.

Easy to Use and Professional

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall it's been very positive. I would like to try and start learning how to use Excel to save on the cost of this software.

Pros

It is very easy to deliver workouts to all of my clients and they receive daily notifications when they do have a workout in their plan. I don't have to text them individually to make sure to get it done. It's very professional looking and clients love to see the graphs they can create to view their own progress.

Cons

I have 24 clients and I wish I could pay per slot instead of in large groups because I have to pay for six additional slots that I don't use with a 30 person plan

Pros

- Makes everything look professional - Easy to transfer workouts/programs - Great to collect consistent payment - User friendly - Amazing program and gross with you!

Cons

- Having to wait for new features! - The inability to have your coaches link to their own stripe account.

Daily grind made easy for Clients and Coaches.

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

It's so easy for clients/athletes to set themselves up. Understanding and tracking their work/progress is impressively intuitive even for the not-so tech savvy. On the programming/coaching side of things, the browser experience is incredibly smooth. Coaches find ways to make programming more efficient every day!

Cons

The mobile app is great from an athlete standpoint, needs work (start existing!) from a coach/programmer standpoint. Currently, coaches have to program on the browser version on mobile, the UI/UX isn't as seamless as the athlete/client end of things.

An effective tool for coaches

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall it has helped me with my business tremendously and I hope it continues to improve and evolve as my business grows.

Pros

TrueCoach helps me communicate and keep tabs on my clients with their messaging and compliance ratings. It has many great feautures

Cons

The messaging can be improved as it doesn’t allow you to review which photo you want to send in the chat before it’s sent. Messages should also have a voice note option to improve client experience. The android app just redirects clients to a webpage which isn’t as good. The payment and other features aren’t available worldwide, just US. Often times, I upload workouts and they don’t save or the page reloads and erases what I had typed.

Excellent Client Software, Solid Coach Software

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall the software is functional and useful, with client experience being the priority and the primary reason I haven't changed software.

Pros

The client side of the app is fantastic. I enjoy the way communication works and the ease of use for clients. Getting set up and running is fast and simple.

Cons

The most time-consuming part of coaching is getting data into the software and then utilizing said data on the back end. I would like for some form of volume and load management within the software as well as a more "open" means of inputting different data or information to clients.

All virtual coaches will one day use Fitbot. Not a question of if, but when they choose to adopt.

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

My path in virtual coaching started entirely manual, adopting systems from several electronic formats like email and Drive. This process, which now looks archaic, resulted in an entire workday per week to catch up with non-automated tasks. These tasks ranged from sending workouts, collecting results, engaging in outreach, hunting down Youtube videos, etc. Fitbot slashed all of those manual process, I had to learn on the fly, and drafted them into an automated system. In summary, you could say my favorite aspect about Fitbot is the 'admin' work it does behind the scenes for me. I get to do more coaching, and less busy-work necessary to the management of clients.

Cons

The software is still in it's infancy, and I do not default that. Universally humans are striving for connectivity. Ironically in an age of immediate internet access globally, our race is as LEAST connected as ever. Fitbot does provide depth in the connection of client-to-coach. However, Fitbot is missing client-to-client interactions. In the system of OPEX, for example, our immediate goal is to reach 1,000 simultaneous clients in a virtual system. My challenge to Fitbot is creating echosystems where that volume of individuals can meaningfully connect with tribes of 50-150 people like them. They need to feel engaged with seeing others' results and progressions, not watered down with a potential never-ending stream of results.

Vendor response

Thanks for the review Matt! We appreciate all of the feedback you've given us over the past few years. We've got some awesome new features in the works, can't wait to get them out in the wild!

Review for TrueCoach

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall, I've been extremely happy with TrueCoach and their customer service over the years. Communication has been improved over time as they've grown their team. Like I said previously, there have been some one-off issues in the past that disrupted my processes but were solved. After experimenting with similar software, nothing compares to TrueCoach.

Pros

TrueCoach has provided a tool for me to be able to better communicate with my clients. Before TrueCoach I would spend countless hours messing with spreadsheets, email, and text messages. Their platform has allowed me to streamline my process so I can communicate better and more efficiently. The company is constantly innovating and reaching out to their clients for feedback that drives their improvements.

Cons

Any software in its infancy will always have bugs and need improvements. Over the years there have been some issues that disabled usability or didn't allow me to access a feature at certain times. All in all, none of them have been a huge deal and they were eventually remediated. I'd like is billing/payment processing ability, but I know that has been in the works for a while long and assume there are good reasons it doesn't exist yet. The product works much better for individuals over teams. I'd love a platform where I could communicate with a team or group all at once vs solely in individual profiles. I.E. a chatroom or group similar to what exists on Facebook.

