Pros and cons

This is a great software for companies looking to get important expense detail, who like customization and reporting, and want integration with any number of software platforms.
Emburse Nexonia is easy to use and I have dealt with customer service and they were friendly and efficient. I use this monthly and so far so good.
Easy to upload and maintain all your expenses at same place. Nice and clean user interface, and support of various formats.
I had an instance where I had to delete the app and re-download because it lost my card info.
Sometimes data entered through the mobile app gets synced with a delay to the profile causing missing data in the middle during synch delay.
Most of the time sync errors indicate what needs to be corrected so that it can successfully transfer to the ERP, but sometimes there are sync errors that are difficult to pinpoint.

Gets the Job Done, but could improve user experience.

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

From the perspective of submitting expenses, it gets the job done and it is fairly easy to get into a flow of submitting them quickly and effectively. There are fields for all relevant information and it is fast to get expenses done.

Cons

There are some things from a design/workflow standpoint that could improve. Line items (expenses) can look cluttered and some of the buttons on the page are a bit redundant. Overall could use a bit of a redesign to make it easier to use. it is difficult to look up past expenses (unless you make a massive export). I wish you could upload multiple receipts at once for an expense.

Money Saver

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have been using this app for almost 3 years and it helped me a lot in saving and reporting the expenses. As it is compatible working with Android's which is very helpful as the accounts and finance teams require these tools to make the work easier for them, and i would recommend to organizations and corporate to use the same if i am given a chance to.

Pros

The most i like is that i can use the software through my mobile and i reach out for my mobile whenever i make any expense or any expense is made in the organization as well as personally. When corporate management expense policies are strict people are relying on the app very much to control or to report the same which helps the management to come to a conclusion. This can also be integrated with credit cards and other CRMS and tools to keep a track of the expense. Busy finance and accounting leaders will definitely need this.

Cons

The least i like is that the tool must be in a way that it can be integrated in as much as CRM's used by the corporate and a bit unsteady during poor receipt of internet connectivity

Nexonia missing OCR/functionality; submitting takes forever; impossible to get data when you leave

Reviewed a year ago

Emburse seems to buy up these expense reporting platforms, collects money from them and then does not seem to invest in improving any of the functionality. We started with Nexonia around April 2021 and were off by May 2022.There are just so many better options out there for a similar price. We switched to Concur. Although not perfect, it is a thousand times better than Nexonia.

Pros

Not really anything positive to say about this software. Everything we hoped it would be, it wasn't. Customer service was OK. Corporate credit card sync seemed to work fine.

Cons

BEWARE: They do not really have true OCR. This is the biggest downside. Typically, an OCR with expense reporting like Concur or Expensify finds key information and automatically matches this information (vendor, amount) with a corporate transaction. In Nexonia, you need to manually match every...single... transaction. Our users hated it!It took me an hour or more to do an expense report in Nexonia...

Easy to Use Accurate Timesheet SW

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Product is seamless to learn to use. When starting a new job it's a huge stress relief that I didn't have to reach out to someone a bunch of times to understand how to log time (like I did in my last job).

Cons

The only thing is that the software is a little bit out-dated. On both the desk-top version and the mobile, when selecting this-weeks hours I find sometimes there is a button with an arrow instead of an actual CTA/ explicitly saying what the button does is my preference. But overall I still love the tool.

Used for expenses in office and during frequent work travel

Reviewed 5 years ago

Nexonia has made expensing significantly easier than the previous process of saving receipts and manually handing them in.

Pros

This product greatly reduces the hassles associated with expensing, allowing you to immediately take a picture of the receipt and book the expense. The app is pretty centralized, with the ability to call Ubers and calculate tips in it as well.

Cons

No major complaints - experience occasional issues with it's link to the camera where it crashes upon opening, but in terms of functionality it covers all the requirements for expensing.

Old clunky system that gets the job done

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall my experience has been pretty neutral- it gets the job, but I wouldn't recommend it. I've used Concur in the past and preferred that system- seemed more modern.

Pros

Now that I've been using Nexonia for several years it's fine, but there is definitely a learning curve. It's pretty quick and easy to submit expense reports. I believe there is also a mobile app component, but I don't personally use that. I like that I can sign in with my google email as dumb as that is- one less password to remember.

