Pros and cons

The tech support has been good. I like all the help articles that will lead you to a possible solution.
Our church has used TouchPoint for over 5 years now and they continually strive to make it better and better. Their customer support is very quick and easy and that is something I'm most thankful for.
It has helped us improve our check-in system. For me, there is a learning curve for how to process certain things but the staff has been very helpful and once I get it the first time, I am good to go.
I am disappointed that I cannot set up a communication plan for members and guests. The search building feature seems a bit awkward.
What frustrates me: No full-blown financial management module (General ledger, check printing, accounts payable, etc. which forces us to use very outdated Shelby financials.
It can sometimes be a bit challenging to find the items you are looking for. The navigation structure can be a bit confusing.

Perfect for Smaller Churches

Reviewed 6 years ago

As a small rural church, TouchPoint has helped us better track our guests and make follow-up connections and the mobile app makes taking attendance in our Connection Groups super easy. And the customer support is fast and very helpful.

Pros

I love that we can enter in as many prospect contacts as we need to without being charged per record. This is huge for us as a small rural church of under 100. Another benefit is that our Connection Group teachers can take attendance right on the mobile app. Since we have no church secretary, this is a great help in getting our records in and keeping them up to date.

Cons

I do wish that texting was integrated into the system rather than having to use a 3rd party service. I also would love to see some kind of implementation with Facebook posting, particularly when advertising special events. The scheduling calendar--while a great help with scheduling our nursery workers--needs an update.

Increased Faithfulness

Reviewed 6 years ago

TouchPoint enabled our church to become more faithful in nearly every aspect of ministry. Our church has always struggled with keeping up with people, to be honest. Since starting to use TouchPoint, we have increased our faithfulness to track and "keep up" with our people. The functionality and ease of use with the software are incredible. The customer service has been unparalleled beginning with the...

Pros

It's very user-friendly. It's useful on multiple platforms (app, mobile browser, laptop/desktop). Customer Support

Cons

They provide plenty of free training to get you started. They answer any and all questions. I would like to have a little more training at a more affordable cost. At least offer more in-depth and a broad range of videos for training.

A work in progress

Reviewed 6 years ago

I have been using TouchPoint for about a year and a half now. In someways, it is incredibly useful, and I look forward to learning more of its features. But it is often unintuitive and difficult to navigate. For example, if you search someone's first name without adding a space after it, no results will be generated. I think it has great potential but some bugs need to be worked out. But the support staff has always been incredible. Shout out to our reps!

Pros

It definitely gets the job done. We've got all our church goers in one place, we can send mass emails and track people. Support staff is my favorite part.

Cons

It's often frustrating or difficult to figure out. I think someone needs to go through and make some operations more intuitive.

TouchPoint Problem Solver

Reviewed 3 years ago

This is such a great ministry tool. You can keep track of contact information, attendance data, and other interactions with people in your church or organization. Highly recommended!

Pros

This software allowed us as a church to take ministry into our own hands. There were several features with TouchPoint that we had never had access to with previous software companies. For example: the ability to assign tasks to certain people and put some responsibility in their hands helped our visiting ministry really take off. This is an excellent tool to help keep data and other information in a cohesive manner.

Cons

When we moved to TouchPoint from our previous software, there were certain elements that were not able to transfer over. These were not "mission critical" items, but they did play a crucial part to our ministry here. We had to really work with their customer service department to get the best results from our conversion.

Vendor response

Thank you so much for your balanced review, Katie! We're glad to have you on board!

Love TouchPoint

Reviewed 6 years ago

We researched a lot of options and decided to go with TouchPoint back in the beginning of their product and have never regretted that decision! They uniquely address specifics for our organization and have been great with training and customizing features when needed. Not a year goes by that they have not continued to enhance and develop features that meet the needs of their customers. We've referred TouchPoint to more than one church in the years we've been a customer.

Pros

User friendly and addresses all the unique needs of a church

Cons

On a few very rare occassions, it would be nice to have a bit more control over customization of things like ... entry points .... the software comes with some areas pre-populated with items that were unique to the founders denomination (membership trac, etc) that we'd sometimes like to delete as our class track or names of ministries are different. Usually, we can add those ... but can't always delete the pre-populated options

Still Learning

Reviewed 5 years ago

On the one hand, it was a vast improvement over Servant Keeper, which was the previous church management software we use. On the other hand, it has a pretty steep learning curve, and it is more expensive than our previous software.

Pros

I like everything that TouchPoint claims to offer. The idea of a cloud-based church management software system that could be accessed on any computer or smart device is a very convenient reality. For this reason, it was a great improvement to our previous church management software. The fact that they also offer an online giving app is an added bonus. The attendance taking feature is also very convenient. We now have people who take church attendance with their cell phones.