A Phenomenal System for Remote Coaching

Reviewed 2 years ago

overall TrueCoach is the system I have chosen for years and will continue to use, I do check out other systems periodically but non seem to have the smooth finish that they have

Pros

I love the fact that it creates a easy to use and effective system to deliver remote coaching. for myself the majority of my clients are remote and don't have a lot of disposable income. But TrueCoach allows me to work with them easily through the remote delivery, and the price point makes it extremely affordable to use it as a management software for them when building my own would cost significantly more.

Cons

there isn't much to hate about the system, its billed and designed to be an individual design remote coaching software and it does that phenomenally. But I do feel it lacks the ability to easily integrate or deliver mass market programs, ie cookie cutter programs. I would love to see them integrate a subscription service into their system which allows for mass market programs to be delivered using the admin accounts existing exercise library and programs, with an automatic cut off if payment is canceled or doesn't go through.

Perfect Remote Coaching Software

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall, I love this software. It allows me to track all of my clients' workouts and histories. I can program their workouts and they are delivered seamlessly. I have had great experiences with customer service over the years.

Pros

I love that the users have an easy to use app that delivers the workouts easily. I especially like that I can upload my own videos for each exercise that I assign to my clients.

Cons

I wish there were an app for the coaches to do programming and workout edits/tracking. If I want to track workout metrics during an in-person coaching session, it is a bit clumsy to use the program in my phone's browser.

Good quality CRM

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Adding products and creating subscriptions for our athletes was easy and intuitive. The customization of each athletes workouts as well the feature to create and assign programs works well with our gym model. The ability to add to an already existing exercise library that autocompletes suggestions is Aldo a nice feature.

Cons

I would like to see the ability to add membership contracts as well as an e-sign function to accompany each membership. Single use payments would also be helpful to process through the software.

Tru Coach Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall experience has been great. The side features of equipment lists, notes, or even being able to build your own programs is awesome! Also love being able to communicate to clients through the app (online).

Pros

I can easily build workouts, search previous history, or move workouts when needed without a hastle. My clients can also see videos of any movement, whether it's already logged with central athlete or I find something off of YouTube.

Cons

I don't like all of the demo videos from central athlete so I've had to either create my own or find something from YouTube. I also struggle to find some videos when I'm typing the exercise name out as it only pulls up some of the options with the similar letters that I've typed (even though what I'm looking for is in the video library). I also don't like or use the payment option through Tru Coach. It's a great feature/idea but I'm not willing to pay the higher credit card fees per client/sale to use it. There also should be an app that can be downloaded with Google/Android phones.

Fitbot/TrueCoach

Reviewed 6 years ago

It does increase my programming time and it is a great way to deliver my clients their workouts and create a streamline and cohesive business platform for me. it allows me to communicate with my clients efficiently and also allows for some distance between my clients and I when i am "not on the clock" from the old days of my cell phone for communication and emailing or google drive files....

Pros

The easy to use interface makes it great for setting up individual clients. Programming fast is easy, saving me time.

Cons

the software does limit to me to just a one on one with clients, and having season groups that I do offer, running programs or athletic teams I have had to get another software system to handle these groups, so i now have 2 payments and 2 different interfaces that my gym uses. Also a payment processing option i would have utilized initially, as i have had to use another software system to run all of that as well... it would be nice to have it all on one place. Also, app for android users...

Vendor response

Thanks for the feedback Jordan. We hope to have a payment function in the near future, hopefully we can cut down some of the platforms you are using. We are continually focused around building out the best platform possible, so we appreciate hearing your pain points.

An Honest Review from a Real Trainer

Reviewed 2 years ago

When I first started with TC I had an awesome onboard and first 6 months. When TC overhauled the user experience I contemplated leaving the software. I didn't think the update was clearly communicated and it caught myself and my coaching clients off guard. Since that major update, TC has communicated better and their support team has been very useful in helping me and my clients navigate some of their increased security features and also manually run sales reports for me during tax season. Those little support pieces go a long way with me.

Pros

I love the integration with Stripe. That feature alone sold me on the use of TrueCoach. Being able to take client payments and have the client manage their payment method saves me time and makes the onboarding process way less complicated.

Cons

The client check boxes during the UE can be confusing. If a client completes a workout, I think it should be assumed that all the movements were done.