Cons

The system itself is a bit unintuitive to use- there is definitely a learning curve, but once you figure it out it isn't terrible. The worst part about it is the Aladdin Travel piece- I'm not sure if this is an integration, or is part of their actual product, so take this with a grain of salt. The Aladdin Travel piece is absolute garbage- it doesn't work at all sometimes so you have to end up calling into their support center and having them book things for you over the phone. Very clunky old system.

Nexonia is a breath of fresh air for a corporate application, it's well-designed and easy to use

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

I like that it's intuitive to use and is flexible for uploading images, docs, etc... I also get daily emails telling me where my expenses are at, which is nice.

Cons

Most of what is hard to use has to do with how my company setup categories etc... it would be nice if there was required instructional text on what categories to use as an end user. Right now I just ask accounting :D.

Nexonia makes travel reimbursement so, so easy.

Reviewed 3 years ago

The app has made reporting expenses so simple and clean. Plus, it's easy to reference past reports.

Pros

As a frequent traveler without a company card, I love Nexonia reporting. I can add items with or without an internet connection, snap pictures as I acquire them, and submit everything cleanly.

Cons

I'm itching for a batch-edit feature, but otherwise, the app has everything I've ever wanted in an expense reporting software.

Managing expenses faster with Nexonia

Reviewed 4 years ago

Nexonia has doubled efficiency in tracking down expenses easily by replacing the manual receipt submission mechanism. Its ability to scan images and PDF's so that bills can be easily traced to multiple expense categories has made life easier to all in the company. Supervisors do not have to collect individual expense chits anymore, they can simply go to Nexonia and enter the expense list incurred on subordinates to get faster claims to employees.

Pros

Ability to list down month's expenses easily through auto-generated reports saves a lot of documentation and valuable time especially when it's related to office work and you need to get them reimbursed on time. Ability to drag and drop images is very useful when categorizing expenses and recording them on to the application profile.

Cons

Sometimes data entered through the mobile app gets synced with a delay to the profile causing missing data in the middle during synch delay. Mobile is not very efficient at times mostly with new updates

HORRENDOUS SERVICE THEY DO NOT RESPOND and OVERCHARGE WITH BILLING ERRORS

Reviewed 7 months ago

Worst customer service. I have been trying to resolve a billing issue for 6 months where they overcharged us. You CANNOT speak to a human being. No one has responded to me.

Pros

The product is fine but their non-existent customer service more than offsets that benefit.

Cons

Customer service in response to over charging. They still have not responded to query and resolution of overcharging that occurred six months ago. At best its terrible customer service, at worst its fraudulent.

Rebecca's Review

Reviewed 7 years ago

I manage my departments finances through this program. It is very easy to use once you learn how. I love how each person can send their receipts directly to Nexonia!

Pros

I like how this software allows each person to send their receipt directly to Nexonia and the current months report. I love how easy it is to see who has what card transactions and create an entry from that or you can go to the receipt and link it to a card transaction to create the entry.

Cons

I don't like how long it takes for each transaction to reach the Nexonia software. I can get the product and receipt before the transaction even reaches the Nexonia software. Although I don't believe that this is solely Nexonia's fault. The other thing that I would change is the linking of receipts to transactions, once the receipt is linked it would be nice if it was completely removed from the receipts list, although if you have two transactions with one receipt you need to link them both (the two transactions) to the same receipt, so you would have to send the same receipt to Nexonia twice, so I can understand why it is the way it is.

Nexonia Makes Expenses a Breeze

Reviewed 7 years ago

Over the last three years, Nexonia has taken us from a company relying on paper reconciliations to a fully-automated paperless system. It's incredibly easy to set up reporting structures, approve and edit expenses, and keep accurate receipt records. Additionally, Nexonia integrates with QuickBooks Online so once expenses are approved, getting them into QuickBooks is just a click of the button.

Pros

QBO integration. Ease of use. Everything is customizable so that you are always getting the information you need from employees regarding what the expense was for. Ability to code on the go with the app and save receipts for later makes this a great software for companies with employees who do a lot of traveling. Constant updates to the system fixing bugs and adding new features.

Cons

Most of the things that bothered us about the software have been fixed over time - including coding multiple expenses at once and easier receipt capture.