Cons

It is not at first user-friendly. It is not naturally intuitive, and the amount of time that the company gives in free tutorials is not enough to learn the system. For anything beyond their initial free tutorials, they charge a fairly expensive price for the help you need. We have had the software for almost a year, there are still a number of features that we have not set up.

Vendor response

Stephen, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and balanced review! We love that your church has seen a big boost in attendance tracking and other ministry needs. User experience is definitely a priority for our 2019 roadmap. If you have any specific feedback about how this can be improved for you, please don't hesitate to send your suggestions to marketing@touchpointsoftware.com

When I have emailed support I have gotten good response.

Reviewed 5 years ago

It is the software the pastor chose. It offers a lot of good benefits but we have not received much training and the learning curve is big to get the most out of the software. I use it around 1-2 hours a day, which could be cut if I knew how to use it more effectively. That includes utube videos and wherever I can find someone to help.

Pros

Works good and offers practical use for ministry. Once you get the hang of certain functions of the software it offers many practical options for ministry, such as email your ministry area or Sunday school class.

Cons

Not easily grasp. No phone support, which I really liked from ACS software. I have gotten good email support but it has sometimes been difficult to make it work from what has been suggested. That is the reason for phone support, plus they help you get it right then at that moment without wasting so much extra time trying to figure out how to use the software. This is my biggest con-no telephone support. Spend way too much time trying to figure out how to use the software. This has been a hard learning curve.

Touchpoint has been a helpful administrative tool for our diocese, which encompasses many churches.

Reviewed 5 years ago

It has provided a way for us to have a central, up-to-date, information database, which was lacking in our organization before.

Pros

The search functions and ability to create multiple criteria for searches; The ease of exporting information from different lists; The extra value functions, as we use that for a lot of our information

Cons

1) I wish there was better integration of the personal info and extra values- It would be nice if you didn't have to click on a separate tab (Profile--Extra Values) to look at someone's extra values. The same goes for search exports- I wish there was an export option that included standard info as well as extra values (maybe there is, and I haven't figured it out yet). 2) While this tool is easy...

Review of TouchPoint

Reviewed 6 years ago

Coming from a background of public education to working as a church ministry assistant was challenging. Initially, TouchPoint was very intimidating, particularly because I received NO TRAINING. However, my learn-as-you-go experience became less intimidating as I noticed the user-friendliness of the software. It offers so much! Several of my tasks are a lot easier and take much less time because of the many offerings of TouchPoint.

Pros

It's user-friendliness

Cons

Because it offers so much, it can be overwhelming. The nature of my job does not allow for the time needed to really explore all the ins and outs of TouchPoint. I feel that flying by the seat of my pants to meet deadlines hinders a much more effective use of the software.

Overall, I think the program does a nice job of consolidating information

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

The ease of looking up member information and registration for various events and groups. Also the customer support is phenomenal! Response time and overall consideration of the IT support is one of the best I have ever experienced.

Cons

We did not have training on the program, and have spent a lot of man hours "figuring it out." I know that training is available but the cost was such that our administration felt it was prohibitive.

Vendor response

Thanks for your feedback Katy! We are glad that you've had positive experiences with our support team. We also hear your frustrations regarding training and share them. Finding a more cost-effective training option for churches like yours is certainly on our roadmap for 2018/2019. If you have any suggestions, we would welcome them! Great church management system

Reviewed 6 years ago

Have been a TouchPoint customer for 3 years. We use the system to maintain contact information on all of our families and guests; maintain contribution data for end-of-year tax statements; online giving; mass email and text messaging capabilities; and online registratation. We have also extended usage of the tool beyond our church office staff to deacons and other ministry leaders. The TouchPoint team helped us to migrate our data from our legacy church management solution (ServantKeeper) and has been very responsive whenever we have had a question, problem or a suggestion on how to improve the product. Would recommend that any church looking for a cloud-based church management system series consider use of TouchPoint

Pros

Cloud-based. Covers our major needs as our church management system. Reasonable pricing. Have never had an outage where the system was unavailable.

Cons

Would like greater level of control when delegating access rights to ministry leaders.

Enjoy the program

Reviewed 6 years ago

We have used programs in the past and this one we will be sticking with because the continue growth and ease of use to make groups and email out to people and keeping track of people.

Pros

Ease to make groups within the organization (for classes) or for meetings. Love the ease of having people rsvp via email to a meeting and it automatically gets put into the organization that their attending or not. Great for keeping track of where people are in their membership process.

Cons

It would be great to use the financial part with this to track tithing, but I have taken time each year to see if it's worth it to switch from manually entering from Vanco to Quickbooks online and it's still better to use Quickbooks, to me. Then, my reports are all in one spot.