TrueCoach Software Review

Reviewed 2 years ago

I just wanted to note that I own the company but do have two trainers that work with me. There was no option for independent contractors under the drop down menu in the previous section when asking about company size only "employees" and since they are not employees I chose myself as the answer for how many are in the company but there are two other individuals that train with me as independent contractors.

Pros

The customization of everything! I have used Trainerize in the past and I thought it was a little bit more on the playful/less serious side of training and that was not suited for me. I want the best software for my clients with the ability deliver a professional-level service. TrueCoach allows me to customize anything and everything that I need for my programming in the easiest way.

Cons

There is no option to charge for individual personal training sessions. I want to be able to customize all of my pricing for my clients and do invoicing through TrueCoach as a one-stop shop for my invoice and I can not do that right now with the current product/payment options. I talked with customer service and it looked like there was a way to do it if I would set up a recurring weekly plan and...

My Success is all thanks to TrueCoach

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall experience: Excellent!

Pros

I’ve been using TrueCoach for a LONG time (since it was originally called “fitbot” and didn’t have an app!). I love that the team is always improving the software for both clients and trainers. Because of TC, I’ve been able to grow my business into a six-figure coaching program where I can have a handful of customized clients AND pre-made programs for more passive clients/passive income. It’s user-friendly...

Cons

Least favorite parts about TC: - Managing subscriptions was complicated for me since I wasn’t able to do one-time billing as well. I bill my clients separately now. - I do wish we could have days where instead of adding a workout, we can add a write up. So no A, B, C sequencing. I just use the workout format to write in educational posts for my clients and it works fine but I’d love if there was a plain option (kind of like rest days but not rest days). - I wish I could organize my clients into “folders” rather than tagged groups. Having folders to click on would be SO helpful instead of having a long list and then always needing to click on the tag I want to focus on.

Pros

-It is a simple interface -Allows me to keep in great communication with my clients -I love that my clients can upload their videos and I am easily able to give them feedback -It's great that there is an app -The programs feature is crucial for my business!

Cons

-The biggest logistical issue I've run into is adding clients who have used TrueCoach with a different coach. It is always a process of me messaging for help, needing to add the client to the conversation, then you all manually changing the client over to my platform, with additional follow up messages to make sure everything is resolved. The best option for individual fitness programming.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Our team loves TrueCoach. Other platforms I've used, especially in the functional fitness realm, can be limiting to certain types or styles of workouts. If I can dream it up, I can program it in TrueCoach. TrueCoach has greatly opened up our ability to remote coach effectively. It allows us to have a higher level of communication and connection with our off-site AND on-site clients through its multiple touchpoints from workout results, to comments, to chat features.

Pros

Go beyond simply assigning sets and reps. The more freeform style of TrueCoach allows you to program more complex pieces and add nuance while still providing great organization of training cycles, weeks and individual workouts. I would love to see where they can go with the metrics tracking but it's already come a long way in the two years I've been using the software. TC seems to really listen to the coaches using the platform and continue to upgrade and innovate to improve the efficiency and experience of programming workouts. The addition of an iPhone app also greatly improved my client's experience by making it even easier to access workouts, communicate via message, access movement demo videos and smoothly upload their videos for me to review.

Cons

Rarely, but on occasion, the screen will freeze up and/or not save the workout I'm in as intended. If the internet connection isn't stellar this seems to happen quite a bit more. Most noticeable when traveling and using other wifi sources. I've gotten home from trips and had people ask if I really wanted them to do the same workout 3 times? It hadn't shown that way on my end but clearly kept re-saving which was obvious when logging back in later.

Vendor response

Thank you so much for the kind words. We are so thankful for them.

TrueCoach: Truly Amazing!

Reviewed 5 years ago

The biggest benefit I've noticed is a time saver. From dealing with spreadsheets and emails in the past, I was always sifting back and forth trying to find and track information. TrueCoach has made that a breeze, so I can focus more on client service, rather than waste time.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it's made for coaches who not only LOVE to program exercise and training programs, but also want ease of use to quickly write programs to see progressions and client results. From the bench mark features, to 'exercise history' features, TrueCoach has it all. I'm able to track any data I want on my clients and see their history with the assessments as well. The notifications work just like Facebook, so there's no confusion on notifications you've seen or not read. The video aspect is HUGE for me and my clients because I like my clients uploading their film of exercises. Through TrueCoach, I'm able to slow the video down, do a screen capture video, and send it right back to them with critiques and praise in a matter of minutes.

