Pros
  • I like that it's automatic, and you can select the folders you want to back up. They also recently added a 2TB option which is perfect for a full backup of important files.Verified ReviewerRead the full review
  • I love using google cloud storage, I love its integration with google drive. I can have it running in the background and it takes care of everything.Michael L.Read the full review
  • Google Cloud's ability to allow users to share their saved work and photos with others is their best feature. It's easy to keep things organized and only share what you want to.Lauren W.Read the full review
Cons
  • I would have to say that the worst thing about this product is the rate charged for the non-free software which is expensive for storage, download and support (pricier than AWS).Verified ReviewerRead the full review
  • The only real downside is how quick it is to suspect you aren't the right person to be using it when you log on to a different device. But this is a really small complaint.kourtnea h.Read the full review

Host static websites and game servers on GCP for a low price.

Pros
Host servers online for various things like game servers for minecraft or host my own website. It is relatively cheap to host a static website Free tier allows you to try out GCP with no commitments

Cons
It can get more expensive with higher tiered services and it may not be easy to setup for most people but by following some references and documentation you can get up and running.

AWS takes a lot of getting used to and I found the same with GCP. Overall I couldn't fault the products but just getting going and find options, pricing etc was just a bit difficult.

Pros
Lot's of services available for a reasonable cost. Can be cheaper than AWS.

Cons
I found GCP hard to navigate and set up when compared with AWS, Digital et al.

Pros
All services are very easy to set up. From Maps to logins and backup systems. From the price point of view I don't know any cheaper solution. Specially for low usage which is free :)

Cons
If you have many access keys and services the management site can get a little messy, but once you get used to how to enable and disable api's and then where to go to set them up, all becomes easier.

The Google Drive program is confusing. I have a hard time finding things and it took a long time to figure out that you have to hit the magnifying glass an extra time to pull up everything you are searching in a way that you won't lose your place when you back out of a folder. Too much scrolling involved. Do not like that once you go into something and go back out it keeps making extra copies of everything. Once I change the name or type of document to something, then that is the only copy I want, I don't want the new one and then the old one to still be there. Sometimes it is creating copies of things I'm not even aware of and when I go back to look at it again all of sudden there are 3 copies of the file to look through or extras to get rid of...and then...that creates some more scrolling. Cannot express how much time I've wasted just trying to accomplish simple tasks with this program.

Pros
Lots of cheap storage space.

Cons
That is creates a lot of copies of things and that once you back yourself out of a file it starts all over at the top of the list instead of staying on the folder that you want to stay on.

Reasonably price db storage with lots of integration capability

Pros
The platform is flexible, allows lots of integration within and outside of GCP, has decent value when comparing to in-house hardware and solutions.

Cons
Poor customer support. Had an issue during the trial which included free support, and that experience convinced me that paying for support on an ongoing basis was not worth it--pretty much need to figure it out on your own or in the community of users--maybe unless you're a very large user they prioritize support for. Documentation can be a bit limited too, and I followed one guide that led me astray and had to get Google Billing Support involved to partially refund me for having erroneous documentation.

Pros
Pricing-wise, Google Cloud Platform is very competitive compared to AWS and Azure. The console is also relatively easy to use.

Cons
As the product grows with more features, it will inevitably become less easier to use. I think it can be a challenge for new-comers, although it won't be as overwhelming as AWS.

I recommend this platform for wide range of customers that have not super tight budget for their application hosting but want to stay away from bunch of low-level details of running and maintenance of application infrastructure.

Pros
Great platform to create, deploy and maintain cloud applications of any size for everybody who don't want to get stuck in all those low-level server and os administration. Provides most advanced technologies including Kubernetes and serverless applications, has pretty useful management console that can looks a bit messy for beginners but really amazing comparing to competitor's management tools . Has pretty tight and seamless integration with wide range of Google services API, from Google Maps to Google Docs. Last not least has free tier that is enough for learning of platform, education and even some real "pet" projects.

Cons
A bit complicated and sometimes confusing price models, prices for some services are unreasonable higher than competing.

Overall I really liked my experience with GCP, the product is quite sound and pricing competitive. They do need to fix a few things to provide the full enterprise experience.

Pros
Ease of use and developer friendliness. I really like the plethora of tools available along with the multiple options for running services on GCP. The services are a bit sparse but certain ones are excellent (GKE). Performance varies based on location, the nice thing is they have several regions which AWS is not in. Pricing per instance is VERY competitive as other cloud services are not cheap.

Cons
Does not have as many platform services as AWS or Azure. Customer support was a mixed bag, would have liked more responsiveness for sev 1 issues. On several occasions GCP had a major outage, down for 2-3 days which is not acceptable.

good experience with GCP

Pros
The UI and API are very well thought out. Very clean interface, easy to perform whatever tasks you want. The google cloud CLI works very well in terms of authenticating and running any operation. Makes it very simple to quickly script and automate things. Pricing is usually cheaper than AWS.

Cons
Some UI aspects are not as intuitive. For instance, when looking for VPC (virtual networks), it took me a while to figure out where the sub-menu was located. Not a huge issue since most of the time I'll use the CLI or API to automate things. Since GCP is one of the newer clouds, it does not have the same number of services like AWS.

Pros
The standard platform of Google Cloud, which is PAAS, has free tier which is perfect for starting your own website. It scales automatically so developers dont have to worry about sudden spike on the website. The flexible runtime has tons of options ranging from linux to microsoft server, the pricing is almost as cheap as AWS. It's good to use when you want more control of the system.

Cons
The pricing model could get complicated really fast, the learning curve on the PAAS side is a bit harder when you're new to programming.