Touchpoint

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

web based, great tech support, love the reports

Cons

can not pick up the phone and call them - u can but it is harder

Vendor response

Hi Melinda, Thanks for leaving your review! We are grateful for your years with us and glad you have had good experience with our tech support. We prefer for users to submit tickets in Zendesk rather than pick up the phone simply because it allows us to better serve you. Average response time for tickets is less than four hours, which is actually the quickest in the industry! That said, we know sometimes you want/need an immediate answer, and having to wait can feel frustrating. We look forward to new developments in 2019 that hopefully will make it easier to seek answers for support questions.

TouchPoint is a great tool

Reviewed 6 years ago

I have been using TouchPoint for several years. It is easy, and user friendly for the most part. It has a great deal of functionality. And easy to understand. Customer Service is helpful.

Pros

It's interface is pretty intuitive. I like that you an do a variety of things with it.

Cons

1. it is not the best way to do registrations. Registrations need to be more like you see on websites. It is first a data base, and then a registration tool. It has created a lot of confusion for our church members registering things 2. I wish there was a way to set up automatic emails with a click of a button.

We love how it covers all the aspects of ministry. They are always updating to suggestions and improving on the aspects of the software. The customer service is outstanding. We love how they have partnerships with Mailchimp, online donations, etc.

Cons

Pretty good but could use more updates and streamlining

Reviewed 3 years ago

It's been difficult to learn all the ins and outs of the program. It's not self-explanatory and training and classes need to be offered to whoever will be using it.

Pros

The feature of grouping to help with mass e-mails. Ability to keep track of members and ease of changing/adding/deleting details in individual profiles.

Cons

Overall, it's not user friendly. There are specific ways of searching and if the rules are not applied then you will not find what you are looking for, even if the data is already in the system. The way in which one needs to get something done is very indirect. The placement of where you have to click to get to where you want is not easy to find and remember. The formatting of e-mails, especially with images, is limited. They need to be customized and the program itself doesn't make self-adjustments for a good end-result.

Vendor response

Hi Kathryn, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We hear you that some things are not intuitive within TouchPoint (making things more user-friendly is on our roadmap!). With that said, I'd love to connect you with our training department. They're great at helping users maximize the system :)

More than we hoped for

Reviewed 6 years ago

Although there are many functions and features that we don't use, simply because we are a small church (and we are not in the US which makes all those helpful TAX and Giving functions redundant) everything we have ever needed/wanted is there! It is not that easy to figure out how to use and the interface can be a bit overwhelming, but there is always (a lot of) help when you need it! Put in other words: I haven't found it necessary to inquire about many of the things you see (almost cluttering) the interface, but whenever I did have a question I could easily find the answer.

Pros

Everything you could want is there.

Cons

There are many options (within menus etc) that I cannot figure out (instinctively) how to use or why it is there. Ease of use is compromised.

Our transition to TP has been very challenging. We feel the TP was not prepared to meet our needs.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Not any as of yet!

Pros

Manual entry of bundles including splits seems to be faster than our old system, but we do still have some issues with this process that have been voiced with no resolution to date.

Cons

Overall the finance side of TP has been very disappointing! The financial reports are not user friendly. The excel downloads contain a lot of information that we don't need for our general ledger postings and thus it requires a lot of excel work to get the report in a format that we can use. And most recently we have had issues arise where reports were not able to be generated correctly by TP software....

TouchPoint to Manage Members

Reviewed 4 years ago

It is better than salesforce in my opinion. A great customer service.

Pros

1. It is easy to set 2. It is easy to navigate 3. It is easy to add tabs and customize your needs 4. Can add more people under a main contact person. The 2nd, 3rd, etc. person's information can be saved with great details. 5. People can be connected in a profile. Can make a group.

Cons

The search function can be upgraded. It has a big search bar like a department store site. Hope see it more selection like type name, email, and other things to do a search to narrow down the data. There is no "flag" feature you can build. While you are putting people's information, there is no drop down or a check box feature you can add.

Solid Choice

Reviewed 6 years ago

Church Management Systems choices are hard to make. Most only specialize in one thing (finance, scheduling, or checkin)- this means that often you have to choose what aspect is most important to you and make-do with the rest. Touchpoint is consistently making what they do better and rolling out new features that were presented as real ministry needs (from actual churches who use their products).

Pros

Customizable

Cons

Not as user friendly as some

Touchpoint is clunky and often requires a lot of rerouting for the most basic of things (couples who have differing last names, for example) but it is inexpensive and allows churches to invest more money in things that matter.

Pros

Cost

Cons

So clunky and not intuitive. Very difficult to input same sex couples, couples with dashes in their names, etc. Very gender conservative in ways that are unnecessary in today's culture and which make more work than necessary for something as simple as giving statements or address labels.