Cons

What I 'don't like' about the software was the transition from 'FitBot' to 'TrueCoach'. I think 'FitBot' was a more fitting name and told people what they were getting, but they wanted to rebrand and come out with an app. The app is knew and has some bugs, so I have my clients save the website on their home screen. It acts better than the app (until improvements are made) and it's more user friendly. It's a growing pain that they'll get past, but it's a slight annoyance for now.

Great Interface but...

Reviewed 2 years ago

All of my clients are individuals. I do zero group training. At first TrueCoach was great, but the more clients I get on the platform the more issues I have. Customer Service has been great at responding but only responding. Unfortunately problem resolution has been non-existent. And now TC has just increased the monthly cost. Unless something changes I am planning to migrate my clients over to a new platform, probably TrainHeroic.

Pros

The best thing about TrueCoach is that the client-side interface is very simple and easy to use. From the coaching side it's also very simple to onboard a new client. The next best thing is its integration with MyFitnessPal.

Cons

1. There is no simple daily body weight reading input. You have to create a "metric" for daily body weight as a workaround. 2. The coaching apps have zero functionality besides allowing you to view activity and send messages. Any program changes or assignments need to be done from a web browser. The android coach app just doesn't work. I get zero notifications. On some clients trying to view...

Truecoach Review

It has served it's purpose but it feels like you guys are focused more on expansion than improving the product for exciting users.

Pros

It is light and quick - easy to navigate. It is quick to program.

Cons

I don't like that you can't easily save individual workouts to drag and drop or load into the calendar. I don't find the programs feature useful. I need to copy and paste in two different tabs and can't see my workouts when programming. Not very functional for coaches. I don't like that there is no progression feature and that you need to type in text for sets and steps. It leads to too many user errors. I don't like that you guys are adding features like payments instead of fixing these use issues. I don't have confidence that you are working on them or see the need. I also do not like that the price doubles from 20 clients to 21. That does not make sense and is not friendly for mid-tier coaches with a moderate workload.

Movement Coach In-Person and Virtual

Reviewed 7 months ago

My peak coaching career began right before the pandemic in 2020. Having TrueCoach was the perfect tool to keep the momentum going and my clients committed as they had the flexibility of online coaching both with video or just the training plan - as TrueCoach provides all that we need with the training plan calendar layout, note tracking, communication, and exercise library/video sharing. This provided an access approach to training that allowed our clients to stay on-track despite the uncertain times.

Pros

The exercise library - as a personal trainer a part of a team - we value collaboration. This feature allows for us coaches to be able to share new exercises that supports an area of growth that one or more of our clients face such as lower back pain, hip pain, foot pain etc.Being able to track the overall stats such as particular goals reached and when, as well as organizing key metrics allows for a great end-of-year summary that both celebrates the client's achievements, and provides ample momentum for the upcoming year's round of goal setting.

Cons

A great sign for us coaches is when our TrueCoach account tells us we don't have enough space, because we are full to the brim with clients! This is a sign that our overall methodology is a success. However, of course, when it comes to TrueCoach, the one thing I like least are the client profile capacity limitations.

TrueCoach is the best!

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall a great way to connect and work with way more clients than I can do on a 1-1 basis. To have the luxury of online and face to face really is great. It's also allowed my clients to get better results from the increase in training volume and staying accountable week to week in a positive way.

Pros

This software is so easy to use and all of my clients agree. It has some great features such as a large exercise library, daily notifications for workouts or missed workouts, personal portal to constantly review progress. Integrating this into my business was so easy and since the pandemic happened it's definitely transformed a section of my business for the better. I'm about to go on maternity leave and it means I can leave my clients with plenty of choice for workouts and they still feel accountable while I'm not physically on hand to keep an eye on them 24/7.

Cons

With going on maternity leave I have been able to set up the function of recorded classes as they're easy to add to the exercise library. However, I think it would be good to make the app more class friendly too in the sense that they don't have to tick off workouts and have more freedom/flexibility to choose what they want to do. I have guided my clients to not feel pressured into ticking workouts off or doing what is set for each day as I wanted to leave them with as much choice and freedom as possible while I'm on leave but I do worry that they will be effected by seeing 'missed workouts'.

I’ve used TrueCoach as my first and only training app for clients. It’s been the most successful and easy to onboard clients. i have looked into other programs but they don’t offer as much

Pros

The ease of use for both myself and my clients is what I love. Everything is streamlined and very user friendly

Cons

I would like for there to be a one time payment option for training. That way I don’t have to worry about having to go back and cancel a subscript someone wants just one month of a service