Great product with friendly user application

Reviewed 7 years ago

I've been using Nexonia for approximately 2 years and really enjoy how easy it has been to log expenses and categorize spending. The mobile phone applications have been extremely helpful in capturing needed receipts and categorically assigning expenses

Pros

-User friendly/intuitive -Mobile phone application (receipt recording)

Cons

-Navigating between expense reports can be a challenge -Should consider adding a "default" setting so users can choose a default client/project when assigning expenses; too often I've assigned project expenses to the wrong client/project when a default setting would have been helpful

Customer Support is Horrific

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Ease of use to end users. Mobile App is good.

Cons

Customer Support is terrible. They don't respond for days and it is impossible to reach anyone if you have an emergency. Support was much better before the merger with Emburse. After being a customer for 10 + years, it's time to look for a new solution.

Good product but needs some refinement

Reviewed 3 years ago

It's a good overall product. We moved to Blackbaud's Expense Management because they are our Accounting system and it is automatically incorporated into that system. With Nexonia, we had to upload a file of transactions for the credit card and treat it as a Journal Entry - labor intensive.

Pros

I love that it connects a live feed to our bank account and credit cards. I also like that the implementation team worked closely with us to create reports that could be uploaded into our accounting system.

Cons

The credit card feed sometimes misses transactions and sometimes duplicates transactions. This means that we have to pay close attention to verify the feed against the card statement. I also don't like the way you have to link receipts to expenses. Viewing the receipts is not intuitive and they appear very small not easily allowing the user to be able to clearly identify the receipt. Posting to various departments is also challenging as it doesn't allow you to post to more than one during a session.

It Has Promise...

Reviewed 7 years ago

There are still some inconsistencies between the mobile and desktop versions of the product. When you upload a receipt, for example, to add to a report later, you can input a memo on what the receipt was for. When it comes time to link that receipt to a Credit Card expense, for example, the memo field never auto-populates with the information you've already entered. The most frustrating thing at this point, is the fact that it takes many days, and sometimes WEEKS, for my credit card transactions to be pulled into the application. For the past few months, we have had to contact support to have those transactions pushed through, so that I can submit my expenses to accounting on time. In this day and age, that shouldn't happen.

Pros

Receipt capture with my phone is my favorite part; no more holding on to paper receipts.

Cons

Card transactions are VERY slow to post to the application, which slows down our efforts to get expenses submitted to accounting on time.

My experience with Nexonia

Reviewed 7 years ago

Overall this has been helpful software for our company. There are Cons listed below that hope will eventually be worked out.

Pros

It keeps us pretty organized.

Cons

I wish there was better search features. I also wish that I could tag expenses easier and with multiple tags, to be able to find them later. There are also issues when cropping receipts, usually I cannot. I also have issues when trying to print receipts on transactions that are sent to me for approval. They do not print correctly. Additionally, email notifications do not have enough information in them; I wish they included all the account codes and memo.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

This tool is very good as it reduces the paperwork. Earlier our company used to do everything on paper but now we have moved to this tool. A great paper saving utility. The work speed got increased. Easy to operate.

Cons

The format of the receipts can be improved as the size is very small and is not user-friendly. Rest of this things are good in this tool.

Nexonia Review

Reviewed 7 years ago

As someone who both submits and approves expense reports, I appreciate the ease of use this product offers. I can do everything from the mobile device app, including approve expenses (while viewing their receipts). What does this mean? My people get paid more quickly, and my to-do list is less cluttered. Submitting reports is just as simple, capture the image of the receipt, categorize and submit; all without having to navigate out of the mobile app. The desktop version is likewise very intuitive. With their drag-and-drop interface to attach receipt files, submitting expense reports is a breeze.

Pros

The mobile functionality, and the ease of the desktop software

Cons

When attaching a receipt from the mobile platform, linking a receipt is not as intuitive as it is on the desktop (though still quite easy).

Nexonia Review

Pros

The integration of this software was overall an easy transition for our corporation. We are now able to have a degree of expense visibility that is unmatched. The approval process has reduced unnecessary transactions and helps improve accountability at our organization.

Cons

The functionality of the application can be improved. There are times when the synching between the app and desktop takes more time that expected.
